Suspected sockpuppets

All of these accounts have been blocks as ducks of the first account. I did not make the initial connection between WikipediaN6860o and Enteng686o0, as Bbb23 made the sockmaster block and block of the first sockpuppet. I made all of the subsequent connections. The connection is the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity and their repeated attempts to create an article about some criminal offshoot of the fraternity. The accounts have attempted to create the same article at: Oxo gang, Akrho Union, Oxo Gang, Akrho Union, Oxo Super Gang, Batang Oxo, and a few others. They have been trying to add this gang affiliation into the biography of Jimmy Santos (actor).

The autoblock is obviously not working so I am asking a CU to look into a range block to stop the repeated account creation. While I suspect from the related IPsthat a range block may not be feasible, I am asking a CU to look just in case.

One thing of note is that one of the named accounts attempted to impersonate Flat Out. After asking Flat Out about why they were targeted, Flat Out guessed that this might be related to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MarianoRivero/Archive.

Pinging @C.Fred and @Naraht as they have both run into these socks and may wish to provide additional details. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Opened per the Duck Test, based on editing behavior and similarity of User names. Sock was indefinitely blocked as a vandalism-only account a bit less than 48 hours ago, after trying several times to add material about UFO abduction to the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 article ([1], [2], [3], [4], [5] and [6]), mostly by re-saving his last edit, effectively undoing all other edits made in the intervening time. The Master had earlier tried to add the same material to the MH370 article ([7] and [8]), and again after the Sock was blocked ([9] and [10]), again in a way that undid intervening edits. The Sock posted an image on my and another User's talk pages after we had removed the UFO material ([11] and [12]). The only other usage of the image on the English WP is the Master's User and Talk pages. YSSYguy (talk) 14:33, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Similar modus operandi of creating elaborate hoax pages referring to a purported criminal syndicate in the Philippines. As per an IP's rationale, the gang does NOT exist per se, and "sindikato" or any misspellings of the page, refer to Philippine organised crime in general, and not a monolithic group as he tries to imply. Has a really striking resemblance to the sockmaster per WP:DUCK. The first article created by this user is this one, a shortened version of the original Sindikatu article deleted via AFD a week ago. After one user nominated this article for CSD, another "new" user deleted the CSD template saying that it has "sources" on them. After a few hours, Sallyizod appeared and removed all of the CSD templates on all of Earlscow's created articles and "threatened" me that he will report me to an admin due to "vandalism". This behavior is a trademark of Malusia22 and his socks. - WayKurat (talk) 01:54, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@DQ, DoRD: It seems that Malusia22's tactic is he creates new accounts then he only uses them when the discovered socks were blocked. As seen below, he created four new accounts with no edits on them. Is it possible to block his IP address too to prevent him in creating new sock accounts? Thanks. -WayKurat (talk) 15:50, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm closing this with no action taken. The large edit by the user was a copyright violation, which isn't really Malusia22's style. The username "Pinoylocos" pretty much means "crazy Filipino guy", so it's understandable why the use would have an interest in the subject. All of this coupled with the CU results suggests it's someone else. Mike VTalk 02:01, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The sockmaster has created an article for Typhoon Maysak simply by copying information from the 2015 typhoon season article (which is not the standard procedure), as seen here.
