An orchard. Go back far enough and the topos show a spot just to the south on a long abandoned railroad grade (traces of the latter showing up in some aerials) named "Mills". Somewhat later, the orchard shows up on the maps, and there is still a farming/ranching establishment there. But it's plainly not a town, and never has been.
