Getting published[edit]

I have been trying to publish a new article for over a month and every time I publish it gets declined by the same person David.moreno72 with no proper explanation. The Article is Leah Panapa and has been in my Sandbox for 48 days. The explanation is an insufficient citation, however, I have provided as many links for facts as possible. I need to understand how to fix the issue not flat a rejection every time. His rejection is actually the insufficiency. Mikeynez (talk) 08:34, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikeynez: Your draft has been rejected for notability, which I must agree with. You must demonstrate that the person you are writing about has significant, in depth coverage in independent reliable sources that indicates how they meet the notability guidelines as WP:BIO. Some of your references are actually Wikipedia articles, which are not valid references as Wikipedia is not a reliable source. How to remove 'Draft' from the title?[edit]

Deasraf Greetings to you. A draft page is page has not been published. When a Wikipedia the draft page is reviewed by a Wikipedia reviewer and deem the subject is notable and the content is supported by independent, reliable sources, then the article will be then be published and the "draft" will be removed. thank you. Edit Conflict] It is under review, according to the large buff-toned information box now at the top of it. If it is accepted by the reviewer(s) they will move it to the correct title.
Please note that it is not (a draft of) "a page for the subject", it is (a draft of) an article about the subject. This may seem like a pedantic difference, but it isn't. "Page for . . ." would imply that it was here for the benefit of, and under the control of, the subject: this is not how Wikipedia operates – it will be an article about the subject controlled collectively by Wikipedia editors, which can potentially be anyone except for any persons connected to the subject, who will be strongly discouraged from editing it themselves, although they will be welcome to offer reference-based suggestions on its Talk page for other, disinterested, editors to consider and implement (or not).

I strongly encourage using the idea lab after checking perennial proposals. While you may think your proposal is quite specific, experience shows that opening it up to the community raises a number of issues that might require tinkering or modification. Doing this at the idea lab allows you to work out the kinks and then you could propose it at the proposal section for an up or down vote. (One of the reasons the idea lab exists is that some people would submit a proposal to the proposal page, some would support, some would oppose and some would identify issues requiring modification. The proposal would get modified, but then it's easy to lose track of whether the support votes are for the original proposal or the modified proposal. Relatively easy to manage with one modification but quickly gets out of hand if there are substantial modifications. Hi, Just i wanted to let you that in Silk Smitha page under selected filmography the 1984 Telugu movie "Abhimanyudu" it is showing new film 2018 details.

But actual film stars acted are Sobhan babu, Radhika etc.

Thank you for pointing this out, Ravigvrk79. It seems that there is a new film with that title in Telugu, and the article Silk Smitha had an existing redlink which now was pointing to the wrong film. I have changed the link so that it points to the (currently non-existent) article Abhimanyudu (1984 film). In future, the talk page of the article (in this case Talk:Silk Smitha) is a better place for this sort of comment. --ColinFine (talk) 16:33, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Need a new page[edit]

When using a notice for a spinoff article on the primary article[edit]

When I made a new article that moved information into a list, such as "List of (insert series) characters", I had to submit it as a draft. Since it is to take one or two months for a review, how would I go about making a notice on the primary series article that it is in the middle of construction?

I am aware that you cannot link to drafts, but is it possible to do this by using a template that could be placed in the spin-off section? NowIsntItTime 15:40, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

Help Changing Title![edit]

Hello, I need help, as I created a new page but I cannot turn it from a draft to a normal page? Even the name I cannot change to simply "SyArt Gallery" instead of "Draft: SyArt Gallery". Could you please fix this or show how I could fix this? Weird Unicode error only in Firefox on Windows[edit]

This page has an odd rendering problem for me: Box_Drawing

Details on the talk page. Basically, one character is rendering as another in Firefox on Windows 7. Firefox on Red Hat doesn't have the problem, and Chrome and IE on the same Windows 7 box don't, and the characters render ok when copied and pasted out of the Wikipedia page. — PhilHibbs | talk 16:04, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

They're all rendering wrong in Firefox 62.0.2 on Windows 10. It looks to me as if the error is in the font that Firefox is using on Windows. (The glyphs look significantly different on Chrome, so it is presumably using a different font). --ColinFine (talk) 16:45, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
PhilHibbs, any rendering is done by the browser and it's fonts. The browser just receives numbers for these characters. The browser then picks the font and the font provides the 'glyph' (image). Errors for symbols that are more rare is rather common, especially on Windows where traditionally a lot of incomplete fonts used to be installed. The Operating System vendors also tend to be very unresponsive to fixing these problems :( —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 07:38, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

'Jon Magrin' page[edit]

Hi,

I made an edit (at the request of the subject of the wiki page), but it was reverted as it wasn't seen as 'constructive' by glane23. The issue that I agreed to change was the image of Jon Magrin- an editor changed it to a rather unflattering one last year and Jon thinks it was an unhappy rugby fan who might've been annoyed at his departure from his team last year. Hello, Rugbyfangirl19. What nobody seems to have explained to you yet is that is that if you were editing on the request of the subject of an article, you have a conflict of interest, and you are discouraged from editing the article directly. You (and he) are welcome to request changes, by posting on the article's talk page. In general, we will not change an article just because the subject doesn't like what is said (assuming that the content complies with Wikipedia's policies). But editors will usually be symphathetic to proposed improvements if they don't appear to be too self-serving.
In the case of a photo, I see why he might not like the picture File:Jonathan Magrin.jpg, but I think that it is the clearest of the three pictures currently in Wikimedia Commons in the category commons:Category:Jon Magrin. One way round this is to upload a new picture of him: there may be copyright problems using an existing picture of him (the copyright owner would need to explicitly release it under a suitable licence); but if you were able to take a picture of him, for example, you would own the copyright in that picture, and you could release it as you uploaded it: see Help:Upload. If you do that, and suggest on the talk page that your picture be used, I can't see anybody refusing if it is a good likeness. --ColinFine (talk) 20:45, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
