Welcome![edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page State, have removed content without a good reason to do so. Content on Wikipedia should not be removed just because you disagree with it or because you think it's wrong, unless the claim is not verifiable. Instead, you should consider expanding the article with noteworthy and verifiable information of your own, citing reliable sources when you do so. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Process[edit]

I noticed you've requested a redirect retargeting at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2022_February_16#St_Andrew's_flag, but however you've already gone ahead and altered the redirect. This is out of process, you should not alter the redirect until the discussion has concluded and a decision made. Additionally you are WP:edit warring at that redirect, if someone objects to your edit you discuss it, you do not reimplement your edit, per WP:BRD (in addition to it being out of process.) Please revert the redirect back to where it was pending the outcome of the discussion. Canterbury Tail talk 13:30, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Actually apologies you are quite right and I am quite wrong, I misinterpreted the logs. Canterbury Tail talk 13:36, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why are you pinging me in edit summaries that are quite clearly valid edits to remove things that fail the About template criteria? Canterbury Tail talk 13:44, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought that many people confuse Ulster with Northern Ireland and therefore added hatnotes. But apparently you are sure that not so many people could do this mistake. Thus I made those edits. --Thesmp (talk) 13:46, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but why are you pinging me in the edit summary is what I'm asking? The note is valid, as is the removal. Canterbury Tail talk 13:48, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I will not do this anymore. --Thesmp (talk) 13:49, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 13:52, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merger[edit]

Hello! I noticed you merged Constituent state into Administrative division, however I took a look at the merge discussion and I didn't see any clear support for the merge other than the initial proposal. How did you determine the consensus was merge? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:36, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, User:Blaze Wolf! The only vote 'Oppose' was later withdrawn. Alternative proposal to rename to constituent country met with reasoned objection. I see a clear consensus for a merger. Of course, if you have good arguments against the merger, the discussion can be reopened. --Thesmp (talk) 17:01, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really have an argument against the merger. Your merge just happened to appear in my recent changes feed and I didn't see any clear consensus because I only saw one clear !vote (the oppose that is bolded) so I thought you had immediately assumed that since it was an IP their !vote was invalid. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:11, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
no, any votes are valid. But the same IP two days later agreed with Reywas92. --Thesmp (talk) 17:13, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright sounds good. Thanks for clarifying. I just hadn't seen anyone else with a bolded !vote so I assumed the other !votes were just comments. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:20, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
