License is valid for images with "critical commentary and discussion". The image in question is not tied to any such commentary and there isn't even a section discussing the music video for the song. License is valid for images with "critical commentary and discussion". The image in question is not tied to any such commentary and there isn't even a section discussing the music video for the song. The image is not effective in identifying "the item that inspired the producer to base a Picture This scene on the poster". (The poster is just the leads photoshopped together). Neither is the image "significant in identifying the poster that inspired the scene involving the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty" as stated in the license. Comment I guess maybe the image's description should be changed a little. During this trial the court has not granted an all-out general exception to the default ban that exists on photo/video/sound recordings inside a Norwegian court room. This was appealed up to the Norwegian Supreme Court, that rejected it. The specific exception the court has allowed is that a certain amount of accredited journalists/photographers are allowed to take still pictures inside the court room, but only for a few minutes after the court is set, and the press itself had to arrange for which photographers should be allowed to take pictures each day. Since I would believe most/all of these photographers work for commercial news agencies I doubt there will be a Commons-free picture available, and I would be sceptical to anyone claiming to have such a picture. That said, it should be fairly easy to get another non-free picture now. On the other hand this picture is a fairly neutral photo, and the only thing preventing it from being on Commons is the non-derivative clause. -Laniala (talk) 14:27, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, nothing prevents anyone from requesting access. It's an open court trial. But I think it will be much harder to get access and press accreditation (this late) and permission to be one of the few photographers that get permission to take photos during the trial and to stand about 10 m away from Breivik to take a photo. Keep and add fair-use rationale. This is Mayan writing (see Maya script). It probably would have been traced from a 3-d stone inscription. There is some creativity involved in transforming the 3-d engraving to a 2-d drawing, but not much. (In addition to this being a form of writing, so presumably there are constraints on creativity in reproducing the glyphs in a readable format.) This was originally adapted from a drawing by David Stuart (Mayanist) according to the source publication. I'd say it is reasonable to have an image depicting a famous subject's name in the form of writing that their society used, so add a rationale to that effect. - Any fair use rationale would obviously be invalid as it is possible to create a free replacement. Ancient 3D stone inscriptions are in the public domain, so all you need to do is to locate the inscription and make a free replacement. The issue here is that fonts normally aren't considered as copyrightable in the United States, so although it looks like an artwork, it might qualify for {{PD-text}} or something similar. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:13, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
