Wide exhibition of a work of art does not automatically imply that it is the artist's most important work. It may just be the artist's (or the artwork's owner's) favorite work and therefore the one that was promoted to the most exhibitions. Any claim that a work is the artist's most important is an opinion, and at Wikipedia, we can report opinions, but we have to attribute them, rather than stating them in Wikipedia's own voice. Hi dan you recently declined the creation of a page I was creating. I saw a couple of the historic leagues already had wikipages such as the cosmopolitan league and I wanted to document some of the history of other leagues. I used the other pages to kind of guide me and found mostly newspaper and magazine references similar to the references I saw on the other pages what can I do to enhance the page so that it is approved. All of the references on Draft:Kharkiv Humanitarian Pegagogical Academy are links to pages published by the academy itself. Wikipedia does not consider these to be reliable sources. Wikipedia cares less about what an organization says about itself and more about what others have said about the organization. So, we'll need references from sources other than the academy itself. They can be used to verify facts in an article, but if there are no other sources that indicate notability, the draft is generally not published. He appears to be the COO of a relatively minor banking corporation. All of your sources are basically primary sources (press releases, corporate announcements, etc.). @DahSound: Neither First Foundation Bank nor First City Bank appear to be notable banks, so Naghibi's role as their COO does not make him notable. If articles about either of those banks eventually get created, they can mention Naghibi as part of their history, but that does not require that a Wikipedia article exist prior to him being mentioned. My name is Nick Dymott and I am the webmaster and magazine editor for the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust. I am reaching out to you in relation to the work done by yourself on the Wikipedia page on the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal.

In late 2021 I attempted to make some amendments to the page, but these were not properly supported with citations/references, and the changes I made were understandably undone by yourself shortly thereafter.

I wish to make a further attempt at updating the article, particularly in relation to the Restoration of the Canal, and to correct a couple of inaccuracies elsewhere in the article.

In doing so I will attempt to fully support new material with appropriate citations and references, but I am new to Wikipedia and may therefore not get everything lined up correctly at first.

The purpose of this communication is to let you know of my intentions, and to ask that you bear with me, and if at all possible offer guidance on correcting any poor Wikipedia practices I use.

I am reaching out to user Bob1960evens in a similar way to this, as he has contributed much to the article..

Draft article Town of Paw Paw Old Mayor’s Office and Jail[edit]

I've found myself running in circles attempting to address each reviewer's comments that often times are not in agreement.

I've "cleaned up" the draft (basically to what I originally wrote) and in doing so took out the "extra historic". If the NHRP status is sufficient what more is required than referencing the nomination? So many buildings on the national register have only been written about via the nomination, and in doing so most independent reliable published sources (newspaper articles, meeting minutes, etc) have been used leaving nothing left to reference for an article on Wikipedia...

I'm a novice so I hope this reply finds you in the manner in which you prefer

This source is a local interest website, but I can confirm the reliability of that site. Finally, this link is just the NHRP search form, and in searching their database for sites in Morgan County, WV, I don't find a listing for any place in Paw Paw. Regarding the merits of inclusion at Wikipeida for LTJG David M. Christian[edit]

Hi WikiDan61, just want to address your comments to see if there was any room for consideration? Christian was on a nationally televised Memorial Day tribute on TNT in May of 1995. His mission was considered significant enough for the USS Midway to keep on their Mission Board -- permanently. The researchers on the USS Midway are currently expanding their information on his story. And this January 2024 his records are currently under a requested Congressional Inquiry by a US Senator, which is currently being covered today on MSN.com and Yahoo News right now. (see: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/i-hope-he-was-not-a-pow-but-vietnam-vet-s-midstate-cousin-finds-evidence-he-survived-being-shot-down/ar-BB1hP3k6) Also the strange nature of his disappearance and mention in the PRAVDA article (which was likely because he had well documented SIOP/ALOFT nuclear weapons training) and the over 30 year long search by the CIA for answers to his disappearance which is well documented on the Library of Congress's archives. Further, he was within the first two dozen pilots to be shot down during the beginnings of the war. Finally he leads of Chapter 8 of Scott McGaugh's hard bound book: Midway Magic: An Oral History of America's Legendary Aircraft Carrier (ISBN 9781593150273). I sited many other references other than the Skyhawk association. I included: books, national TV coverage, current news coverage, as well as records from the Library of Congress and the National Archives. Also he was recently covered in a video game simulation on YouTube and received over 15,000 views inside of 2 weeks. So, I don't think the sources should be in question. So please reconsider. I looked it up, according to the USS Midway, the receive between 1 to 5 million visitors each year. According to the USS Midway Museum, the attracts over 5,000,000 visitors annually for its impressive collection of aircraft, storied military past and fun-filled family activities.^[1] Since they have chosen to keep LTJG David Christian's mission up perminately in their Primary Flight Control Center, I think this should be a consideration of how many people are being exposed to his name and will want access to his story. So to say he does not have historical significance is not accurate. WiKi may be their first stop in finding out about him. Please reconsider. Fair comments, regarding recognition - I have noticed there is a lot of conflicting information out there.

Even on Wikipedia itself (i.e. Friends of the Peak District v Peak District Boundary Walk) or on the local branch CPRE (PDSY) website itself (Our History v Peak District Boundary Walk). Even articles on the national CPRE site disagrees with local branch statements. Confusing.

I'll reach out and find out precisely what he contributed and is responsible for individually (as well as more on his army background). Once I know I will clean up / report those internal and external sources. Already have other independent sources but thought the most impactful stuff would be from the charities - will remove some of them.

I'll also enquire about what his CBE award and why it was so significant and yet his wife was only awarded a MBE for her work (maybe a sign of the times, who knows).

Incidentally, this source was cited in my original draft I noticed (almost full circle again).

So here's my dilemma, if the same website has two competing and conflicting messages which one do you believe? Which one, as noted in your rejection reason, would you rely on?

I want to mention again that David Christian's mission is permanently on the Launch Status board at the USS Midway in their flight control center. You can verify this fact by contacting the research department at the USS Midway or contacting researcher: Laurent Reinhardt or Philip Eakin. They will verify the significance of his contribution to the USS Midway's history. 10,000 if not 100,000 of people will see his name on the mission board and want to know what his story is. Also MSN (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/i-hope-he-was-not-a-pow-but-vietnam-vet-s-midstate-cousin-finds-evidence-he-survived-being-shot-down/ar-BB1hP3k6#) and Yahoo News just ran a story on David Christian this week as well as ABC27 Harrisburg. Finally, he must be important enough if US Senator John Fetterman just launched a Congressional Inquiry into his records. How much more history do you need. People want to know about this story. And yes, their is conflicting information on his status and disappearance that is one of the reasons he is in the news. His records need to be looked at again and updated. Finally, his case number 0092-1-01 is full of documentation on the Library of Congress website. Also, when his remains were returned to the US, he was mentioned on national TV and was spoken about by President Ronald Regan. I don't have a source to back it up, but that was mentioned by his family. Additionally, there was a know USSR bounty put on pilots with certain technical training - the VA-23's squad book on page 107 says they had "nuclear weapons delivery capabilities" - and the CIA documents on the Library of Congress site show they kept looking for him for seven years past the time he was repatriated. I can give you direct link to those documents. His MIA case is one of the most complicated ones you will find. Also, in mid 90's Boris Yeltson told President Bush they had about a dozen of our pilots from Vietnam and handed over data on them. Article: By Daily Press | PUBLISHED: June 17, 1992. Article: Russia hands over data on five Americans captured in Vietnam to the US. Article: Some Vietnam POWs May Be Alive in Russia. David could have been one of them. So this is a very significant historical figure we are talking about. He flew about 60 missions before he disappeared. Additionally a DCS video gamer just ran a simulation of his mission on YouTube and referecned his whole account by name. This video recieved 15,000+ views in only 3 weeks time. Also, there is a probability of interest in this story by media now that it's out there for more to come. I can reply and provide more documentaion and write a better piece, but I struggle because I am not a professional writer, but please do not reject his story. True, but this is true of many MIA soldiers and sailors as their loved ones reach out to media to keep their memories alive. I don't consider this significant coverage (but I get that others may disagree, which is why I reached out to the WikiProject that would have expertise for this field).
He might have been captured by the Russians.
That appears to be supposition not backed by reliable sources.
His mission was the subject of a YouTube video.
This is not a reliable source for anything.

If the story was verbatim from the write ups that the USS Midway Museum is working on right now, as well as the Library of Congress and the NAVY's MIA board site, and the facts taken directly from his investigation listed on the Library of Congress site, and a statement from the Midway detailing their reasons for including his mission on the Pri Fly board be more persuasive? @VE23BlackKnights: If there is a page on the USS Midway Museum site that mentions Christian and the reason that his particular mission is the one listed on their board, that would be helpful. The fact that the LoC and the Navy's MIA board have information about this investigation is not especially notable: they store information about every such investigation. Nothing you've indicated so far shows me that Christian was not just another of the thousands of POW MIA soldiers and sailors from the Vietnam War. His case is well-documented, but does not (to me) appear notable. I don't think your going to change my mind, so I suggest rather that you seek help from WP:WikiProject Military history. Just to clarify. His family had been interviewed by many news outlets, and made many comments. My references are based on those interviews, and that I have been directly in touch with the officer in charge of his rescue mission, who knew him and relayed personal information that regarded his family, mother and other information about what the family that they have been told, believed and been through. Just wanted to clarify that. But, as I'm learning... Wikipeida requires better sources than hear say. I am learning a lot. I'm starting to understand, and respect those requirements. I'm only responding to clarify. Also to let you know that I'm going to abandon my attempt to add him to Wikipedia. After reviewing your comments, I see his contribution just is not significant enough to warrant it. If you are actively updating the article, then you should place the {{in use}} template on the article. If, on the other hand, you are planning to leave the article in its current state while you go spend a few days (or weeks) to find sources to support the information, it would be better to revert to the prior version. You can develop your version in your own user space (for example, at User:Krlndj/Barbara Nanning). Material in your userspace does not need to meet verification requirements, so you can spend as much time as possible developing your sources. I understand the difficulty of that. But to be accurate, Nanning only was co-writer for the book from 2003. The book from 2019 was written by glass expert Titus Eliens, and the book from 1993 by Crommelin and Donker-Duyvis (Barbara Nanning is part of the title there). @REF17: I disagree with your assessment. It seems to me that the coverage of Robbins is the fairly typical local coverage that one might expect of any candidate for office and political activist. @Jennyjiyeonkim: It still appears that most of the sources are either mentions-in-passing, or first person accounts (interviews with Loconomics' founders or their own writings). Even the article about the demise of the organization is written as an interview with the founder. Unless more significant independent coverage can be found, I can't see how this would qualify as a published Wikipedia article. The Ours to Hack and Own piece fits this mold: written by Loconomics themselves. And the New York Times piece is paywalled, so I can't evaluate it. New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024[edit]

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

@Vanechka32: As I noted in my edit summary, I felt that the exhaustive list of published volumes was excessive. Wikipedia's purpose is not to act as this journal's website or repository. The citations that got deleted along with the list merely verified the existence of the volumes, they did not provide in-depth independent coverage of the journal itself, therefore they did not answer the notability concern expressed in the maintenance banner. That said and agreed, these are stable links to fully open-access resources (the PDF file directly, for example) and are not under those which should be avoided. I understand that the policy allows for such links to be added in footnotes, but I wanted to confirm with an experienced editor before doing so. Thank you. What follows is my opinion, not a statement of Wikipedia policy. You have listed a number of books published by TOAEP, and have provided a link to their website. I believe that is sufficient for any interested reader to access the material published by TOAEP. Linking to the individual publications as part of a citation for that publication would be excessive and unnecessary. Such excessive linking is often used as a search engine optimization strategy, as search engines give higher priority to sites that have more in-links, but that does not work with Wikipedia since Wikipedia expressly codes their pages to cause search engines not to count links as in-links to other sites. I'm not claiming that you are engaged in an SEO strategy, but excessive linking can be seen as an attempt at that and will be reverted anyway. Nominations for our mid-year Election of Coordinators will open on 1 June (UTC).

Drive: 46 editors signed up for our January Backlog Elimination Drive, 32 of whom claimed at least one copy-edit. Between them, they copy-edited 289 articles totaling 626,729 words. Barnstars awarded are here.

Christianity in Iraq[edit]

Hello Dan! I saw the warring on the Christianity in Iraq page and came here to thank you with your patience in the talk section. I’ve currently edited the page to include a disputed neutrality template to create a middle ground until the consensus is achieved. Whilst I see the section as definitely biased with Aboona having a perspective which promotes Assyrian continuity theory, I don’t believe merely finger pointing is good for wikipedia (naturally!). Thus for now I will try to conduct my research whilst not straying too far from my university assignments.

Jeff Schiefelbein[edit]

Hi @WikiDan61, I am the author of the Jeff Schiefelbein page you reviewed. The error stated Schiefelbein does not have adequate coverage to allow for an article on Wikipedia. Please be specific in your requirements. The Schiefelbein article meets and exceeds most articles on Wikipedia for biographies of living people. I have personally heard Schiefelbein speak and he is certainly deserving of some recognition on this platform as he has a well rounded platform in various subject matters and areas. @Patrickdelagarza: I disagree with your assessment that Schiefelbein has received adequate coverage. The citations you have provided indicate that he started a program at Texas A&M, for which he received some recognition from the state governor. Laudable, but not notable. The remainder of the article is sourced to various websites of entities directly related to Schiefelbein, so they cannot be considered independent coverage (and are often little less than a notice that he serves on this or that board).
