Diddy Wah Diddy (Geraint Watkins song)Geraint Watkins[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete all. Wizardman 00:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, I'm testing the waters with this one. There seems to be dozens of redirects to this singer from all album cuts, it's an implausible search term in that you have to know "Geraint Watkins" to use it and you'd might-as-well just type that. If the discussion seems to indicate that these aren't keepers, I'll nominate the others:

I strongly support deleting all of these, based on the page formatting and redirection being an abuse of the Wikipedia redirection facility. I thank the editor for taking the time to frame this debate. Geraint Watkins appears to be a background keyboard player on a number of albums, with what appears to be a marginal career in his own right. By using "Geraint Watkins song", he is implying that he has some association with the song. He does not, either as the songwriter or as the original recording artist. Instead, these are songs of others that he has covered on what appear to be marginally selling releases as a solo performer. Quite frankly, I can't believe that somebody would use (and abuse) Wikipedia in this way, in order to get more hits on his own page. I note from the history of the Geraint Watkins page that he has already been called to task for promotional activities.

  • Delete all, the redirects are generally useless. We don't generalize this to any other album, thus this being wrong. blurredpeace 01:00, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete as the redirect does not help a user find anything that they don't know to be able to use it. PaulJones (talk) 17:21, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all, I can see this being kept under normal circumstances, but the extra disambiguation on the end just makes them implausible. They are implausible search terms and anyone searching for any of them will show up in the search feature. Tavix |  Talk  21:26, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
