Joe Biden (Amtrak station)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. This redirect is mentioned in the article, as "Joe" is a shorter form of "Joseph". (non-admin closure) Seventyfiveyears (talk) 12:54, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirect. Nobody is going to simply search for "Joe Biden" and expect to arrive at the train station. The station is called the Joe Biden Railroad Station, not simply "Joe Biden".  — Tartan357  (Talk) 20:55, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: I don't see why there's anything wrong here. The claim of implausiblity seems specious. One would expect this railroad station to show up at, for example, Joe Biden (disambiguation). pbp 21:29, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Again, the redirect you created is implausible because "Joe Biden" alone cannot refer to a train station. That makes no sense. Having "Joe Biden (Amtrak station)" as a title suggests that "Joe Biden" is an Amtrak station, which is ridiculous. Also, it's not specious. Please refrain from casting WP:ASPERSIONS. — Tartan357  (Talk) 23:26, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would be fine with moving the redirect to a more appropriate name, such as "Joe Biden Railroad Station". — Tartan357  (Talk) 23:36, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:MOVEREDIRECT, redirects should not be moved unless the edit history requires it. If you think Joe Biden Railroad Station would be a cromulent redirect, then feel free to create it. -- Tavix (talk) 01:13, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tartan, you're approaching redirects as you would article titles. A redirect with parenthesis is as valid as a redirect without one. pbp 23:09, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. The target article does not contain a list, and List of diver certification organizations is not an appropriate target. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 13:52, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If List of NFL champions (1920–1969) is the primary topic, why does it need a disambiguation in brackets? Either the article should be moved to this name or the redirect is better replaced by a disambiguation page. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 13:24, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. There is no mention of the genre "piano house" at all on the Deep house article, so it should not be re-directed here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 10:37, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - Letterman once carried out a campaign to have the Interstate 465 beltway around Indianapolis to be renamed the David Letterman Bypass, which also referenced his heart condition, in the exact same fashion as Stephen Colbert did for the Stephen Colbert Bridge in Budapest Hungry.Sturmovik (talk) 11:21, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to List of nicknames of presidents of the United States#Franklin D. Roosevelt. signed, Rosguill talk 17:21, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

There is a reliable source that assigns this expression to FDR, but it is cited at List of nicknames of presidents of the United States#Franklin D. Roosevelt and not at Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is confusing to redirect to an article without a mention of the expression (and such confusion led to the previous RfD). Should this redirect target the list, or the FDR article? Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:25, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to List of nicknames of presidents of the United States#Franklin D. Roosevelt per nom. Keeping is not an option given there is no mention of this nickname at the current target, leaving readers without any idea of what this actually refers to. CycloneYoris talk! 07:51, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget/Delete. The first one, in title case, should be retargeted as above, because it is the title of a 1944 book about Roosevelt. The second one, in sentence case, should be deleted, since the sentence case phrase is generic and could refer to any of the 43 men who were President after the White House was constructed.
