Becoming an auto-confirm user.[edit]

Hi, I want to become an auto-confirmed user to create a new article in Wikipedia. I have tried many times to contribute some information by editing articles. but as a result, I was blocked. Can you pls help me to make 10 edits and become an auto-confirmed user? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajmalnawoda (talkcontribs) 10:10, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you are blocked, you are evading your block by creating and using this account. You will need to request unblock from your original account. 331dot (talk) 10:20, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

rollback to 20Jan2021[edit]

How can I restore my TalkPage to what it was before, i.e. to: title=User_talk:Pi314m&oldid=1001677894 (19:56 20 Jan 21) Pi314m (talk) 12:53, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to the URL you have posted part of, to look at the old version, you'll find a link at the top which says "Restore this version", Pi314m. --ColinFine (talk) 13:40, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I restored your old page. As Colin says, it's not difficult to restore an old page version, but I figured I might as well do it since you made a request. If that's not what you wanted, let me know. Best ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 13:48, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"restore this version" only appears if you enable Twinkle at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. Otherwise you can click the Edit tab and save the page. See more at Help:Reverting. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:34, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, PrimeHunter: I didn't realise that. --ColinFine (talk) 14:39, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
haha, it looks like we are both spoiled by Twinkle. Thanks for the heads up. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 14:47, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Force font for special characters?[edit]

Hi, I recently created Stick figure#Unicode (Had some trouble creating the table, but got there in the end). It has special characters, the only font I know to have them is OpenMoji (OpenMoji), there are also combining character sequences that that font supports.
I was wondering if there is a way to suggest to the browser to use that font if it is installed. At current it displays tofu, even though I have the font installed.
I was thinking of <span style="font-family:'OpenMoji Color';">🯆‍👗</span> (this works, I tested it). However that would mean the font is forced with no fallback, meaning that if they don't have OpenMoji, but do have a different font that supports it (or the default fonts get updated to inclide it), they would see tofu.

Citing page numbers from Google Books[edit]

Hello, I'm wondering if there's a way to find page numbers from Google Books when they don't appear in the copy of the book Google shows. Recently I created the article Malcolm Fairley, and I've found quite a useful source from Google Books that I'd like to cite (here), but their copy doesn't appear to display any page numbers. I was going to use Harvard citation but that requires me to input a page number for it to work properly. So, is there any way to get the page numbers without buying a physical copy of the book, or will it be a case of just citing it as a cite book in the text itself? Thanks in advance, This is Paul (talk) 18:48, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@This is Paul: You could try asking on the talk page of a relevant wikiproject whether any editor there has the book. WorldCat can tell you which libraries hold the book. There is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange, which I haven't tried myself. TSventon (talk) 20:57, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ok cheers, I've got it to work without the page numbers, but adding them would improve the look of the article so I'll ask if anyone has a copy. This is Paul (talk) 21:04, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Was trying to edit a page and now all the content is missing!![edit]

How do you fix when all the content seemingly disappeared when I tried to add content!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:344:C000:2D50:523:765A:A9BE:CCC8 (talk) 19:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The content of List_of_Levin_College_of_Law_graduates is still very much in place. Ruslik_Zero 20:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IP user. The messages are telling you that you have somehow added a <ref> tag without adding its closing </ref>, and the messages link to a help page which explains this. You can always undo the last edit by picking "History", finding the edit in question and "Undo". --ColinFine (talk) 22:33, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictory data about river Derwent, Derbyshire.[edit]

Hello everybody, the page River Derwent, Derbyshire says in the first lines that it is 106 km long, while in the template it says 80 km long. The latter should be the right length, it is given as "about 50 miles long" in the Derbyshire Rivers web site. May I correct the page myself or somebody else should make the correction? Thank you, --Gab.pr (talk) 20:53, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gab.pr: welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for spotting a possible error. You may fix it yourself, but don't assume 50 miles is correct. Later in the article it says that it's meandering course adds 16 miles to its length (which corresponds to the 66 miles in the lede. If possible, check the cited references to see what the sources say. RudolfRed (talk) 21:11, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Gab.pr, adding on to RudolfRed's response, you may want to bring this up at the article's talk page to raise your concerns before making any changes so that regular editors (if any) can help clarify the discrepancy. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 05:36, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's complicated, as there are differing way of measuring, but there is already a partial explanation on the article talk page from eight years ago. Maybe that information could be incorporated into the article, but as Tenryuu says, that would be the best place to further discuss this.--Shantavira|feed me 10:25, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
