Erroneous redirect, should be deleted. Jon D. Glassman is not James K. Glassman, nor are their names similar. Jon D. Glassman was a U.S. ambassador to Paraguay [1]. James K. Glassman was Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy [2]. Additionally, there are two incoming links to Jon D. Original rationale was:

May I be the first to propose a "Redirect for Discussion" on July 21 2011? It is the fact that if one types in "ginger cake", one gets redirected to ginger bread. I have always understood the two to be quite different. Ginger cake is a type of sponge cake made by McVitie's, with a soft, starchy texture. Gingerbread is much more hard and crunchy - a bit more like a gingernut biscuit, the type of thing that gingerbread men are made from. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 15:15, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - the target makes it clear that 'ginger cake' is a name given to the softer form of 'gingerbread' in the US. 'Gingerbread' appears to encompass the full range of consistencies from the sponge cake to the biscuit. If there are other meanings that could be ascribed to 'ginger cake', perhaps in the UK, then it would be better to add them to the target. Bridgeplayer (talk) 16:15, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]


Well, sorry, but I still insist that gingerbread and ginger cake are quite different - to me, it would be more sensible if information on ginger cake were in an article called sponge cake. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 10:25, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Agree with Bridgeplayer (mmy mistake in saying disagree, I meant disagree with the nom, not with his reason). Ginger cake and gingerbread are different things. If anything, Ginger cake and gingerbread should both go via Ginger, but they are not the same thing, having cooked both many a time. Si Trew (talk) 22:42, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
