November 30[edit]

Was the Article I Wrote Submitted?[edit]

Hello, I submitted an article for review on Wednesday (11/27/19) and I'd like to find out whether I submitted it correctly and it will be reviewed. How can I make sure that I submitted my article correctly?

Kgault (talk) 00:23, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What was the title of the article? It does not appear in your contributions but maybe you submitted it with another username? – Thjarkur (talk) 00:25, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Re: I don't see any trace of a page named "Kenneth G. Winans" so it is possible that something went wrong when you clicked "Submit". You can try again by starting another draft article. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:42, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Minor places in Beleriand[edit]

I tried to nominate this page for deletion, but I have made a mess of it, and don't know how to fix it.--Jack Upland (talk) 04:34, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Now fixed. Thanks.--Jack Upland (talk) 04:42, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've undone your blanking of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Minor places in Beleriand (2nd nomination). The easiest way of performing all the steps of an AFD nomination is to use Twinkle. --David Biddulph (talk) 04:43, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Book Creation Tool Not Allowing Creation of PDFs[edit]

I am currently trying to create a book with a variety of articles. When I go to the "Manage Your Book" page, the option to "Download" is greyed out.

Upon clicking the "Learn More" link (Here), I noticed that discussion on the tool had largely concluded (since there has been no update since July of this year) and a new version of the PDF renderer has been launched. Is there a reason for the lack of an e-book downloading functionality? Or has the tool simply not been re-instated.

Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.176.68.225 (talk) 04:37, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki page is in "Sandbox". How to move to general reading[edit]

Wiki page was created in "sandbox". After weeks and weeks of searching, I, nor my only contributor, can figure out how to move it out of "sandbox" and into general reading.

Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you, K Joshua Gabriel Behind Reality (band) — Preceding unsigned comment added by BehindReality (talkcontribs) 11:11, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

BehindReality First, have multiple people had access to the account you are using? That is not permitted; each account is for the use of a single individual. Your username also cannot be that of any organization or band; please visit Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS to make a username change request immediately. You will also need to review conflict of interest and paid editing as you have some required declarations to make.
Your draft is, frankly, a long way from being a valid Wikipedia article, and if moved to the main encyclopedia now, would likely be nominated for deletion quickly. It is a promotional piece for your band written from the point of view of a band member; Wikipedia articles are not for that. They must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability; in this case, the definition of a notable band. (please review). Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself. Sources like interviews, the band website, or other primary sources are not acceptable for establishing notability. Wikipedia also much prefers that independent editors write about article subjects, though those with a COI may submit drafts using Articles for Creation.
Before working on your draft some more(and after you change your username), I would suggest that you read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial to get a better idea of the purpose of Wikipedia and how things work here. Once you do that, you can use Articles for Creation to submit a new draft for review, if your band meets the criteria. 331dot (talk) 11:32, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Old deleted page[edit]

Hello there,

I would like to have access into a deleted page about the Greek singer "Νότης Βολανάκης" ("Notis Volanakis") in order to edit it and launch it again.

Do you know how is this possible with your old archive in order to find it and fix it?

Thank you very much,

George Louridas — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.237.204.37 (talk) 16:26, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is no record of such a page ever having existed. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:38, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if you might be asking about an article that was deleted from the Greek Wikipedia? If that is the case, then you need to ask there: each language Wikipedia is an entirely separate project, and nobody here is likely to have knowledge or adminstrator rights in el-wiki. Try el:Βικιπαίδεια:Βοήθεια. --ColinFine (talk) 17:18, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jamal HABROUSH AL SUWAIDI[edit]

Dear Sirs,

We are HABROOSH ART FOUNDATION, the Foundation which represents the Emirati Artist Jamal HABROUSH AL SUWAIDI, this Artist is one of the leading Emirati Artists and his works are included in numerous private and public collections including the Olympic Museum, National Museum of China, UNHCR, OPEC...etc and we would like to add his biography on wikipedia, could you please let us know how a Biography of an Artist can be added.

All the Best HABROOSH ART FOUNDATION The Artist's Foundation — Preceding unsigned comment added by Habroosh Art Foundation (talkcontribs) 16:26, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Habroosh Art Foundation The first thing you need to do is designate a single person to exclusively operate your account, as accounts cannot be shared, and that person needs to request a change of username at Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS. Usernames cannot be that of any organization and must indicate a specific individual is exclusively operating the account; your real name is not required.
You will also have some required disclosures to make, please review conflict of interest and paid editing. 331dot (talk) 16:32, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please review the Wikipedia definition of a notable artist, and if this person meets the definition as indicated with significant coverage in independent reliable sources, he may merit a Wikipedia article, but it is usually difficult for those in your position to write one due to the conflict of interest. You might be able to create and submit a draft for review using Articles for Creation once the other issues are addressed. 331dot (talk) 16:35, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas M. Montgomery[edit]

Captain Raju: The section I deleted is constructive. The section contained tabloid journalism and contentious material that is poorly sourced and potentially libelous, all in violation of Wikipedia's standards.

Lieutenant Colonel Dave Stockwell — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dave Stockwell (talkcontribs) 18:38, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Captain Raju: In Thomas M. Montgomery's section titled Honors and Awards, the last line should read Honor Cross in Silver of the German Armed Forces. There are several lines beneath that last line. How can I delete them?

Lieutenant Colonel Stockwell

@Dave Stockwell: most other editors do not read the help desk, so you must communicate with the other editor elsewhere. This is usually done on the other editor's user talk page. In the case of an article discussion, communicate on the article's talk page. "ping" the other editor with {{ping}} in your discussion to alert them. If you think a source is too poor to use, ask at Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard. Please be careful when using legal terms like "libel": see WP:LEGAL. About that content: we do require stronger sourcing when a statement is about a living person: see WP:BLP, so you merely need to arrive at a consensus that the source might be "iffy". -Arch dude (talk) 19:02, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

how to find page created by us[edit]

Nirmaldev Who is "us"? Accounts cannot be shared. Examining your edit history shows that you have not created any articles, so you will need to give much more information to those here in order to be able to help you. 331dot (talk) 19:07, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This account vandalized an article attempting to create a new article about a firm called Frogwalk, whose founder is named Nirmal Dev. It has been blocked as a spam-only account. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:15, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Facts or Opinions?[edit]

While it is easy to agree on physical and verifiable facts such as the boiling point of water and call them facts, when it comes to history and spirituality, what is being passed off within Wikipedia is a mixture of beliefs and opinions portrayed as being true. Pages that consist of opinions can be corrected to make better historical and humane sense but then anyone can transform those pages to reflect their own opinion which is given more weight if they can reference someone else who shares their opinion. In a sense this is all very nice that people can share their opinions and be heard yet in doing so they are also censoring the truth. Maybe Wikipedia should be renamed as wiki-opinion? (Suanqu (talk) 22:04, 30 November 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Hello, Suanqu. You might find the essay WP:Verifiability, not truth helpful. --ColinFine (talk) 22:17, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also direct you to WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS, given your comments at Talk:Hinduism (which FYI I have moved to their own new section at the bottom of the page, commenting in the middle of an old thread is not a great idea if you want anyone to reply). Wikipedia only reports on what reliable sources have already reported, and this being the English-language Wikipedia it uses the most common English name for most article subjects. So, we have an article on Germany even though the Germans call their country Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Article titles exist to help readers find appropriate content, so we try to put content where readers will be looking for it. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:28, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kalapani, Lipulekh Pass and LimpiyaDhura are territory of Nepal[edit]

From the sign of "SUGAULI TREATY" done between Nepal and East India Company ,it is clear that the border between Nepal and India is the Mahakali river.

But it has been claiming the following lands by having the wrong ideas on the source of Mahakali river.

As, The United States Geological Survey (USGS) states that a river's "length may be considered to be the distance from the mouth to the most distant headwater source (irrespective of stream name), or from the mouth to the headwaters of the stream commonly known as the source stream". As an example of the second definition above, the USGS at times considers the Missouri River as a tributary of the Mississippi River. But it also follows the first definition above (along with virtually all other geographic authorities and publications) in using the combined Missouri - lower Mississippi length figure in lists of lengths of rivers around the world.[1] Most rivers have numerous tributaries and change names often; it is customary to regard the longest tributary or stem as the source, regardless of what name that watercourse may carry on local maps and in local usage.

From the above article it's clearly evident that LimpiyaDhura is the stream which is farthest from its estuary, making it the source of the river — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slayer D. Koy (talkcontribs) 22:25, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Slayer D. Koy, Wikipedia only reflects how reliable sources describe the situation and the articles in question do a good job of describing it. See also WP:NOR. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:33, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
