July 6[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 6, 2009

Elizabeth mclaughlin[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete this and Elizabeth McLaughlin.--Aervanath (talk) 05:26, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete because previous AfDs (1, 2) have resulted in delete or redirect and this is an unlikely, recently-created redirect that is replacing a biography. —C45207 | Talk 22:06, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Keep, it is a plausible search term, but the destination of the redirect may not be that informative. --Taelus (talk) 13:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as I don't think it is plausible. Tavix |  Talk  16:35, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: There is a similar redirect here with different capitalisation: [[1]] (My apologies if they both resolve to be the same page. However, on my browser, the page without the capitalisation shows the RfD tag, whilst the one with capitalisation does not, so I am presuming they are two different pages.) I checked and they are different pages, as they have unique talk pages assigned to them. Sorry for the confusion. --Taelus (talk) 21:13, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Michelle Loewenstein[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. King of ♠ 22:13, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion—Loewenstein is a contestant who appeared on the program and no other article contains a link to the Michelle Loewenstein redirect Sottolacqua (talk) 21:46, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete though using recursion on WP does seem cute. Collect (talk) 13:21, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete we don't need a redirect of every contestant on the show (imagine how long that would get!) Tavix |  Talk  16:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This person is no more notable than any other contestant that's been told to "come on down" --Mblumber (talk) 16:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now what?[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. King of ♠ 20:48, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect was viewed over 3,000 times in June, but the average is about 800-900 times per month. Nonetheless, the current target does not seem to be a particularly good one... The question "Now what?" is too generic to assume that people searching for the term will be searching specificially for the meaning of life. Delete or retarget to Now What. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Just as likely to be looking for Wikinews or the like. Not a reasonable sort of redirect. Collect (talk) 13:20, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The above is preserved as the archive of a RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.

What is the purpose of one's life?[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 02:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible search, no significant incoming links, and zero traffic. Compare with What is the purpose of life? (19 pageviews), What is the meaning of life? (320 pageviews), and What is the meaning of life (229 pageviews). The existence of these three redirects, and about 20 others, make the existence of this one unnecessary. Delete. (Redirect creator notified using {{RFDNote}}.)BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:17, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Too many already -- (and the link should be to 42) WP should not have every possible question listed as a redirect. Collect (talk) 13:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Implausible search, although an interesting one. What is it, then? *thinks* Jafeluv (talk) 08:16, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per nom. Is there any reason to keep the other 10 "What/Why"... redirects to Meaning of life? As BF points out elsewhere, WP is not Wolfram Alpha. -- Thinking of England (talk) 10:52, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is the story the indian in the cupboard about?[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 02:27, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not Wolfram Alpha. The redirect is not a plausible search, has no history worth preserving, no significant incoming links, and zero traffic. See related precedents here and here. Delete. What is the Israeli/Palenstian conflict?[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 02:25, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not Wolfram Alpha and "Palestinian" is misspelled. Does not qualify for CSD R3 because it was not recently-created. The redirect is not a plausible search, has no history worth preserving, no significant incoming links, and no traffic (the one view was by me). Delete. (Redirect creator not notified because: shared IP).BLACK FALCON (TALK) 16:59, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as noted above - redirects in the form of a question might be good on Jeopardypedia. Collect (talk) 13:17, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as both an implausible search and an implausible typo. Jafeluv (talk) 08:17, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flying Mario Corpse[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 05:22, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, this refers to a glitch found in the target game. However, we don't have any content on the glitch, we're not likely to do so in the future, and this isn't a likely term for the target in general. Deleting this will avoid implying that we have (or want) content on the glitch specifically. Gavia immer (talk) 16:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. The glitch is not discussed in the target article or, as far as I can tell, anywhere else on Wikipedia. The redirect was originally created to direct readers to Super Mario 64 Glitches, until that page itself was deleted and redirect. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:45, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as a misleading redirect. No information relevant to the topic is on Wikipedia, having been previously deleted. --Taelus (talk) 13:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

George W. Bush incompetence allegations[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. King of ♠ 15:39, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely search term that raises potential WP:BLP issues. *** Crotalus *** 14:16, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kmetija[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 05:21, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsensical redirect. Term not even found in article to which it redirects. Drawn Some (talk) 02:11, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep that would be because Kmetija is a Slovenian word roughly meaning "farm". There is a popular tv show about agritourism, called "Kmetija". Highly appropriate redirect. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 15:38, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as a non-English redirect which does not satisfy the criterion of: there is a direct cultural, geographic, or other connection between the language of the redirect and the topic of the target article. I do not think that it is useful to redirect the titles of television programmes to articles about the topics of those programmes, regardless of whether the title is in English or another language. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:39, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi li[edit]

The result of the discussion was no consensus. King of ♠ 15:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsensical redirect. Impossibly unlikely search term. Drawn Some (talk) 02:08, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep "Hi Li" is how you pronounce Jai alai. It's a useful redirect for someone who doesn't know the proper spelling for Jai alai. KMFDM FAN (talk!) 14:02, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The excuse that a misspelling should be used as a redirect opens up a huge can of worms -- do you know how many misspellings are possible? We have enough "normal" misspellings without adding one which I had not even seen before. Collect (talk) 14:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep despite Collect's presumption that misspellings should not be redirects, a very large proportion of them are, and have been regarded by the Wikipedia community as a very helpful use of redirects. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 15:31, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep a plausible search term and as such a helpful redirect. BalkanFever 15:40, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The only place I had seen "Hi Li" was as a trademark on a game similar to jai alai. Collect (talk) 15:45, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Redirects from plausible misspellings are generally desirable, but this is a redirect from an ambiguous phonetic spelling. Because pronunciation varies across languages and across contexts within languages, "Hi li" is not a "useful redirect for someone who doesn't know the proper spelling for Jai alai", since "Hi li" could be phonetically equivalent to "Hee lee", "Hai lai", "Hee lai", "Hai lee", and so on. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:36, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This is certainly a plausible misspelling for English speakers. --- RockMFR 16:13, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
