Retarget to Shoe (comic strip). I made this change myself back in August, and it was just reverted. As East Virginia is the fictional state that serves as the setting for the comic strip, it's reasonable to expect people searching for this term to be looking for information on the strip's setting. The redirect to Virginia strikes me as less ideal; on the off chance someone looks for information on the eastern part of the state of Virginia, they can easily find the Virginia article once they find that East Virginia isn't what they're looking for.   • Retarget to Tidewater region of Virginia. It is important that we don't surprise readers and I think that anyone looking for the geographic area would be astonished to find themselves in a comic strip article! I also think that anyone looking for the fictional locale would be more likely to search on 'Treetops'. To facilitate this I have created a Treetops, East Virginia redirect.   • Disambiguate between Virginia (per 65.94.77.11), Tidewater region of Virginia (per Bridgeplayer), Shoe (comic strip) (per LtPowers) and Eastern Shore of Virginia. They're all possible targets and I see no clear evidence for any of them being primary. George Bancroft Davis[edit]

Delete. This article was created in 2009 as a content fork about George Bancroft, a United States Secretary of the Navy in the 19th Century. Only recently it was converted into a redirect when the duplication was discovered. The title is inexplicable; there certainly has never been a Secretary of the Navy by the name "George Bancroft Davis", and AFAICT there has never been anyone notable by this name. There is no reason for anyone ever to search the name, and if anyone ever comes across this redirect by accident its presence would be confusing. Kapoor Family (film)[edit]

This redirects to the Indian Kapoor family, but the title indicates a film titled Kapoor Family. Therefore, I believe it should be deleted. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 06:38, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong keep, this is the result of a page move in October 2006, but it existed at it the redirect title for several months prior to that. We normally keep redirects following page moves unless they are harmful. There are some incoming internal links and the stats for August suggest at least one external link that we shouldn't break. The redirect traffic is tailing off, but slowly and it's still looking to be at least 1000 hits in October which is several orders of magnitude above what we usually regard as a lot of traffic for a redirect. Deleting the redirect would therefore be actively harmful. Keeping it would run a small risk of confusion about the existence of a film about the family, but this is very insignificant compared to the harm of deleting.
