Delete. No reliable sources found for this nickname (a pun on "genitalia"). Google search turns up various performers, no obvious primary topic. Sangdeboeuf (talk) 22:48, 16 February 2022 (UTC) Striking "delete" !vote. 19:59, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, no reliable sources, all seem to be WP:CIRCULAR, IMDb and unreliable tabloids. There's one source that says the stage name is for an actress named Alana, so it's plausible, but doesn't have a last name. Maybe the editor who created the redirect has a source? Bonoahx (talk) 23:43, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have since found the nickname confirmed in this article in GQ, whose author apparently interviewed Evans. It's just a passing mention, though. --Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:39, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Abstain as redirect creator. When I added this redirect back in December 2009, the page Alana Evans looked like this, with an uncited claim that she had used the name "Jenna Talia" in two films but hated it so much she switched back to Alana Evans. I'm not the one who added that claim, I merely created a redirect on the basis of it. I don't care if the redirect is deleted or not. Moldavian Republic[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Moldova (disambiguation). (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 23:22, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Moldova. That is what most of the people expected to see when they type 'Moldavian Republic'. Moldavian Democratic Republic can be accessed via Moldova (disambiguation) in hatnote. Thesmp (talk) 21:01, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Support deletion as creator of the redirect. I don't know why did I not think about the existance of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic when I made it, which makes the redirect ambiguous. Also, we need to make the distinction between the historical demonym "Moldavian" and the commonly used one nowadays "Moldovan". An alternate name for the Republic of Moldova is not Republic of Moldavia. Super Ψ Dro 21:15, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's then ambiguous too. A better target for both (instead of deletion for any of the two) could be Moldova (disambiguation). The page is also a disambiguation for Moldavia. Super Ψ Dro 21:45, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:GROCER[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. As a redirect pointing incorrectly to a manual section that talks about apostrophes in acronyms. Jay (talk) 03:40, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not clear why GROCER is a good shortcut for the target. If deleted, the shortcut link added at the target should be removed as well. signed, Rosguill talk 19:05, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep (as creator) - the shortcut refers to a common name for this use of punctuation, "grocer's apostrophe". Ibadibam (talk) 19:13, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Seems obvious enough to me. Grocer's (grocers'?) apostrophes are well known and the section tells us not to use them (although not by name). pburka (talk) 19:18, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – a most useful shortcut in edit summaries when such mistakes are corrected in articles. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:52, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Greengrocer’s apostrophe refers to unambiguously incorrect formulations like "2 banana's for $20". The use of apostrophes in plurals of acronyms has a different and more nuanced history. The target section of the MOS links to Apostrophe § Abbreviations by way of explanation, not Apostrophe § Superfluous apostrophes ("greengrocers' apostrophes"). The use of this shortcut for the target advice is likely to cause more confusion than clarity.--Trystan (talk) 13:32, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It's a non-sequiter that's certainly a puzzler to some people reading Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Plural forms and seeing it as an incoming link, since per Trystan above it's a mistaken reference to the greengrocer’s apostrophe, where people get confused between plural s and possessive s, and which is an entirely different thing than deciding whether to use apostrophes for acronyms.
The so-called greengrocers apostrophe ("apostrophe's" etc as a plural) is simply a basic grammatical error and needs no rule and no redirect, anymore than other simple errors such as "sheeps" or "thruway" or "got arrested" etc. need rules and redirects. You just correct them.
The redirect is also vaguely insulting by the way. I still do a little mental stutter-step when writing "its" vs "it's". Sometimes I might get it wrong. I would be proud to be thereby mistaken for a grocer (an honorable and necessary profession), but actual grocers might not take so well to being used as a metaphor for illiteracy. Herostratus (talk) 13:49, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. That specific portion of the MOS refers to plurals of abbreviations, which are not greengrocers' apostrophes. Per Trystan above, apostrophes in plurals of abbreviations differ from apostrophes in plurals of typical nouns. eviolite (talk) 17:48, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete It appears that this creation was based on a misunderstanding on what a grocer's apostrophe actually is. ValarianB (talk) 18:00, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment since there is disagreement as to whether "grocer's apostrophe" is semantically correct here, can we get consensus to move this shortcut? Maybe MOS:ACROPLURAL or MOS:PLURALACRO? Ibadibam (talk) 19:33, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • No, see WP:MOVEREDIRECT. However, if you think those shortcuts would be helpful, you are welcome to create them. -- Tavix (talk) 19:58, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Two of those references are the exact same article. All of them are more than ten years old. None of them demonstrate that it is a non-neutral "slang". Kire1975 (talk) 15:37, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Wikipedia is not the place to attack other places, not a valid search term. I will note that searching "Garbage State" on Google actually lists Garbage Patch State as the top search result, so NJ is not clearly the main target for this redirect. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:16, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment a sourced mention could be added at list of U.S. state and territory nicknames. On the other hand, it has also been used as a pejorative for Malaysia's Penang state (mentioned e.g. at history of Penang), and I'm not sure it would be worth a disambiguation. On the third hand, a nickname which has been discussed in reliable sources is certainly a valid search term, and writing about such a nickname in a neutral fashion in Wikipedia is not an "attack". 61.239.39.90 (talk) 14:19, 17 February 2022 (UTC)][reply]

The result of the discussion was restored article without prejudice to AfD. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 23:24, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No incoming links; very few page-views (~1 monthly lifetime); arguably violates R3 WP:RNEUTRAL. It was an unsourced article that was WP:BLARed in 2009. TartarTorte 17:50, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore article and send to AfD. In spite of the blank and redirect edit summary, if it has no sources (and no mention elsewhere on WP, especially at the page considered for targeting the redirect), it should go to AfD or have been PRODed. WP:BLAR is not a good alternative to deletion when it results in a redirect without mention. Mdewman6 (talk) 19:07, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore and send to AfD per Mdewman6. R3 requires redirects to be recently created, and speedy deletion requires all revisions of the article to meet one or more criteria. As a former article created over a decade ago this is about as far away from meeting R3 as it's possible for a redirect to be. Thryduulf (talk) 23:07, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I had a total brain fart when writing the RfD and used R3 to refer to rule three for why to delete a redirect and not WP:R3 which is what R3 always refers to. Fixed now. Sorry about that, I agree very much not eligible for that. TartarTorte 14:12, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is a shortcut to Twitter as a perennial source but i found that this redirect seems to be implausible. Vitaium (talk) 13:15, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • As the creator, I would keep the redirect because Elon tweets have been discussed multiple times, to the point that it can have its own entry at the perennial source. It is also convenient and cheap to have it here, as no harm would be done really. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 15:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Using a person's name as a kind of shorthand to point to a passage regarding wrongdoing seems to be not in the spirit of good WP:BLP practice. Surely we as editors can be better than this. ValarianB (talk) 15:27, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – in addition to User:ValarianB's point, I see no reason why this redirect is more appropriate for Elon Musk than for the many other notable people who have Twitter accounts. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 16:33, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Elon Musk does an order of magnitude more announcing potentially notable things for the first time on Twitter than almost every other notable person on Twitter, especially in the business sphere, so there is a lot more justification for attaching his name to this target than almost any other person's name. That doesn't mean it's necessarily a good redirect, but it does mean that if the consensus is to delete this then there is absolutely no justification for anybody else's name to be used as a shortcut here. Mainly per WP:RDELETE reason #10, Juhn is an artist with 13 certifications and many chartings, so the redirect can plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject. Muhandes (talk) 10:45, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But it seems an odd way to search for it (maybe it's common in India to abbreviate Aerodrome to Aero?), I'm indifferent between deleting or re-targeting to Sulur Air Force Station. • Delete, search results (1 2) indicate an aero defence park different from the air force station. Jay (talk) 16:36, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
