Right to exclude[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Right to property. -- Tavix (talk) 19:29, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the target article, so the reader seeking the definition of the term is left none the wiser. I'm not a legal scholar but this strikes me as a concept that could plausibly be notable in its own right, so WP:RDEL #10 would apply. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 23:13, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirect to property, which explains that owners of property have the right to "exclude others" from doing certain things to that property. The property law article definitely needs some work, and it could also be a plausible target, but I think property is better for now. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 20:42, 23 January 2018 (UTC) Update: I have struck my earlier vote because I think CoffeeWithMarkets's suggestion is better. I agree that this should target right to property. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 20:22, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect but to 'Right to property' given that the legal framework of 'ability to exclude' has been viewed as an inherent part of property rights by many reliable sources (see here) CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 01:04, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2018 government shitdown[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 04:51, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is really just an "implausible typo/misnomer". This is really a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name that I don't see any use for. Just because the "I" key is next to the "U" key is not a reason for a redirect to be created, nor does it make it a "plausible typo". I stand by the R3 nomination fully. SkyWarrior 22:49, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, because the redirect serves no purpose and takes away from Wikipedia's professionalism as I noted at Special:Diff/821835555. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 00:14, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - 2018 government shutdown doesn't exist as a redirect at the time of this vote, so having a misspelled version of that as a redirect is ridiculous. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages)Have a blessed day. 00:24, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - This is an attempt to draw from Wikipedia's professionalism, and the term has nothing to do with the actual article besides being a change of wording. --Kirbanzo (talk) 00:43, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - I assume this was intended as a joke, it adds nothing Wikipedia. Jonpatterns (talk) 10:18, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Keep per WP:CHEAP as a plausible misspelling. These redirects were kept after speedy deletion, while "Government shitdown" and "shitdown" were deleted without an RFD while these two were kept after speedy deletion. 2018 government shutdown exists now. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:27, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I counter your WP:CHEAP argument with WP:COSTLY. It would argue that such a misspelling would be unlikely to happen, at least not on a regular basis, and as such does not need a redirect. SkyWarrior 14:31, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the second word it is a typo I have seen before. It also has some currency as a satirical expression. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 15:18, 23 January 2018 (UTC).[reply]
  • Delete as promoting MOS:NEO. If most of the news agencies are calling it that and self-censoring, like sh*tdown, then reconsider. But it might be just a handful of biased sites. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:54, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - not particularly plausible outside of redirecting every single possible way someone could use the wrong vowel in the spelling of a word (which we should not do, to be clear.) Sergecross73 msg me 18:33, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Humorous but unlikely typo. JOEBRO64 18:49, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Gratuitously offensive and loaded. Unlikely and implausible search term. Sjakkalle (Check!) 20:25, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep It is a plausible typo. Those letters are right beside each other on a conventional keyboard. Just because there is a swear word does not mean the typo is implausible. groig (talk) 21:00, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep mostly based on WP:CHEAP. But, my real reason for commenting here is to point out that while government shitdown is trending on google, it's also an unmeasurably small (i.e. rounds off to 0) fraction of searches for government shutdown. Redirects are not my field of wiki-expertise, so I have no idea how that relates to our policy. FWIW, shitdown comes up with zero hits on the NYTimes internal search. -- RoySmith (talk) 21:41, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If there are practically zero hits on a search, then that would mean that such a misspelling is not likely to happen, and a redirect is not needed. SkyWarrior 22:56, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete not a particularly plausible typo. Lepricavark (talk) 16:39, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as being implausible, and objectively useless. ToThAc (talk) 01:08, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Besides being a rather implausible typo ... I can't stop thinking that this redirect represents some sort of fundraiser where members of the government take dumps for charity. (Yay sense of humor.) Steel1943 (talk) 21:30, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Wikipedia isn't supposed to censor swear words, but that doesn't make it a place to put up Sailorese humor in a non-educational context either. MrHumanPersonGuy (talk) 13:01, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, these are not plausible typos, and the sophomoric humour that comes from having redirects from swears isn't a good enough reason to keep them. Lankiveil (speak to me) 02:26, 29 January 2018 (UTC).[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete. G7, obvious typo -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:04, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, implausible typo, no links to it. IffyChat -- 21:03, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Bizarre nomination. They're two very obvious ways of phrasing the same thing (With the redirect arguably being the more common one). There are no links to it because we've avoided the redirects, but it's a totally obvious link someone might enter looking for that article. The Drover's Wife (talk) 21:32, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm guessing you missed the typo, the word "election" is mis-spelt in the redirect. I probably should have made it clearer when posting the nomination where the typo was. IffyChat -- 21:47, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Well, it's not an implausible typo since clearly I mistyped it when I created the redirect in the first place :-) But yes it wasn't my intention and can be deleted. I note that the correctly-spelt 1912 Queensland state election redirect exists and is used. Kerry (talk) 02:43, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of Final Fantasy V locations[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. Consider this a group closure for the three List of Final Fantasy location nominations. There was slightly different discussion, but it does not make sense for them to have differing results, noting that nobody explicitly suggested such. This is without prejudice against someone restoring the list and nominating at AfD if they desire. -- Tavix (talk) 19:09, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As usual, Setting section is not a list, this redirect is unnecessary. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 08:02, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore this revision of List of Final Fantasy V locations, then send to WP:AFD. This is yet another case of a {{R with history}} that was blanked and redirected without a WP:AFD discussion. Steel1943 (talk) 13:17, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Lets not wasted a bunch of editor time by restoring a 10-year-old article revision only to turn around and delete it. I appreciate that this redirect did not follow some policy or another that mandates that we never, ever get rid of fancruft without making sure it takes a lot of time, but trying to retroactively fix process violations from the past decade is a complete waste of time for everyone involved. --PresN 18:55, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I disagree that my suggestion is a waste of time, considering that if I thought it was a waste of time, I would have never suggested it. RfD is not the place where judgement calls should be made on former content of such a magnitude hiding in the edit history of a redirect. RfD is for forming consensus regarding the usefulness of the redirect itself ... which essentially has nothing to do with article content in the redirect's edit history. AfD is more equipped with editors and a process for forming consensus on the content in the edit history ... considering that the page in the edit history was an article. Steel1943 (talk) 21:53, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore per Steel1943, plausible article needs discussion in AfD. Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:47, 17 January 2018 (UTC) (closer note two other similar discussions (on other list of xyz locations with same comments on this page)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Absent evidence of bad faith, I don't see anything procedurally wrong about deleting such a redirect. This has been a redirect for over a decade (!) without apparent complaint. As for the substance, the article seems like it was a blatant WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE violator. If it were taken to AfD, deletion seems quite likely. --BDD (talk) 18:14, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'd still say weak keep on merits as a redirect as harmless redirect targeting to where one can find the most information. Galobtter (pingó mió) 06:29, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Paunline" is an unlikely misspelling. (Note: the redirect has edit history, but it all looks like the result of a cut-and-paste move or fork from Pauline (Nintendo) that was eventually reverted.) Steel1943 (talk) 17:48, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Calling the subjects in the target "monsters" is wrong/misleading. Also, per the redirect' edit history, it seems that the subject of this redirect is an unnotable web site made by a third party, almost like a wiki for antagonists in the Mario series. The subject of this redirect is not mentioned at its target. The subject of the redirect is an enemy character exclusive to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but it's not mentioned there either. Since it's a random unnotable enemy in a RPG-style game, it's inclusion in Wikipedia would essentially be a WP:GAMEGUIDE violation. Steel1943 (talk) 14:03, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - Only shows up in one game, and in one area within that one game, no less? This seems like a pointless bit of trivia even if we had detailed information at the targeted page, which we don't anyways. I agree. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 01:11, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The misspelling of the word "Goomba" is too unlikely. Steel1943 (talk) 13:46, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - agree that there's too many bizarre parts here to make it a likely search term. (Misspelling of Goomba, randomly tagging "mario enemies" at the end, the fact that its plural and not singular, etc.) Sergecross73 msg me 18:42, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The grammar of this redirect is too poor to be plausible. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 03:55, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete no other articles with "The history on". They are usually "The history of". Also, since there are no articles detailing the history of the franchise besides the franchise article itself, this would raise false expectations. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:05, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While humorous, this is plain misleading as a redirect. I'm sure anyone looking for "that guy from Halo" can navigate to the series page and read a few sentences in. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 03:52, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
