As per WP:NOTCRYSTALBALL, the by-election is not confirmed when and may not even happen, hence the article is created too early. Xaiver0510 (talk) 07:55, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete for nominator's reasons. The Government of Singapore takes the position that it has full discretion as to if, and when, to call by-elections, and it has only said it is carefully considering the matter so it is not at all confirmed that a by-election will be held. Furthermore, the Clerk of Parliament has given the Member of Parliament who was expelled from his political party until Friday, 24 February, to let her know whether he wishes to contest his expulsion. Thus, no decision on whether his Parliamentary seat has been vacated will be made until after 24 February. (Also, the unsourced statement "The PAP still continues to use controlled media to brainwash the masses from voting for alternative parties" is hardly NPOV ... :-) ) — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 09:57, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. The by-elections have not been declared. The content merely links to speculation in the news media. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 10:58, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- This is going to be a saddening discussion to watch, I predict. Not only did the nomination coincide with reports of a development that made it certain that there is going to be a by-election. But the discussion closure is going to coincide with the publication of the news reports covering what happens about this in the Singapore Parliament on the 28th, its next sitting according to the sources cited here. - Not necessarily. The Speaker of Parliament has declared the Parliamentary seat in question vacated, but, as I mentioned previously, this does not necessarily mean a by-election will be called. Unlike in other countries, the Singapore Government asserts that it has broad discretion as to whether or not to call a by-election, and that it is entitled not to call one at all and to leave the seat vacant till the next general election: see, for example, [1] ("Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said there is no fixed time within which he must call a by-election") and [2] ("In 2008, PM Lee told Parliament that the timing of one 'is the prerogative of the PM. He has full discretion and he is not obliged to call a by-election within any fixed timeline'."). — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 20:39, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
