Search for articles that contain a specific template[edit]

I'd like to search for articles which contain this template {{Template:Image requested}} (on their talk page), and also contain the word 'bank' in their title. How would I do this? –Vuccala 02:55, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please add the publisher in citation number 1, I could not get it right. Sorry and thanks 175.38.42.62 (talk) 03:09, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor. I have expanded the citation, which needed to use the {{cite journal}} template. However, I'm concerned that you have placed the citation in the lead of the article when it is not referred to elsewhere in the main text. According to WP:LEAD, that portion of the article should be summarising what is discussed elsewhere and so it is unusual for it to be the only mention. Yahoo Mail[edit]

What happened to wikipedia today?[edit]

Suddenly today the look of wikipedia pages has changed without explanation or warning. Am I doing something different, or has the look of wikipedia changed in the last day? For one thing, the top part of the window does not scroll, like many other annoying websites. I have a small screen, and I do not want to loose that viewing space. Has there been a discussion about this that I don't know of? I feel like I am coming in in the middle of a movie. Comfr (talk) 07:42, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@comfr: sounds like you accidentally switched to the mw:vector 2022 skin. to switch back, click the "switch to old look" at the left toolbar. lettherebedarklight晚安 07:44, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lettherebedarklight Thanks for your quick reply. I switched to vector several days ago, and I observed changes then. But today things changed drastically again. Is vector in constant flux? Comfr (talk) 07:53, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@comfr: two skins are named vector: vector 2022 and mw:vector 2010. lettherebedarklight晚安 08:04, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If following article from a different Wiki, has grammatical mistakes[edit]

Hello there. First of all, I'm sorry that English is not my mother-language because I live here in Austria and I speak German. Now I tried to work out this article but I'm afraid that I made some grammatical mistakes on this article. Can someone please verify this article if it has grammatical mistakes? If yes, then please help me to correct this article perfectly. Thanks very much. 2001:871:22:34CB:E8C1:881F:5848:2F5C (talk) 09:10, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fandom Wikis are not in any way associated with Wikipedia. You'll have to ask for help there. AndyTheGrump (talk) 09:12, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can confirm that the article has grammatical mistakes in practically every sentence. Shantavira|feed me 09:26, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please make an exception and help me to correct the grammatical mistakes on this Painkiller City on Water article? I would feel very satisfied. You have to help me. Please help me. 2001:871:22:34CB:E8C1:881F:5848:2F5C (talk) 09:52, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia has an article on Painkiller (video game), perhaps you could look at this, and see if it can be improved instead? Chaheel Riens (talk) 12:47, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Editing should be the link at Fandom which tells you how to edit "over there". As mentioned, we here can't help you with the Fandom website. Fandom does have lots of Help pages. David10244 (talk) 06:33, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If I am donating money to Wikimedia foundation, will my page won't be get deleted from Wikipedia?[edit]

As a Wikimedia donor and officially associated with Wikimedia Foundation, is there any chance that my Wikipedia page won't get deleted? Dipikasomvanshi (talk) 11:14, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not you make a donation to WMF has no effect on whether a page on the English Wikipedia gets deleted. Please read the deletion policy. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:20, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dipikasomvanshi Being a donor also does not make you "officially associated" with the Foundation. If it did, and if it meant that articles (not "pages") one created would not be deleted, everyone would donate to preserve their articles and this would cease to be a neutrally written encyclopedia, it would just be web space for sale. 331dot (talk) 11:46, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. Dipikasomvanshi (talk) 11:59, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Money[edit]

You are always asking me for money but you allow no feedback I would like to respond to your request because I have questions — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.155.84.254 (talk) 20:47, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The donation banners are from the Wikimedia Foundation, not from the English Wikipedia itself. See WP:DONATE for more information and where you can ask questions. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:49, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Use of C-Span images[edit]

Can I use an Image from a C-SPAN brodadcast? Maybe if I crop the logo out because it is a senate committee hearing? The image in question is for the page Arnold Kanter thanks GameOfAwesome (talk) 21:03, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, GameOfAwesome. Please read WP:CSPAN which says: "Video coverage of the debates originating from the chambers of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate is in the public domain and as such, may be used without restriction or attribution." Cullen328 (talk) 21:11, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thank you GameOfAwesome (talk) 21:13, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@GameOfAwesome: So yes, from a copyright standpoint you can use them either modified or unmodified and either with or without attribution. However, Wikipedia rules still apply: you will need to state where you got the image (i.e., a "reference to a reliable source") and preferably what you did to modify it. Just putting this information in the image description on Commons will suffice.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Arch dude (talkcontribs) 21:37, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi GameOfAwesome. This type of thing can be bit more complicated than posted above. You need to make sure that the entire content of the screenshot originated with the C-Span broadcast. For example, if you just want to upload a screenshot of someone addressing the committee and it contains official logos created by an employee of the US federal government (perhaps the committee's logo on the dais or the microphone), then it's probably OK. On the other hand, if the screenshot contains copyrighted content created by a third-party (e.g. a private individual or company) that's not part of the US federal government, then including such content might be tricky as explained here. It could possibly be argued that the content is a case of de minimis or incidental in such a case (see c:COM:DM for more on this), but that depends on the nature of the screenshot. A perhaps easy-to-understand example might be someone addressing the committee about their concerns related to violent or sexual imagery being used in product packaging. During their appearance, they hold up a product that they believe illustrates their concerns. You might be able to upload a screenshot of them holding up the product under a de minimis argument, but you can't really crop down the screenshot to just only show the packaging of the product so that you can use that for identification purpose in a Wikipedia article about the product. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:55, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@GameOfAwesome Given all of these answers, I don't think you need to crop the C-Span logo out, if that's the logo you are asking about. David10244 (talk) 06:37, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - I just removed something - a "re-direct" - which was at the top of this page. I am not sure if it was the right thing to do. and cant get it back. Sorry - Please fix/return if you think this is important. 175.38.42.62 (talk) 22:04, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the redirect to the top of the article. Thank you for reporting it. Maproom (talk) 23:29, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
