Wikinews edits[edit]

Hello, could you help me to wikify and simplify my writing in this wikinews article in English?. https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/L%C3%B3pez_Obrador_announces_that_he_will_reinforce_the_southern_border_of_Mexico_after_the_end_of_Title_42_in_the_US. --Jusaset (talk) 12:57, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Snow leopard[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Snow leopard you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Rollback granted[edit]

Hi Dancing Dollar. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2023-06-18. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:21, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Semi automated edits[edit]

You must check before saving to avoid inducing errors like this. (Consider: it would not be ", signed on 14 February 1914, by...") (t · c) buidhe 14:01, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Buidhe: Don't leave off-topic remarks on my talk page; there is nothing wrong with that change. You're making no sense to me at all, really. Dancing Dollar (let's talk) 14:15, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
PS, don't you know that in an MDY format, the year should be followed by a comma or full stop. Example "I went to Paris on May 23, 2020, with my family." Dancing Dollar (let's talk) 14:22, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you cannot tell what a grammar error in English is you have no business using semi-automatic tools to "correct" supposed errors. You changed Administrative-territorial division of Turkish Armenia according to the final Draft of Armenian reforms in the Ottoman Empire, signed on February 8, 1914 by representatives of the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire and providing for the creation of 2 provinces (gouvernorats general) under the control of inspectors general appointed by the Great Powers to Administrative-territorial division of Turkish Armenia according to the final Draft of Armenian reforms in the Ottoman Empire, signed on February 8, 1914, by representatives of the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire and providing for the creation of 2 provinces (gouvernorats general) under the control of inspectors general appointed by the Great Powers. It's easy to tell this is incorrect by switching the date format to dmy dates. (t · c) buidhe 14:22, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All right, it seems that your change may be an acceptable usage in American English date style , however, you are still "correcting" something that wasn't wrong to begin with, which should not be done. (t · c) buidhe 14:25, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Buidhe: Please study the distinction between DMY and MDY because it appears that you do not comprehend, and I will correct any obvious typos. You're using the MDY format incorrectly, hence it's a typo. Dancing Dollar (let's talk) 14:31, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There's no consensus that the way it was before is erroneous according to the discussion that I linked. You should not be using semiautomatic tools to "correct" something that is not an obvious error. Per WP:ASSISTED, Contributors intending to make a large number of assisted edits are advised to first ensure that there is a clear consensus that such edits are desired. (t · c) buidhe 17:34, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What does fixing typos got to do with bots? Please just leave me alone. Dancing Dollar (let's talk) 17:58, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a typo. Editors making mass edits need to be attentive to consensus as to whether their edits are actually beneficial, even if their intention is to fix perceived errors. (t · c) buidhe 21:14, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Leopard[edit]

On 23 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Leopard, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the ancient Romans kept leopards in captivity to be used in the executions of criminals? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Leopard. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Leopard), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi, I think you may have 'undid' an edit I made in error to this page. I updated the opening hours of the library and have also included an updated source for it too. It's been tagged 'AntiVandal'. Could you revert your rollback please or explain why this edit should be removed. Thanks 2ManyCats4Me (talk) 20:04, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of African wild dog[edit]

The article African wild dog you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:African wild dog for comments about the article, and Talk:African wild dog/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Chiswick Chap -- Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:42, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A human here! - great work, and happy you are on the Biology and Medicine GA team. I would like to invite you to review an article from the GAN list. Of course I'd be delighted if it was one of mine, but either way it is great if nominators can spare the time to do some reviews too. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:44, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiswick Chap: It's my third GA, thank you. I also reviewed two articles, of which I gave one a pass and one a fail. I'll evaluate the articles you nominated as well after June 14 because I don't believe I'll be able to edit Wikipedia then, but when I return, I'll guarantee I'll review both the articles you nominated and the other articles in the subcategory.
