Concerning about Buddha Birth Place.[edit]

This is the well known and trustworthy Information site about everything in this existing World. When Buddha born, there was no one Nation formation. At that time only the group of settlements were forming. That time neither India nor Nepal existence. That was in the Vaidic land from High Himalaya to the Plane over the side of the Holly Gange River North to South as well as South Indus River (Sindhu) to East Lanka means almost 60% of Asia Continent was cover by Bharat Barsha. Definition about Buddha Birth Place is always controversial. Actually Gautam Buddha Birth Place is Kapilavastu Lumbani a small Shakya dynasty before 6the Century BCE.My concern is Kapilavastu Lumbani was not a part of India but this Holy place is in Nepal in this existing present World. So My concern is please fee free to open discussion from world famous Historian about the Buddha birth place. Other wise it makes the big confusion for all.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.46.55.191 (talk) 01:20, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template Infobox artist[edit]

Hi, dear people, the infobox can only display the date of birth, if one can give the specific date, but how do i put it, if i only have the year of birth? --Gyanda (talk) 06:43, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Use the {{Birth year}} or {{Birth year and age}} templates, instead of the {{Birth date and age}} template. - X201 (talk) 07:39, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the quick respoonse, dear X201! Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 08:23, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam Recently a draft of mine was deleted by you due to copyright infringement. The title of the draft was The Spectrum of Teaching Styles. The book from which I took certain sections and used them in my draft was written by Dr. Sara Ashworth with whom I collaborated to write that draft!!! Do you want us to transfer to you the copyrights of the book so that I can include those sections (and some images as well) as they appear on that book in my draft? Constantine Chatoupis (talk) 07:58, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A quick look suggests that the book was written by two authors: Ashworth and Muska Mosston.
When you write something in Wikipedia, you're asked to declare that
, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL
So for a start, the Wikimedia Foundation would need proof that Ashworth and Mosston released their book under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. I say "for a start", because there are other serious problems. I've just looked at the draft. Here's a quotation:
I was quite stunned. I was upset. It took me some time to recover, but that statement kept gnawing at me.
That is not encyclopedic material.
I also notice a remarkable number of references to papers by "Chatoupis, C." -- Hoary (talk) 08:16, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is a man with a mission, he created Draft:Mosston and Ashworth's Spectrum of Teaching Styles next, promo again with only primary sources. The first edit of this created the entire text without any references (added later) or wikilinks. Not a single reference had a url link which makes me think this is another copyright violation. I've deleted it on other grounds anyway, and posted a coi/RS/promo warning on his talk page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:06, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Team,

hello\

In the article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datta_Meghe_College_of_Engineering) "Datta Meghe College of Engineering" is written as "Datta Meme College of Engineering" above the info box on the right hand side of the first page. That should be corrected. That's a chain of colleges, in one of which I have completed my engineering. I know that's a Meme of my life to study Engineering (you know that if you are an Indian), but you cannot say that to my face!

PS:- If there was a Meme college of Engineering, I would have definitely gone there. LOL.

With Regards, Manjeet Kaur

I've fixed this and tagged the article for various defects Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:05, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially (ongoing) compromised account[edit]

I have an off-line stalking issue. Just got a Talk Page notification of a deletion my account made of a complete new WP:RSN topic. I was online but elsewhere with only watchlist open. Around a fortnight ago something similar happened - a deletion, supposedly by me, of a comment. My long term edit history displays I don't delete wholesale but engage on the Talk Page (even if it hurts). I've changed email & username passwords but I'd like to find out more about those edits. Was it my IP (it which case, as I've suspected, my end has a security problem) or was it a different IP/device? How can I pursue this before it happens again? Thanks AnonNep (talk) 13:51, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to transfer contributions from one account to another?[edit]

Hi. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer contributions from one account to another? I am only wondering if this is possible. Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 14:12, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 14:42, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: I know I could change my username, but I can't. This is due to me using my last rename. Thanks anyway. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 14:48, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know there was a maximum number of renames. ~ GB fan 14:52, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Changing the username of account seems to me like it is a different thing that transfering contributions, which there isn't any other way to do. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 14:55, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GB fan: When I started 2 years ago, I took renaming lightly. I have renamed 4 times. And, I don't think they'll let me rename again. I might be wrong though. Any advice? Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 15:00, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Go rename away (apologize in advance to the crats). Lourdes 15:01, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Apologize in advance to the cratsglobal renamers. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 15:02, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My advice, ask for a rename. ~ GB fan 15:03, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: Is it alright if I send them to you if they say to me "You've renamed too much?" Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 15:12, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, absolutely. Hosting global renamers is actually one of the key motivations I started editing here. And it's taken quite a few years for someone to finally help me achieve what I had always wanted. Thank you, Lourdes 16:47, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GB fan: and @Lourdes: Should I use Special:GlobalRenameRequest or Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple in order to rename? Which one, in your opinion, is better? Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 15:17, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Any option is okay. If you want help in choosing, for a penny I'll recommend the global option, Lourdes 16:32, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: My global one got denied, citing that I renamed too much. I have now requested at Usurpations. This is due to my proposed name 'Ye shall know the truth' being similar to 'YeShallKnowTheTruth'. Any advice on what to say if the request gets denied? Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 17:23, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Let's wait for their response. Lourdes 00:04, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: I got a response. He's willing to do it. One last question, in your opinion. Which is better. 'Ye shall know the truth' or 'You shall know the truth. Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 16:40, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ha ha. It's your choice; but my suggestion is, just go ahead with the name you've already requested ("Ye shall..."). And ensure you respond with an apology to the editor who has cautioned you at the CHU desk, and confirm that this would be the last time you would be requesting the change. Lourdes 18:40, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: I am going ahead with my name change, and have also apologised to 1997kB. Thanks for helping me change my name. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 19:13, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: It got declined this morning, citing that I don't have a serious reason to. So, I put another reason which I should of put in the original request. That reason is people will take me be seriously with my new name. He also told me to come back 6 months ago. Thanks. The Duke of NonsenseWhat is necessary for thee? 08:39, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Then that settles it; wait for 6 months before reapplying. Lourdes 10:25, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Roth Capital Partners Wikipedia page has been vandalized.[edit]

The ROTH Capital Partners Wikipedia page is full of inaccuracies, outright lies and it seems to have been done by a disgruntled person for what may be an investment gone sour. I have been a contributor to the Foundation and believe in Wikipedia. Please do not let bad actors ruin Wikipedia. Roth Capital, its CEO Byron Roth and many of its employees have been instrumental to many great causes. Their "bacchanals", as referred in the current page, are really opportunities to raise lots of money for worthy cause. Twisting the "information" around to harm the company actually harms us all. I cannot believe that bad actors are getting away with their devious ways of editing a Wikipedia page. Please help Wikipedia stay clean and free of people that probably what they want is to extort money from that company. I have know Roth Capital and the Roth family for a long time. I could write many pages of very positive true news but under the Wikipedia rules, they will appear as promotion so, staying within the Wikipedia rules, I ask the editors to please be watchful for those bad actors that all they want to do is harm that company. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahyamarun (talkcontribs) 17:28, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ahyamarun: When you have problems with content in an article, please comment in a new section on that article's talk page. When you see obvious vandalism, you are free to revert it even if you have a conflict of interest, or if uncertain, add {{request edit}} (with the curly braces) to your comment on the talk page to attract another editor. If the vandalism is re-instated, escalate as described in WP:DISPUTE, but always start on the talk page. Please "sign" your posts with four tildes (~~~~) so we can respond to you more easily. -Arch dude (talk) 18:49, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no obvious vandalism on the page Roth Capital Partners. The negative information is cited to highly reliable sources. Since you have a conflict of interest, please do not edit the article directly. see WP:COI. do not remove well-cited statements. You are free to indirectly edit by making recommendations on the talk page. If you cite reliable sources, information can be added even if it contradicts information already in the article. -Arch dude (talk) 19:03, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree that there's no vandalism, but I only question having so many subsections in the history section, since the named entities are all non-notable on their own, and it only serves to raise the profile of the negative items. That makes it look negatively biased. I'll comment on the talk page. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 20:02, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NCAA Division 1 basketball most overtimes[edit]

Feb. 1982 Mississippi Valley State University men basketball team defeated Southern University 73-72 in six overtimes Melvin Wilkins and Alvin Jackson Southern played 71 minutes. Baton Rouge Morning Advocate Sports re — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.172.103 (talkcontribs) 18:11, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

If you want to include some notable statistic about the NCAA division 1 basketball championship, you can perhaps open a discussion at the talk page of the article, giving exhaustive details on what you wish to include and which reliable source are you basing the inclusion on. Thanks, Lourdes 00:32, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of 2018 Albums[edit]

Can you put some December Albums to the List of Albums in 2018. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 18:38, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea which albums are released in December 2018 but I guess you do. If your problem is no December heading at 2018 in American music then you can just add it with the same code as the other months: ===December===. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:27, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bot that reverts certain content additions[edit]

What's the name of the bot that will auto revert certain content additions? There's a page someplace where people can request the addition of certain text strings so that when annoying vandals keep spamming their buddy's name everywhere, the bot will auto-revert them. I used to know but can't remember... EnPassant (talk) 20:38, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think any such bot exists (other than XLinkBot, which reverts based on addition of links, not text). Are you looking for the edit filter (which doesn't revert the edit, but prevents it from being saved at all)? {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 00:17, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
