About translation of wikipaedia article.[edit]

Can i translate a wikipaedia original article into my home language? LavB83 (talk) 08:52, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, LavB83. The answer is "yes, but". Please read WP:TRANSLATEUS, paying special attention to the legal requirement to attribute the source of your translation. Cullen328 (talk) 09:13, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You'll find advice at WP:TRANSLATE for translation into the English Wikipedia, and WP:TRANSLATEUS for translation from enwiki into another language's Wikipedia. - David Biddulph (talk) 09:15, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikilink not available[edit]

Why, in this paragraph, is this sign present (it looks like a wikilink, but it is not)? "May 14, 2011, Aysal replaced Adnan Polat to become the 34th President of Galatasaray, with a record of the highest majority of votes in the 106-year-history of Galatasaray, winning 2,998 of the 4,019 votes cast.[1]" (History of Galatasaray S.K.). JackkBrown (talk) 15:21, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Because somebody put it there. Presumably for the same reason as the last time you asked this question, because somebody copied the text over from somewhere without the underlying citations. ColinFine (talk) 15:36, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: also here: "Barcelona, originally founded as Nueva Barcelona del Cerro Santo, New Barcelona or also called La Nueva Barcelona, is a city located in the northeast of Venezuela. Founded in 1557 by the Spanish military conquistador of Catalan origin Joan Orpí, it is the capital of the Anzoátegui State. Barcelona has a population of 954,928 inhabitants, according to INE data (2011)[1]". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barcelona,_Venezuela#. JackkBrown (talk) 16:34, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It usually happens because somebody copied content from a rendered page instead of the source text as they should. If you copy from the rendered page then you miss all citation code, template calls, wikilinks and so on. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:36, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adding an NGO[edit]

I am failing to add Civicom Aid to wikipedia platform. Can someone add t he name necessary text Civicomaid (talk) 17:46, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Civicomaid: Your attempts to add Civicom Aid to List of non-governmental organisations in Kenya are futile as there isn't an article on the organisation yet. What's more, your username violates Wikipedia's username policy as a corporate username. Please understand that Wikipedia is not for promotional purposes or "getting the word out". —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:26, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article assessment[edit]

What is the difference between a Start and YStart article? Really not getting it. Dancing Dollar (let's talk) 18:33, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dancing Dollar: Please always post an example when possible. I don't know where you saw "YStart" but it appears to be a temporary error. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Did I miss the memo?. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:42, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can Wikipedia RESTORE the article I erroneously "corrected"?[edit]

The article is "Paulette Jordan." I erroneously corrected her thumbnail sketch based on out-of-date information provided by official Idaho State Legislature site https://legislature.idaho.gov/legislators/membership/2017/id3144/. I'm unable to correct the thumbnail sketch, because all I know about the ending date of her term is it was 2018--although this would be better than nothing?! Deni-Sonja (talk) 23:34, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Deni-Sonja done! In the future, you can WP:UNDO your own edit. I did it for you this time.  Courtesy link: Paulette Jordan. Check out WP:TUTORIAL to learn how to edit Wikipedia. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 23:45, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
