What's going on with the infobox on Politics of Austria?[edit]

See the page Politics of Austria (current revision). The template Infobox political system is not rendering—the plain text that makes it displays. I've tried to fix it to no avail. What is the problem here? Can someone please fix it?
Thanks, DemonDays64 | Tell me if I'm doing something wrong :P 00:36, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It was the two IP edits on the 17th of October which broke it. I think I've fixed it now. DuncanHill (talk) 00:41, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Specifically, it was the unclosed wikilink (the opening "[[" without a closing "]]") around "Coat of arms" in the caption parameter that caused the problem. Broken formatting like that within a transcluded template will often break the entire template. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 15:30, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ref number 196 has the page number incorrectly as 2013. It is hard for me to get the actual page number for the quote. please fix Thanks 203.132.68.1 (talk) 01:49, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@203.132.68.1: I removed the page number - the source doesn't show page numbers. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 02:56, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editable text disappeared on Tohorot[edit]

I was adding an interlanguage link to an article in Hebrew in the first section of Tohorot and things got wierd. Whenever editing either the entire article or the first section (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tohorot&action=edit) or (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tohorot&action=edit&section=0), nothing shows up in the edit box. This didn't occur until I copied in the name of the article in Hebrew. Did I screw up the LtoR and RtoL somehow which did this? I'm sure that by reverting to the last version that I can make this issue go away, but I thought I'd ask here first (should I ask at WP:VPT instead?)Naraht (talk) 02:20, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Naraht: I'm not seeing any problems. Are you saying you click edit and then the article text doesn't show in the editing box? Might it be a cache issue? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 02:52, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtempleton: wierder than that. Flashes in the edit box for a moment and then disappears. Can you tell if there is anything odd with the RtoL in the Hebrew in the ill template?Naraht (talk) 03:01, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Naraht: It worked for me but you placed an odd newline, maybe to prevent some of the wikitext after Hebrew text from displaying right-to-left. I used another method with no newline but it may be browser dependent. Does [1] work for you? If not then does it work to use safemode or log out? Maybe you have a misbehaving script. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:42, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: It looks good now even with normal editing. I'm going to ill the remaining entries that have no english article in the same way. Thanx!Naraht (talk) 14:15, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit a table[edit]

I'm trying to edit the table on the article [[2]] In the code it's referenced as table of DoD agencies. But the code for the table itself doesn't appear so I can edit it. Any help here would be appreciated. I use the standard editor, not the visual editor. Thanks. Sephiroth storm (talk) 04:09, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sephiroth storm, Thats because the table is transcluded. That means the table is defined as a template on this page: Template:Table of DoD agencies, and then the template is copied onto the page when it is rendered. If you want to change the table, you must change the template. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:29, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding wiki page of Akbar Nawas[edit]

Hello,

I am Aravind of Chennai City FC, the current football club of Mr. Akbar Nawas. There are many edits that he would like to be made with regard to his page. There are many clubs that he has played for and/or coached that are not on this page. We would like to rectify this ASAP. Please advise on how to edit or if somebody can help us edit or do the editing for us as we do not really know how to.

Regards, Aravind Chennai City FC — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpartanAC1994 (talkcontribs) 09:26, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aravind. He, or you, can make a request on the talk page, Talk:Akbar Nawas. The request should be as specific as possible (eg "Please add xxxx to the second paragraph", or "Please change yyy to zzz", and since any information to be added must appear in a published source, it would be helpful if you pointed to the source. It would also be helpful if you provided a published source for the unreferenced biographical information already in the article. See edit request for more details. Please note that it is not "his page"; it is Wikipedia's article about him. --ColinFine (talk) 10:30, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi SpartanAC1994. You also need to declare your WP:Paid status before making any further edits if you are in any way paid by the club or by the subject. You might also like to create an account that is specific to yourself since Wikipedia accounts cannot be shared. Dbfirs 13:37, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit this tab page not visible[edit]

Hello,

I'm trying to update a Wiki page but the tab Edit this page is not available to me. Not just on the entry I'm trying to update but any entry. Any idea why this is?

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bn4d (talkcontribs) 16:38, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bn4d How did you edit this page? 331dot (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Bn4d By 'entry' do you mean section or article? If you're looking at an old revision, then the edit tabs and all section-edit links will not be present. If you've popped into the mobile site, look for an icon like a pencil. Not sure what happens with protected pages if you're not auto confirmed. Pelagic (talk) 20:01, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please direct me to a Project dealing with South African themes, especially art if possible[edit]

Hi guys, Please provide instructions to search for ongoing Wikipedia projects by subject. At this point I am particularly interested in groups dealing with South African Art and/or culture. Thank you.Neuralia (talk) 17:05, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Neuralia, have you looked at Wikipedia:WikiProject#Finding_a_project? A problem with Wikiprojects can be that there's not a lot of activity in them, but you'll find what you find. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:20, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want to start a new article and would like some help.[edit]

Hello. My name is Ramesty. I've been thinking about starting another article but haven't written on Wikipedia in a long time, so I am a little rusty. The article is (or would be) about a company named Abilene Machine. I think it is significant enough to have an article primarily because of its size. I have sort have forgotten about what to put in an article. I know that it consists general stuff along with citations, so let's start off with that. I am wondering where do I get this information. I know the owner myself because I know the person that cleans his house, so would asking about things be enough or would this need to be in an article, as in a newspaper? Please help me out. Thanks, Ramesty (talk) 19:11, 6 November 2019 (UTC).[reply]

Ramesty Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state, so personal interviews with company staff would not be acceptable as a source; citations need to be to publicly available sources independent of the company. The company would need to meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable company in order to merit an article here- and it isn't just based on size. You may want to read Your First Article to learn more about what goes into a new article. 331dot (talk) 19:51, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ramesty:Once you have convinced yourself (and you think other editors will agree) that the company meets the notability guidelines for a company (WP:NCORP), then feel free to write the article. You may find it easier to look at a few articles about companies and use the layout of one you like as a starting point. -Arch dude (talk) 05:00, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Company changed its name[edit]

I work with a company who changed their name and URL. I made the edits to Wiki and someone reverted them to the incorrect info. I sourced the name change and their website talks about the rebranding. Additionally the little sidebar needs the new logo. How do I change the one that is there? Researchedandrespected (talk) 19:32, 6 November 2019 (UTC)ResearchedandRespected[reply]

Researchedandrespected First, you must review and comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies, as you have some required formal declarations to make(compliance with the paid editing policy is a Terms of Use requirement if you are paid). You should also read about how to make edit requests, which is how COI editors can contribute in the area of their COI. You can make such requests on the article talk page.
Regarding your edit, the source you offered was a piece written by the company; this might be acceptable for something like the name change, but that's it. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state, not what a company wants to say about itself(although primary sources are sometimes allowed for certain facts). Again, this should be discussed in an edit request on the article talk page. 331dot (talk) 19:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No one else uses this account. I didn't want to use my actual name as I didn't see others doing that and thought likely a good policy. I do work with this company but thought providing their logo and name change was something undeniable, i.e. not partial it is fact as you can see on their website. www.nutterhomeloans.com

So, if I can't change how do we get it changed? Right now Wiki info is dated and wrong. Thanks Can you updated?Researchedandrespected (talk) 00:34, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Researchedandrespected As I stated, once you comply with the policies I mentioned above, you may make an edit request(click for instructions) on the article talk page. 331dot (talk) 00:38, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editing source of talk pages[edit]

I didn't get the memo that WP is cutting back on source editing. I tried visiting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TTR#/talk?veaction=editsource but no joy. Looks like I can only use the WYSIWYG interface. Hoping for a pointer to more information about this change. Why can't talk page source be edited anymore? tbc (talk) 21:15, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tim Chambers: What problem are you encountering or what sort of 'error message' did you get? Clicking edit source seems to work for me. Eagleash (talk) 22:04, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:TTR&action=edit works just fine for me. Where does the "#/talk?veaction=editsource" URL come from? Eman235/talk 22:05, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking and letting me know. Worked fine when I used your URL, and I have committed my edit. I got _my_ URL based on the pattern I saw editing the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TTR?veaction=editsource but obviously it doesn't work on talk pages. It's been so long since I used it that I couldn't remember the CGI is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:TTR&action=edit tbc (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:46, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tim Chambers: You don't have to manually change url's to switch between the source editor and VisualEditor. Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing has an option to display edit links for both or one of them. Both editors have a pencil icon at the top right to switch to the other editor during an edit. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:19, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Except on talk pages where there is no UI for entering Visual Editor. Something to do with the mess that is ::: and <dd> for indents, I believe (VE does a round-trip of wikitext to HTML and back). But for non-talk pages, follow PrimeHunter's advice about how to access the wikitext editor. Pelagic (talk) 20:16, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, missed pinging Tim. Pelagic (talk) 20:18, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think I'm all set! tbc (talk) 16:08, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a Wikipedia page[edit]

Is it possible to get this person put on Wikipedia

If the subject meets Wikipedia's requirement of notability, and specifically WP:Notability (academics), then an article can be written. See the advice at WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 22:25, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
