July 22[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 22, 2011

Pro-Palestinian[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Palestinian cause. Since this retargetting has been agreed by the nominator there is no merit in prolonging this RFD. NAC. Bridgeplayer (talk) 00:55, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed action: Redirect + page deletion to leave a red link.
Rationale for deleting :

  • The redirect page may make it difficult for users to search "pro-Palestinian" in search engine.
  • The redirect makes too little sense at best, and appears arbitrary;
  • Consensus for the redirect is not established (cf. [1])
  • "Pro-Israeli" doesn't redirect to that same page (not that it should though, just as an additional hint)
  • A "Pro-Palestinian" page may be elligible by itself; + the redirect makes it unnecessarily difficult for this to occur

  • Retarget to Palestinian cause. This title redirected there until that target was unilaterally reidrected to Israeli-Palestinian conflict in June, and then reverted a few hours later. A bot fixed the double-redirect before the revert, but this was apparently not spotted by the reverting user (I probably wouldn't have thought to look either). There is discussion at Talk:Palestinian cause about merging to the article about the conflict, and I suggest that if this RfD closes as retarget to Palestinian cause then a note be added to that discussion highlighting that the redirect should be pointed at the relevant section of the merged article, if a merge happens. Seconded. Sorry, maybe I should have looked that up better. Is there anything I should do now? Best, —Ireilly talk 18:06, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it! Just leave it as it is for now. If there's been no objections or alternative suggestions after a day or so we can just close this early. Thryduulf (talk) 19:47, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hurricaine[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Retarget to Tropical cyclone. --Taelus (talk) 11:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect doesn't make sense. I can't seem to find the prefix of "Hurr" or "Hur" anywhere in the Benzocaine article. A redirect to Hurricane would seem to make more sense. Inks.LWC (talk) 01:21, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Tropical cyclone (where hurricane redirects). The history shows that "hurricaine" is a trade name for (one brand of?) benzocaine, and google does agree with this - however at least half the results are a misspelling of "hurricane" and it doesn't appear to be a particularly notable brand. There has been much backwards-and-fowards about where the redirect should point, but particularly as the current target doesn't mention this brand, I think the storm is the best target. At most the brand requires a hatnote along the lines of ""Hurricaine" redirects here. For the anaesthetic sometimes marketed under this name see Benzocaine"; I'm not 100% sure that even this is needed though. Thryduulf (talk) 02:14, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Tropical cyclone. A hatnote is not needed now but can be added if the drug brand is included in the Benzocaine page. Bridgeplayer (talk) 00:05, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Hurricane (disambiguation). "Hurricaine" and "Hurricane" are different topics, there are articles for both, and we shouldn't assume that someone looking for "Hurricaine" has made a mistake. Unless an article is created about the brand, redirecting to the disambiguation page, which can include the correct definition of "Hurricaine" as well as the definitions for which it is an incorrect spelling is probably the least misleading option. Peter E. James (talk) 20:42, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to tropical cyclone until an article about the Benzocaine brand exists. For now, it seems best to treat 'hurricaine' as a probable misspelling. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:27, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
