June 19[edit]

Moving an entry public[edit]

I contributed an article a while back but noticed that it is not yet live. It had been reviewed and edited by a Wikipedia Editor with admin privileges yet it hasn't gone live. Any advice on how I can proceed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thexpenman (talkcontribs)

@Thexpenman: The draft hasn't been reviewed. The admin only inserted a template for draft categories and did nothing beyond that. You would have to submit it for review before any reviewers take a look at it. To submit the draft for review, add {{subst:submit}} at the top of the page. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 02:47, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a new article. Without Wizard[edit]

How long before you can create articles on your own? Ty. --Gulfratz21200 (talk) 10:40, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gulfratz21200 You must have 10 edits and your account must be four days old to be technically able to create articles yourself, but it is strongly recommended that new users submit drafts for review through Articles for Creation first, until you gain much experience in article creation. Article creation is one of the hardest tasks to perform on Wikipedia, and diving right in without experience and knowledge often leads to disappointment, frustration, anger, and other bad feelings that we don't want you to have. Please also use the new user tutorial. 331dot (talk) 10:49, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Gulfratz21200. To echo what 331dot said: your question is like "How long after I start learning a language like say Spanish before I start contributing articles to a Spanish magazine?" You could do it almost right away, but you are likely to waste a lot of your own time and effort, and other people's, and get a lot of disappointment and frustration. I recommend spending several months improving existing articles (at first in small ways) while you learn how Wikipedia works. --ColinFine (talk) 13:10, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving an entry from Sandbox to public view[edit]

How is an entry moved from the Sandbox to public view? Can someone please give me a link to an explanation? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FahnbullehV (talkcontribs) 19 June 2021 12:50 (UTC)

@FahnbullehV: See here: Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft#Ready!. Victor Schmidt (talk) 13:23, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Pardo[edit]

Hi,

I am Robert Pardo, algo trading software pioneer, distinguished author (The Evaluation and Optimization of Trading Strategies), consultant and money manager.

There used to be a page about me on Wikipedia. I looked for it today to evaluate what needed to be done to update it. It is no longer there.

What happened to it?

Best,

Bob Pardo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:246:4A00:9770:29ED:89EA:349E:5E5D (talk) 20:18, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The page Robert_E._Pardo was deleted some time ago. You can also see the reason for the deletion. Ruslik_Zero 20:43, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Having checked, the article was an unreferenced BLP at the time of deletion. Not surprising it was deleted. Mjroots (talk) 13:51, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

problems with pacing an image in an article I created[edit]

I have created an article on wikipedia.fr for a friend who passed away https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alain_A._Bonnet. I am unable to insert his photo. I follow the instructions and I get the message

Each Wikipedia is a separate project. You will need to ask for help at the French Wikipedia: [1] RudolfRed (talk) 23:04, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, RudolfRed, the problem was in uploading a picture to Commons. Stanmatwin, Commons is a separate project from all the different editions of Wikipedia: you need to ask at Commons:Commons:Help desk. --ColinFine (talk) 23:32, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
