KCL Netball Club[edit]

From the removed PROD: unremarkable student club. No indication of notability - references are the student union website and Facebook. I have replaced an A7 speedy tag with this prod, as a previous A7 was removed by an editor who thought there was a claim of importance. Eeekster (talk) 17:13, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete (as PRODder). More references have been added since the PROD, but they are links like the Student Union bar, the sports ground where they play, the supplier they buy kit from, and do not actually mention the club, let alone provide the significant, independent comment required to show notability; nor do searches find any. KCL Netball's affiliation with such a prestigious university as King's College London, as a club that plays a significant role in the university's student body, gives the club considerable notability. The club is sponsored by Accenture, the largest consulting firm in the world - the fact that Accenture sponsors the club illustrates the fact that the club has notability, as judged by a significant, independent party. King's College London has just been named University of the Year by The Sunday Times, and receives regular and extensive coverage in the national press. The Netball club is a long-established institution of the university, it plays a large part in the student life of the university, it so it is therefore linked to the student experience that has won King's College London this prestigious accolade of being named "University of the Year". The Netball club has secured a deal for coverage space in each edition of Roar! magazine that is to be published in this academic year. The Netball club is also involved in the Macadam Cup which receives extensive coverage by Roar! magazine. Roar! magazine is completely independent of the Netball Club; it is a significant and independent secondary source. Furthermore, BUCS, a sporting association for all British universities, features articles on the Macadam Cup [1], which KCL Netball takes part in, and covers KCL Netball's success in this competition over their KCLMS counterparts, and credits this competition for raising money for Right To Play (the world's largest sport for development charity). The BUCS website also features articles recording KCL Netball's performances: [2] - this article also records awards received by KCL Netball players. BUCS is an organisation that is significant and entirely independent from KCL Netball. The Netball club is also joining the Varsity competition in 2011 - a competition which receives extensive coverage not only by Roar! magazine but also by the London Student newspaper, a paper whose circulation covers all the colleges included in the University of London and it therefore has an extremely large readership. Just like Roar! magazine, the London Student is a newspaper which is entirely independent of KCL Netball and is therefore a significant and independent source. Many other university sports clubs enjoy the privilege of having Wikipedia articles, for factual and informative purposes, which have not had to face dispute on the grounds of their "notability". KCL Netball Club is notable for the role that it plays in the life of King's College London; for it's current students and for it's alumni students, for the University of London as a whole, and for the role that it plays in British university sporting leagues. Keep the KCL Netball Club article This article should not be deleted as it does not breach Wikipedia's content policies. The article has been edited since the deletion tag was posted and changes have been made, as they were advised to be, to ensure that the article lies in accordance with Wikipedia's guidelines on the required neutrality of articles.

The article has not been created as a promotional piece of writing, it is strictly factual in its content. It provides information solely on the important factual elements of the club, on features which are of public interest; club background, club sporting performance, club social activities, club kit, club sponsorship, and club committee members. The article has not been created with the intention to show favouritism towards any particular sporting team or to display a biased opinion about club performances, it is simply providing factual information about a certain club that is in the public interest as it is part of King's College London's student body. Similar Wikipedia articles exist for other sports teams of King's College London, and for other universities.

This article should not be deleted as it provides important, purely factual, information about a long-standing university student organisation. KCL Netball is part of King's College London, a university that is among the highest ranking universities in Britain, and that ranks especially highly in university world league tables. As such a presitgious university, it's clubs and societies are also of great importance and lie in the public's interest.

KCL Netball club is of a standard of notability that certain qualifies for a Wikipedia article. The club is part of KCLSU, one of England's oldest student union organisations, and it continues to be an extremely successful and popular club, boasting success in many sports leagues and competing with other teams across the country. KCL Netball club is not only one of the most popular sports clubs at KCL university, but its teams also perform to an extremely high standard. The 1st and 4th netball teams this year both topped their ULU Leagues this year, with the 4th team being entirely undefeated throughout the season.

This club is mentioned in various reliable secondary sources, such as on the BUCS website, the KCLSU website, and the ULU website for sporting leagues.

Once again, although this article focuses on KCL Netball Club as its main subject, the article's neutrality should not be called into question. The article has been written as a factual piece about a successful university sports club. It has been written purely for informative purposes. It has not been intended as a piece of promotional writing and it does not display unfair bias in favour or against any particular organisation or person.
