Various strange redirects[edit]

The nominated redirect was Some previously deleted by Netsnipe. Closing "Circle A" ones as delete. -- JLaTondre 01:10, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Divided into 5 subgroups which may have different possible reasoning. I'm recommending delete on all. Any comments related to all of the groups might be placed here, instead of in the individual subgroups. (I'll try to place the RfD tag on all of them over the next 2-3 hours, as I don't have a bot to do it. I'll sign again when done.) — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 18:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All tagged. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 23:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Withdraw most as {{R from Unicode}}. I don't have a script which will put them back (actually, I pasted all of these in manually). Would the closer (JA, if you want to) please include {{R from Unicode}} after the redirect. As no one else has "voted" Delete, those could be speedy keep, so any who wants to could fix it. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 00:04, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All withdrawn are speedy kept and untagged. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 01:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • What's the justification for deleting them? They all redirect to something useful. SchmuckyTheCat 22:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They don't look misleading to me. SchmuckyTheCat 00:02, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep all of them. Arthur Rubin is on some strange and disruptive campaign to delete useful redirects. The redirects can be useful for those who don't know what a character is. Some browsers do not properly display characters. For example, ① (which is a 1 with a circle around it) might be displayed as a square. Someone who wonders what it is, pastes it into the URL, and follows it would be redirected to 1 (number). Then they will realize that the character has something to do with the number one. I do this frequently with characters that I encounter on the Internet and do not display on my browser or that I wish simply to learn about. There is no merit whatsoever in deleting them. JarlaxleArtemis 01:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or retarget the redirects to Anarchist symbolism as being misleadingly overspecific (I don't have a good suggestion for retargeting, but if one is offered, that is better than deleting). Keep all others; they seem to be good redirects, and at the least User:Arthur_Rubin has not given any good reason to mass-delete them. --Gavia immer 14:38, 30 August 2006 (UTC))Delete remaining nominations that Arthur Rubin has not withdrawn. Further discussion has justified the assertion that these are incorrect. --Gavia immer 15:32, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Arthur Rubin, you are the one who doesn't know what you are talking about. Pasting into the URL always works. Pasting into the search engine rarely works. You should research your statements before saving bullshit. JarlaxleArtemis 01:47, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Pasting into the URL works in some browsers, but not all. (It doesn't work in the browsers I use at home, for example.) I haven't had any trouble with pasting it into the search field, though. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 20:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unicode characters (and Morse code for C) to number or letter. Recommend substituting in Unicode table(s), and deleting redirect.Arthur Rubin | (talk) 18:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Withdraw all but one (Morse code). Not plausible, the choice of dash and dot symbols means we'd need a number of different redirects for that one to be at all helpful, etc. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 00:04, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All tagged, I think. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 20:50, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But it is a proper use, so it is not misleading. JarlaxleArtemis 01:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is misleading. If you could redirect to the section of Anarchist symbolism showing that symbol, it would still be questionable, but I wouldn't consider it misleading. But you can't. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 07:14, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect the symbol to A as {{R from Unicode}}, and delete the other redirects, without prejudice to creating a full article about that symbol under Circle A or Circle-A. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 00:04, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The nominated redirect was Redirect blanked. -- JLaTondre 21:54, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page redirect. The dab page should have its own talk page... the new location of the old article that was at Fired Up is listed as one of the dab results. Robwingfield (talk) 11:18, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • No need to list it here. You can just remove the redirect yourself. Voortle 00:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've listed here so that the talk page is deleted. Of course I know I can remove the redirect myself... Robwingfield (talk) 11:18, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The nominated redirect was Kept. -- JLaTondre 01:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

only capitalization difference Timtsai 06:33, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, plausible search term --Gavia immer 15:53, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral; Wikipedia's Go button handles these automatically, so it doesn't help with the search (and this is not a situation in which we want to aid accidental linking, as it would encourage the use of incorrect capitalisation in the article it's being linked to from). However, it probably isn't worth the database space to delete this, as it's doing no harm. --ais523 13:32, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Keep. Links with incorrect capitalization are quickly found and easily fixed. The redirect keeps someone from (again) creating a duplicate article in the mistaken belief that we don't yet cover this topic. Rossami (talk) 23:16, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
