problem?[edit]

Hello. I think I have identified an individual who has done much harm to articles. This is the user in question - [1] . At the moment I am working on some project of mine, and I noticed that many pages that contain population data have been changed. Census data in the former yugoslavia did not have the category "bosniak". Instead it had the category muslims, which referred to muslims by nationality. I am of the opinion that a person has let their emotions run wild, and that as a result they have changed many articles. I found this accidentally, as I am working on a project. Wikipedia of course is not my main source, but I pop in on it from time to time just for very basic reference stuff. I do not have the time to go around patrolling the pages in vain. The edits in question were all carried out during a single day in November last year. The editor in question has been warned, and hasn't edited since. Other than reverting any edits that have not yet been reverted (I'll check), there seems little point in doing anything more. 00:12, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Where can I go to find help from other users with regards to a music related notability question?[edit]

Problem with Infobox[edit]

Another editor has twice deleted the infobox I added today to this article [2]. The other editor says the infobox is 'broken' [3]. I can't see that it is. Any help with this would be much appreciated. NinaGreen (talk) 05:10, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The "issue" parameter is printing the name of his child, unindented, on the line below the word "issue". I believe this is what the other editor is talking about. Regardless, what you should do, in as polite and friendly a manner as possible, is to ask them directly on their user talk page and wait for a response from them. Nobility is all about family so {{Infobox noble}} orders its fields differently from most other people infoboxes. Maybe the other editor isn't used to this and is confused because family information comes first. The infobox is coded to display issue on a new line, maybe to give room for long title and name combinations on the same line. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:32, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There are a couple problems with the use of the template beyond what's present in Montfort. The spacing before and after "issue" is huge and I can't figure out why that is - it's not part of the template code AFAICT, as it's beyond that of simply having the heir appear on the next line and is much larger than appears on Montfort. Second, it doesn't actually cover what this person is known for - perhaps another template would be more appropriate, or none at all. Nikkimaria (talk) 12:03, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've just now used a brand-new nobility template from the Wikipedia templates page, and the spacing after "issue" appears exactly the same. Perhaps Nikkimaria, who twice deleted the infobox claiming it was 'broken', could take that problem up at the Templates page, as it's not the individual infobox in the article I was working on which is 'broken'. If anything is 'broken', it's the template at the Wikipedia Templates page. The nobility template is appropriate because Thomas Neville was the son of Lord Abergavenny, and his wife was a daughter of Lord Dacre. Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. CSS class for autoconfirmed users[edit]

Cross language Infobox images?[edit]

Excluding Commons, it looks like it is not possible to use images in infoboxes from other Wikipedia languages versions. The language prefix such as :de, :it, etc. will not work Is this by design? If so why? Rixxardo (talk) 08:23, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Which image is it you need to use? If it's in an infobox then it may be copyrighted and used under a Fair Use clause, and so not on the Commons. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 08:32, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
They may be like File:Kelvin bridge by RFT.png where we moved it from the German project to commons. I was amazed it was harder to find an image of one than build one and take a picture of it, which I was tempted to do. For example, an image created in the Italian Wikipedia version won't be usable in the English Wikipedia version. Basically it won't be displayed in the infobox, regardless the advanced syntax. I don't think you could use an image on another language of Wikipedia like that unless you first uploaded it to the Commons. And then if it's under Fair Use, you wouldn't be able to upload to Commons. Can you provide a link to the image in question or is this a general question on reusing images? Yes, only files on Commons or English Wikipedia can be used. The reason is that each project has its own specific standards for non-free use. For example, it:File:AS Roma Logo 2013.svg is acceptable on Italian Wikipedia, but on English Wikipedia its resolution would have to be reduced. —teb728 t c 09:11, 23 May 2013 (UTC) But now that you are autoconfirmed, you can upload it to English Wikipedia and insert it in the semiprotected A.S. Just as you can't use the Italian version on English Wikipedia, you can't use the English version on Italian Wikipedia. The Italian version is File:AS Roma Logo 2013.svg; use that on Italian Wikipedia, and use the English version File:AS Roma logo (2013).svg on English Wikipedia. —teb728 t c 07:24, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Second opinion requested on this edit[edit]

I'm tempted to revert it, but would like a second opinion before I do.

Basically, the revision deleted a paragraph about environmental concerns on a power plant. The edit summary is blank, and it's the only edit ever from that IP address. The IP address appears to be in Utah, from either Delta (10 mi S of the power plant) or Fillmore (20 mi S of Delta). Could be someone with a WP:COI, or just a knowledgeable local.

If you look a few revisions back, I had tried to improve that paragraph, and marked some statements as needing citation, as the referenced article did not substantiate them. I wasn't really a fan of it, but I left them in because they seemed plausible.

If the edit had just been accompanied by a comment like "Just nuke the unsubstantiated statements", I probably would have acceded.

But even though the paragraph is pretty borderline for value, and I'm not sure I want to champion reintroducing it, this set off my "deleting criticism from Wikipedia" radar.

If I decide it should be reverted, I'll go and mention it to the user on their talk page, etc., but I'm currently debating whether to object at all.

Could someone take a look and advise me? (Also feel free to take action yourself if that's easier than telling me to.) Thank you!

After reading the section it appears to be a general criticism tacked onto that power plant. It could do with more citations but i would support restoring it and leaving on the tags you placed for a period of time. Numbered list with images to its left[edit]

I put images on both sides of a numbered list in the Mishneh Torah article, but as a result the hierarchy of the list was lost. Hence, my edits were reverted. Can somebody fix the list while preserving the images? --Jonund (talk) 08:28, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Changes in "talk:Articles for creation/Alicia Gali" are not mainfested[edit]

I've made some changes to the "Publicity" section in the Alicia Gali article proposal.

The changes do not appear in the section, but they appear in the relevant edit page.

Submitting a Current Wikipage for Approval[edit]

As a group assignment, we editied the page called "Salary", we added all the citations and also added more information to the article.

How do we submit this changed page for approval, so that it doesn't say " this page has multiple errors?

What it said was "multiple issues". It specified two, lack of references and lack of global context. Your edits appear to me to have addressed both, so I have removed the tags. Clickable links in image[edit]

Is it possible to add clickable links to an image and if so, how can this be done? Note that those need to be external links. I recall having seen some maps with different clickable areas. How can I make something like that? If you mean adding to an existing section then click the "[edit]" link to the right of the section heading. There is also an "Edit" tab at top of pages to edit the whole page. See more at Help:Editing. Some pages are protected or semiprotected so you cannot edit them. When your account becomes autoconfirmed you can edit semiprotected pages. problem with article Hermannsburg, KwaZulu-Natal..[edit]

The photo in article not accurate depiction of our community..This is a picture from another place, not Hermannsburg in KZN, SA. It might say something about the history, but even the sign board is from another country...Note the money sign is not Rand...

I agree with the poster, the photo is almost certainly from this Hermannsburg - Hermannsburg,_Northern_Territory which is in Austrailia. I have removed the photo from the article. If you would like to upload a suitable photo, or donate material please see WP:PHOTO and WP:DONATE

Maybe other editors will be able to understand your question, but it's not clear to me what you are asking. Is your name included in the text of the article? Were you cited as a reference? I have a guess as to what may be happening. Do the google hits include something like "User:<your name>/" at the start of their title? If so, they are user sandboxes in which the article has been worked on, by an editor whose username is the same as your name (quite legitimate, if they happen to have the same name as you). If that is the case, I suggest that you drop that user a line on their talk page (User talk:<your name>) explaining the problem. If they have released the page into Wikipedia proper, or abandoned it, they can request it be deleted. But if they are still working on it, I'm not sure there's much you can do.

Template Help[edit]

I would like to add more images to this template: Template:Infobox COA wide. Currently it only allows one image on the far right side, however I would like for the code to allow five images, with variable sizes, arranged vertically. However I would prefer it if the parameter begins with " image=" , then " image1 =" , "image size1 =" , " image =2" , "image size2 =" etc, so that articles with this template already included does not have to be changed. Template:Infobox COA wide uses the Template:Navbox. Navbox currently does not support more than one image on the right side. However, it allows one image on both sides of the navbox. Possible faulty move from Sandbox - do I need to do anything?[edit]

Hi, I may have caused confusion today while trying to move a page I created on my sandbox onto mainspace. Got befuddled by the options at move stage. Page is: Chapel of St Helen, Wicken Bonhunt. From Sandbox, I renamed, but clicked the topmost box that said Wikipedia, which created Wikipedia: Chapel of St Helen, Wicken Bonhunt. That looked wrong so I moved it again, so it has a double redirect in its history. Possibly it now looks to reviewers like it was created by someone else in December 2012 or I was trying to do something weird. Is there anything I need to do apart from hang my head in shame? It was deleted May 14 by User:Yunshui as a copyright violation. It is necessary to write original texts on Wikipedia ("in your own words") Rmhermen (talk) 20:00, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Musselburgh Grammar School[edit]

I am the Head Teacher at this school in Scotland. I would like to amend the article on the school but anticipate in doing so that it could be perceived as a conflict of interest.

The issue is on the HMIe section. This section begins with the 1999 Care and Welfare inspection which was not flattering to the school as opposed to the 2006 HMIe report mentioned later, which was far more positive. When people look for information on the school, Wikipedia pops up as the main entry and it is damaging the school's current reputation.

There were very few Care and Welfare inspections done because they did not work and they are no longer used.

I'd like to offer up an alternative wording for this section for someone else to read and agree that it gives a more balanced account of HMIe reports.

Adding a link to a blog ?[edit]

I understand that adding links to external webpages is encouraged when the article is enhanced by the external link. However, blogs are discouraged as external links at the ends of articles unless the blog writer is a "notable" person. I would like to add my blog page to the Wiki article about the Deep Sea Drilling Project. The blog is about my experiences on Deep Sea Drilling Project voyages as a long time employee and participant in that program. Does this connection make me "notable" enough? Also, article about the Deep Sea Drilling Project is erroneously entitled "Deep Sea Drilling Program. Correct name of the project appears in the article. I think it unlikely that such a link would satisfy any of the grounds mentioned in WP:EL. I don't think your summary matches any of the reasons listed in that article; the closest would be "Sites that fail to meet criteria for reliable sources yet still contain information about the subject of the article from knowledgeable sources", but the trouble with a blog is that they usually do not clearly distinguish information from opinion.
As for the title: changing a title requires a move, which I think only logged-in users can do. I would do it, but I see that there is already a redirect page Deep Sea Drilling Project (which redirects to Deep Sea Drilling Program); only an admin can move over a redirect, but now you've brought it up here, an admin will probably notice this and do it for you. --ColinFine (talk) 21:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
