No sources given, really don't see why this man is notable. BelloWello (talk) 01:21, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep As the former president of Walla Walla University, he meets WP:ACADEMIC. The nominator should add readily available references to the article in accordance with WP:BEFORE, rather than nominating this article for deletion. Cullen328 (talk) 02:37, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- The only relevant point from the guideline (which I had never seen before...) I can find is #6, "The person has held a major highest-level elected or appointed academic post at a major academic institution or major academic society," I didn't realize Walla Walla University as a "major academic institution," not saying its not.. I just wouldn't have called it one... I'll withdraw nomination if you can show it to be or point out exactly what point he's notable under. BelloWello (talk) 02:47, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Since the university was founded in 1892, and currently has 1,900 students, I think it qualifies. Other editors may disagree, but I am not comfortable deleting articles about current or former university presidents, as long as the institutions are well-established and credible. - Keep. I certainly understand the skepticism leading to this AfD, but there is now some level of precedent, established mainly by what might be called the "rosh yeshiva" argument (see e.g. recent cases here and here) that even small religious colleges are "major academic institutions". If so, then Walla Walla certainly qualifies, meaning Dybdahl would be notable as its one-time president. I have argued against this position in the past and still do not agree with it, but am certainly willing to abide by what seems to be an emerging consensus. - Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.

- Keep per Cullen328. And some evidence at GBooks to suggest that he is notable at least within the SDA world. --Arxiloxos (talk) 15:35, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
