Implausible typo — MrX 21:12, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. It's not an implausible misspelling, though I agree it's not plausible that someone would produce that accidentally as a typo if they already knew the spelling. I could easily see someone typing this out from memory, trying to reproduce a word they heard earlier in the day. Thefreedictionary.com finds it to be plausible, as did the editor who created the redirect six years ago. I'm not seeing any other titles here at Wikipedia that are similar enough for this to cause confusion. If I may use Talk:Assburger as an example, consensus has repeatedly shown that heterographs and near-heterographs are considered valuable redirects no matter the spelling differences. • Although I will not loose any sleep if this redirect is kept, I just thought it odd that 'Kirelean' would be a redirect, when, if it's pronounced phonetically, sounds nothing like 'Kirlian'. If the first e were silent, then the first 'i' would be long, and not sound anything like 'Kirlian'. If the first 'e' were not silent, then there would be an extra syllable.
I could understand Kerlian, Kerlean, or even Kuhrlion, but really, Kirelean? Is there any evidence to indicate that this is a common, or likely, misspelling? — MrX 23:09, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • To me the pronunciation of 'kirelean' (ker-el'-ian) is rather similar to how I would read 'kirlian' (kerl'-ian) (at least before I looked up the un-transliterated Russian for it). If you speak it quickly it becomes easy to lose the middle syllable. People frequently mispronounce obscure, unfamiliar words out of carelessness, hence my earlier assertion about misspelling plausibility. That is a matter of opinion, just as much of the argument in the assburger RfDs was. There is no evidence that it is common or likely because it is not common, nor likely. But it is plausible. When I look at this redirect I see zero matches for deletion reasons and one and a half hits for keep reasons (#5, and a partial on #2). There is no harm done by this redirect that I have seen, so its small but perceptible helpfulness wins out. BigNate37(T) 23:20, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes! I see your point now. Dyslexia could be a factor. I withdraw my nomination for deletion (not sure how to officially do this, so hopefully an admin will catch this). — MrX 23:37, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Amazing Race Asia 5[edit]

Hoax season of The Amazing Race Asian franchise and has no announcement. ApprenticeFan work 11:00, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Keep plausible that someone looking for information about a possible season 5 could enter this and then be pointed to the right article. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 05:07, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've now listed it for deletion because it is no longer a redirect and it is now a blatant hoax article. There is no possible season 5, as the show has been out of production for 2 years.—Ryulong (琉竜) 06:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Speedy deletion declined. I have declined the speedy deletion nomination and reverted the page to the redirect being discussed here. I chose this course of action because the good-faith keep recommendation above means that the redirect is a potentially viable alternative to deletion. This action is without prejudice to this discussion and does not endorse or preclude either a keep or delete result. Thryduulf (talk) 09:21, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: There is no fifth season of The Amazing Race Asia, nor will there ever be. This is therefore an invalid search term and we should not keep it around. The deleterious content in the page's history is also a means to get rid of this redirect.—Ryulong (琉竜) 10:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Creator (now blocked) has a history of creating hoax series. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:32, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

San Diego elementry schools[edit]

Misspelled page left behind after redirect to correct spelling. Unlikely search term. Not eligible for R3 speedy since it resulted from a redirect. No incoming links. MelanieN (talk) 04:12, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. I have tagged it as {{R from misspelling}}. Any one-character-off typo is plausible. The fact that someone made the error is also a good indicator of plausibility. BigNate37(T) 06:41, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it is kept, its target article should be changed to List of primary and secondary schools in San Diego to eliminate the double redirect. --MelanieN (talk) 10:25, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - plausible search term, no value in deletion WilyD 08:03, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
