Омар Али only became active after a previous sock, Ahmadqatari, was blocked and is now recreating drafts about the same subjects with their names being alternative spellings. Draft:Fkhrettin Altun is about Fahrettin Altun/Fakhreddin Altun; Draft:Yusuf Katipoglu is recreated in the same previously deleted draftspace; and the thrice-deleted Fahrettin Koca was recreated by this editor at Draft:Fkhrettin Koca. While this is a clear instance of WP:DUCK I am still requesting a CheckUser in case there are any other socks out there. GPL93 (talk) 14:47, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Both drafts were created by عمر_بن_أبي_ربيعة.   • Drmies, that block is fine. If they keep persisting with more socks then you could hard block it. It is already heavy enough with socking so you could do that. There is someone socking at tr.wiki who looks to be the sockmaster. I've asked someone to look at this in both places in case there is something that we are missing. This is odd, or, hopefully exactly the kind of friendliness one would expect from an admin to a "new user:" Long-time editor Abbas dhothar created a similar page on Western Punjabi Wikipedia where he is an admin and an interface editor, pnb:علی محمود سليمان. He edited en-wiki sporadically from 2009 until his block in 2017. Yauvuz A Alemdar created the article Ali Mahmoud Al Suleiman (Translator), which was created by socks of علي أبو عمر under various titles (see the archives). It was then tagged for G4, with the two brand-new accounts Niyazi Birinci and Ameer Alemdar attempting to remove the G4 tag within 5 minutes of each other (Ameer Alemdar within a minute of being created). The article Ali Al Suleiman (Journalist) has been created today. It is a recreation of this article that was speedily deleted in August last year with indications of sock puppetry.

On 6 May this year I was contacted by an editor whose articles I’d reviewed, called User:Aliaboomar. When I looked on his user page I realised that he was the Ali Mahmoud Al Suleiman who had been the subject of the article deleted. I warned him to remove promotional links from his user page here.

The article Ali Al Suleiman (Journalist) has been created today by a new account, and if you look at all the refs in the article you will see that they’re the same as the links on this old version of Aliaboomar’s talk page. He removed them on 7 May after I warned him.

Based on this I believe the article Ali Al Suleiman (Journalist) is an autobiography and that its creator, User:Turkey1453turkey is a sockpuppet of User:Aliaboomar. Mccapra (talk) 17:46, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How on earth did Ali Al Suleiman (journalist) get created in the first place? It looks like it was created by a long-term editor, which boggles my mind; I can't imagine how anyone would think the subject deserves an article without being asked to create it. @Ohnoitsjamie A couple of oddities here. One is that the un-disambiguated title Ali Al Suleiman was deleted and salted in 2019. The other is that User:Silver seren discusses their reasons at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ali Al Suleiman (journalist). I don't think Silverseren is a sock, they go too far back. Asked to create the article? Maybe. Frankly it's hard to imagine how an uninvolved editor would decide that person needed an article in Wikipedia. In any case, my question/comment is more about the general nuisance of this individual. I see this editor has been blocked before the SPI crew had a chance take action on this filing. Typically that results in closing the case without further action but I'd like to appeal for confirmation that this is the same editor, just to keep a paper trail on his reappearances and so this account can be blocked as a sockpuppet/checkuser block. At this point, he is reaching out to other editors to write an article about him because the pages are protected and I expect this behavior to continue. @علاء: Honestly, yes. His main intention, by routine, is to create a certain article on a subject that he believes is deserving of an article (while consensus is against it). No vandalism, no disruption, is intended IMO, just adding to the encyclopedia. Right or not, the intention seems good. And the same to "has no idea"; I said he continues to 'brute force' about Wikipedia, by which I mean 'does what he wants regardless of everyone else'. Maybe he's never bothered to read policy, but if that has been his approach from the very start, and ignoring other users is part of it, then warnings from other users aren't going to help. There's no doubt he's highly disruptive, but more by accident and/or ignorance than intention IMO. Until now, I hadn't seen any attacking, but knowing it discourages me from the thought that eventually he could have become a reformed valuable user.       • RoySmith, I'll tell you what I did--I checked both accounts and followed all the individual IPs, and from one set of IPs I followed a range (the /16 range I mention above as really too big to block) that I checked also. There were two or three more possible ranges one could compile from those data, but I chose the most obvious one. So in theory there's more that could be done, but in reality, I think we're done. This user contacted me via email (i.e. off-Wiki) to request an article be created for Ali Al Suleiman, and later on-wiki (diff) to have Draft:Ortadoguhaberler.com resurrected. The former was created by User:علي أبو عمر, the sockmaster, and the latter by User:The Qatari Wikipedian, a confirmed sock account. The timescale of this tallies perfectly with the archived SPI, as does the MO of this user – Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ali_Al_Suleiman_(journalist) has multiple comments referring to canvassing emails directly to editors. We received a complain on arwiki before few days that this LTA (Ali Al Suleiman) is now engaged in a lot of paid edits, most of them violate Wikipedia's policies, and I found this obvious from this 4 socks edits. When they complained about their edits not going through, I checked their filter log and there were attempts to create Draft:Ali Mahmoud Al Suleiman (journalist) and Draft:Ali Al Suleiman (translator) and tried to create another draft on their sandbox about Ali Al Suleiman.   • By way of explanation, the notice indicating that a spi case has been moved appears when the username parameter in the SPI archive notice template doesn't match the page title.
