Runaway Horses redirects[edit]

The result of the discussion was Deleted. If someone wants to re-create the Shinpuren ones as redirects to Shimpūren Rebellion, feel free. However, as they are a misspelling, I don't see the need to do it as part of this closure.-- JLaTondre (talk) 16:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A small selection from a vast number of confusing redirects created by User:Tyciol. The fact that a place, surname, or incident is mentioned in a work of fiction does not make it a good idea to redirect the user to the article on that work of fiction! Xanthoxyl (talk) 23:12, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget Shimpuren-related ones to Shimpūren Rebellion, delete the rest: there should not be redirects from real places or people to fictional works. Kusma (talk) 06:14, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah sorry, I didn't know if it was a real place. In a lot of cases the names of places are made up for novels. I always type them in to see if they're real (in which case I provide a link). If there's no article I assume it's fictional and redirect to the novel. The thing is: are these names and places notable? If they're not notable then they may not ever get articles. If they are notable: where is the article now? Perhaps a key point of notability would be mention in a popular novel. Sort of like how some anime make the towns they're set in famous. Tyciol (talk) 14:33, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • If there's no article I assume it's fictional — What makes you think that the encyclopaedia is finished (the assumption underlying that reasoning)? It's nowhere near finished. Indeed, it wasn't too long ago that editors at the Village Pump were considering a Rambot-like run for another set of places in the world that the encyclopaedia doesn't yet have. Uncle G (talk) 05:06, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete; alternatively, per Kusma , retarget the Shimpuren-related ones to Shimpūren Rebellion, and delete the remainder. It's pretty clear from Tyciol's comments that he made some good-faith errors in setting these up. Let's just clean up the mess and start over. To paraphrase Ellen Ripley, I say we nuke 'em from orbit; it's the only way to be sure. TJRC (talk) 19:01, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Megasavant[edit]

The result of the discussion was Keep. Ruslik_Zero 08:20, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect should be targeting Savant, not a particular individual. I am asking for discussion on this, not deletion. Drawn Some (talk) 19:13, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Savant itself is a dab; I'm sure you meant to suggest the target Savant syndrome. That article does not contain the word "megasavant"; the only places it appears in WP besides this redirect is Kim Peek and November 11 (where Kim Peek's birth date is noted). Retargeting might be appropriate if Savant syndrome described the term (more than simply placing it in front of Kim Peek's name, which it doesn't currently even do), but given the current articles, we should keep the current target. -- Thinking of England (talk) 00:48, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with Thinking of England. Ideally Savant syndrome would be updated with a short passage to describe the term "megasavant." In my brief search, however, the references I see to "megasavant" are about Peek, for whom the term was apparently coined. See, e.g., [1], [2]. (for some reason, the last URL is blocked; please see source for correct URL) TJRC (talk) 15:04, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The term appears to apply directly to Peek. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:10, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Characters from Total Drama Island[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. As List of characters from total drama island has been already created I will delete the redirect. Ruslik_Zero 08:29, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - there is no edit history in need of preserving; the software will direct anyone entering a capital C to the existing correctly-capitalized article. Otto4711 (talk) 08:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question -- By "the software will direct ..." do you mean the "Titles on Wikipedia are case sensitive except for the first character; please check alternate capitalizations and consider adding a redirect here to the correct title" note from the "Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name" page? -- Thinking of England (talk) 10:13, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK, I now realize that you must have meant the front page search. I've done some reading and I think that WP:MIXEDCAPS applies here, that the software will not work as you suggest, and that we should keep if we want the "go" to work automatically for this miscapitalization. However we should replace it with List of characters from total drama island if we want it to work for all miscapitalizations. (Is that how it works?)-- Thinking of England (talk) 12:47, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so consensus may be reached.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Aervanath (talk) 16:13, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can you be more specific? I have recreated the redirect that you did, and now "List of characters From total drama island", for instance, typed into the search box will take me directly to the article via this new redirect, but List of characters From total drama island is still a redlink. Is that what you meant? Is that what you want addressed? That is not an issue of WP:MIXEDCAPS.-- Thinking of England (talk) 18:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmmm, you're right, I must have typed in a misspelling or something when I tested it, odd. Thanks for putting me right, I have struck my opinion above, sorry about the confusion. Guest9999 (talk) 10:04, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. If a general miscapitalization redirect is desired for this mixed caps article, then create (or move to) List of characters from total drama island. (Article titles this long strike me as highly improbable search terms and are most likely to be reached via links in their parent articles; also, search box completion helps deal with capitalization issues; but if you really want a miscapitalization redirect, then choose one that works with all miscapitalizations, not just one specific one.) Informal Organization[edit]

The result of the discussion was Re-targeted to Informal organization. -- JLaTondre (talk) 23:11, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary name redirect, it can't redirect to a biographical page. ApprenticeFan talk contribs 14:14, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh you did the job for me^^ User User:SoWhy told me, that Redirects are never deleted with "fast-delete"-templates here. I was wondering too about this lemma, because I thought it wasn't even possible to create pages which differ just between large and small letters. First point was namels, the redirect Informal Organization -> leads to Peter Blau (which doesn't seem to be very usefull, but i won't value that). Second Problem is that Informal organization with a small "o" alreadys exists ... hm i really don't know why there is a discussion about this necessary, seems like here's more bureaucracy than in german.wiki ;) Don't excuse my bad English, it should be much bette by now :/ Kind Regards --WissensDürster (talk) 16:03, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Muana Kea[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep as a plausible redirect. ~ mazca talk 13:47, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Implausible typo. U is not near A, and the pronunciation makes it an imlausible misspelling. Drew Smith What I've done 07:10, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is a pluasible typo and an implausible misspelling. It probbaly doesn't do any harm. Kusma (talk) 12:37, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - as a harmless redirect, plausible misspelling. –xenotalk 16:54, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep seems like a reasonable misspelling, could easily happen if typnig quikcly. Guest9999 (talk) 20:50, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep logic makes nearly no sense to me. JuJube (talk) 16:04, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chattanoogan.com[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep, now targeted to a more appropriate article that mentions it. ~ mazca talk 13:46, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Website redirects to city where the website is not even discussed. Over-zealous ditor appears to make redirects to get rid of red links for unknown reasons. Drawn Some (talk) 05:03, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep The media outlet The Chattanoogan is in the article, he looks but he does not see .... There are about 20 internal links to both "The Chattanoogan" and "Chattanoogan.com" some wikilinked and some not. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 06:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, can't see a reaon why we should discourage creation of this article, and it is not a plausible search term for the city. Kusma (talk) 12:40, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete - obvious R3. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:18, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
it now redirects to The Chattanoogan --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:48, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
1. At the time of nomination, this was a redirect to the city of Chattanooga. 2. The Chattanoogan is a non-notable website, which would make this an obvious A8. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:06, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are voting on the current state of the redirect at this point. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:11, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep in its current form. Delete it if and when The Chattanoogan is ever nominated for deletion and deleted; but for now it's a worthy redirect. TJRC (talk) 19:05, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
