Move[edit]

Hello WikiDan61. It looks like your move of IOTA (Distributed Ledger Technology) was reverted. If you still think the title should be changed, consider opening a {{Requested move}} on the talk page. Such a discussion might help draw the attention of new editors to the topic and improve the editing climate in other ways. I did some searches to see whether IOTA is generally referred to as a cryptocurrency or in some other way, but found few sources besides the proponents. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 20:24, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@EdJohnston: Thanks. Done. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:36, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You seem to have created an extra section header with no content ('Move request and discussion'). It can probably be deleted. EdJohnston (talk) 20:52, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@EdJohnston: Yeah. I didn't realize the requested move template would create its own header. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:57, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer Newsletter[edit]

Hello WikiDan61, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

Barlow House Museum[edit]

This is a Nationally Registered historic location. That seems relevant. What must I remove to satisfy your criteria? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DG Barlow (talkcontribs) 18:06, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DG Barlow: There is a draft of the article (apparently created before you created your article, but with similar promotional content, so I suspect you and the other author were working from the same brochure) at Draft:The Barlow House Museum. I've taken the liberty to clean up that draft, and I encourage you to review and improve it if you can, but I have not submitted it for review because I don't think the museum meets the criteria for inclusion. Listing at the NRHP does indicate that the house merits mention somewhere, but there is simply not enough information available in reliable sources to build a full article about this place. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:32, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I wrote that draft as well but thought it lost. The primary source for historical information was a family tree. As all of that info is small in nature and over 100 years ago the primary goal of the article is as a resource for the public to be aware of the presence and role of the museum in the local community. Does that warrant inclusion? I'm not sure what else to say about the organization other than what we do and where we came from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DG Barlow (talkcontribs) 18:38, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DG Barlow: If you are looking to create a resource to inform the public of the presence and role of the museum in their community, it sounds like you want to create a website for the museum. Great goal! Go forth and do it! But Wikipedia is not a free webhosting service, so it is not the place to achieve that goal. And a personal family tree would not be considered a reliable source for content at Wikipedia, so if you want there to be a Wikipedia page about this place, you're going to have to find published sources. Books, websites, newspaper article, that kind of thing. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:08, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I resubmitted the original draft with your changes. I hope that is sufficient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DG Barlow (talkcontribs) 19:23, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I don't think it will be accepted by the AFC reviewer, but I'll leave it alone for now and let someone else decide. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:31, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you have any idea when the AFC will review this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DG Barlow (talkcontribs)

@DG Barlow: No. As noted in the AFC template, the AFC process is highly backlogged. Like all other processes at Wikipedia, it is manned by volunteers, and they get to things when they get to them. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:10, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notable writer Davey Nate[edit]

Hello @WikiDan61:, I'm seeing that you think writing songs for music industry people isn't notable. Mr Davey Nate has the credits and sources for this article to remain on Wikipedia. Can you suggest any edit or sources you would like to see as more proof to this? I'm willing to change anything needed to make sure it appears that Davey Nate is an actual person of significance to all. Dman54321 (talk) 20:17, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dman54321: In order to be included at Wikipedia, an artist must meet the criteria listed at WP:MUSIC, or the criteria at WP:GNG. Generally, there needs to be evidence of significant coverage in several independent sources. Listings at discogs can verify that he wrote a song, but they do not show evidence that anyone has take note of his career. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:20, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: Thank you for pointing this out. Please allow me to finish adding all the correct and additional sources from independent media sites. There are several for Davey Nate. There are also more songs written from him to more notable K-Pop artists as well. Please stand by in couple hours all that additional information will be updated. Dman54321 (talk) 20:33, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

M.Karunanidhi page - Indiscrimate list[edit]

sir/mam @WikiDan61 this is biography of living person(M.Karunanidhi).he is now 94years old living leader.you mention that those list are indiscriminate collection of data,by your way;what about the above sections( Desecrating Hindu Gods ,Involvement in 2G Scam,Connections with LTTE ) is there any present prove there.these are negative things about Karunanidhi,i accept those sections.and You should also accept Positive and achievements of Karunanidhi.i agree those list need some reference and citations.i will give you proper reference for each and every points in that list, give some time, thank you ( sorry for any grammatical mistakes)

Dreem Records[edit]

I received a email telling me that the edit I placed on the page of Record Companies is not acceptable, and violates Wikipedia TOS - I apologize if I did wrongly. I am 76, and did not do anything intentionally to violate Wikipedia TOS ... I was looking to see if the Record Company I founded in 1959, was listed; it was not listed; so I listed it; the info indicated I could write info about my record label Dreem Records; so I did; but I am told I did wrong; you may delete anything you thin is wrong that I wrote; but I think my record label should be listed in the pages that list all record Labels at Wikipedia; what do ya'll think? Wilbert T. " Ted " Sass, Omaha NE USA — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ripsaw71 (talkcontribs)

@Ripsaw1: I'm not sure about the email you received (was it an actual email, or just a message on your user talk page?), but I don't see that anything you've done violates Wikipedia's Terms of Use. The problem is less serious than that: Dreem Records does not appear to be a notable company. Since Wikipedia does not exist to report on every company that ever existed, it sets guidelines as to what content is admissible, and Dreem Records does not appear to meet those guidelines. Therefore, it has been nominated for deletion. You are free to comment at the discussion page. Also, since you are associated with this company, you have an obvious conflict of interest: it is in your interest to promote your company, but that is not in Wikipedia's interest at all. User's are generally discouraged from writing about themselves or their own companies, bands, etc. It is not a violation of the terms of use to do so, it is just discouraged.
It is unlikely that your article will be retained, but the AFD process is funny -- it just might survive after all! But in either case, as a person involved in the music industry, you probably have some unique knowledge about issues other than your own company. Why not find an article that is something you know about and improve it? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:40, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

AXM Futsal[edit]

Im editor of AXM article, may I know some guidelines that can make my article suitable enough. Im new here and I dont know anything about this things. please help me so that my article will not be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aepangemanan (talkcontribs) 17:17, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Aepangemanan: The welcome message on your talk page is the best place to start. It will point you to various guidelines and help pages to help you navigate your way around Wikipedia and the article creation process. In the specific case at hand, it is not clear from the sources you've provided that AXM is sufficiently notable to be included at Wikipedia. Based on the comment you made at Talk:AXM Futsal Manado (here), it appears that AXM is a local team that has participated in some provincial tournaments. The citations provided appear to be from local news sources, so evidence of widespread coverage is not present. Also, since several of the sources name Alventura Pangemanan as the team owner and manager, it would appear that you have a conflict of interest regarding this topic, and should probably not be the person to create this article in the first place. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:35, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just to make this clear, how can I provide something that can make this AXM article can be used in wikipedia? also Alventura B. Pangemanan is not me and there are no conflict of interest for this article. but I am an Indonesian that know little about internet or even wikipedia. English is not my first language but I keep on trying to provide the most reliable source. and some of the AXM tournament was made by Indonesian Politician that made the tournaments for seeking the best talent in our province. Please Help in the most easiest way. Thank You. 17:55, 31 July 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aepangemanan (talkcontribs) 17:52, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Aepanagemanan: You will need to provide evidence that AXM Futsal Manado has received widespread significant coverage in independent media. Coverage in local media (media that is specific to Manado only, rather than media that is addressed to a wider, national-level audience) is generally not considered sufficient to show that a topic (this team, for example) merits inclusion at Wikipedia. Also, since you claim that English is not your first language, you might be more successful editing on the Indonesian Wikipedia, where it is more likely that you will be able to read and understand the policy and help guidelines. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:02, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

now I have use some reference that is not based on Manado, but still proving that AXM is a local team but have sent some players to the national competition. if you can help me, what is the main problem of this article? aepangemanan 20:57, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Will this AXM article be deleted? what should I do to prevent it? I read about the guide lines but still can figure it out. there are no kind of conflict of interest and promoting or advertising. this is purely an act to share information to others, but I still dont know how to get rid the page issue. aepangemanan 21:02, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Aepangemanan: I have replied on this topic as much as I care to. I have pointed you to the relevant guidelines. The article is up for a deletion discussion. It is not up to me whether it gets deleted or not, but rather up to the consensus of the Wikipedia community. I cannot help you improve this article as all the available sources are in Indonesian, a language I do not speak and Google does not translate well. If you are able to improve the article, it may be retained. It may be retained in its present shape upon review of other editors. Only time will tell. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:30, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiDan71, what do you mean with your text: Neither the congregation, as an organization, nor the building itself, are notable.. Gr, BOBBYJOHN10 · TALK 14:41, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Bobbyjohn10: Wikipedia has different criteria for inclusion for organizations (such as companies, clubs, teams, and (especially in this case) congregations) and for buildings. Articles about churches at Wikipedia have been variously interpreted as being either about the building or about the congregation that uses the building, so the criteria for inclusion for articles about churches are a little muddied. But in this case, I see no evidence that this church meets the criteria for inclusion either for the congregation (this is not a notable group of people) or for the building itself (this is not a notable building). I hope that clears the matter up. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:39, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Atley[edit]

Why cant the page about me be removed from Wikipedia.

I have expressly told you that this is highly stressful for me.

It is inaccurate, wrong, out of date and damaging to my professional career - which has nothing at all to do with photography or race car driving - and I have kindly asked that Wikipedia remove it, on multiple ocassions.

THIS IS A PAGE ABOUT ME. NO ONE ELSE. NO ONE ELSE HAS TO LIVE WITH THIS. I DO. Yet others seem to care and keep replacing this page.

And despite me asking a number of times to delete this page and going through various channels asking for this, the page is exactly the same as what it has been.

WHY DOES THIS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN when I am crying out to you to constantly to remove it? Why does the fact I tell you this is highly stressful for me fall on deaf ears?

What is it going to take to have this damaging, stressful and wrong page about me removed from Wikipedia? WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE??????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackatley (talk • contribs) 12:02, 2 August 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackatley (talkcontribs)

@Jack Atley: Jack, are you saying that you are the professional photography who won the 2008 Australian Press Photographer of the Year Award, but that you are no longer working as a professional photographer? And that you never worked as a race car driver? Or is it possible that this article is about a completely different person named Jack Atley, and not about you at all? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:51, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jack Atley: Further investigation reveals:
this edit, which implies that you are (or claim to be) the photographer who won the 2008 award;
this interview in which you professed a love of Formula 1 racing, and having had an experience of trying it, which was (incorrectly, I believe) used to link you the photographer with perhaps a completely different person who was a Formula 1 driver.
Based on this, I would support removal of the Formula 1 information from the Jack Atley article. However, that does not justify deletion of the entire article. With the racing information removed, it is unclear how this article, which portrays you as a successful photographer, could damage your reputation in any way. And Wikipedia does not remove articles simply because the subject of the article does not like their content, any more than newspapers only print the facts that you want them to print. As long as facts in the article are verifiable, Wikipedia policy is to allow them to remain. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:05, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, yes, this is me. Yes I am saying I did work as a photographer and no, I did not win the Australian Press Photographer of the Year award in 2008. That is wrong. It is also not possible that this article is about a completely different person, because it is my bio. However, it is now 4 years out of date, I no longer work as a photographer, I now longer take any form of photos whatsoever, none. Nor do I have any association whatsoever with any photography or with the photographic industry, yet due to this article saying I am an Australian photographer, people still connect me to it and I would like it stop as it is no longer relevant to me. That is what I have been trying to say to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackatley (talkcontribs) 14:59, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackatley: You are no longer a photographer, but you were a photographer. At best, I can support changing the wording to say "Jack Atley is a former Australian photographer." It is unlikely you'll find support for deleting the information in the article just because you have moved on from that career. You were notable when you were doing it, enough so to have garnered some awards. If you didn't want a permanent record of your past accomplishments recorded at Wikipedia, you perhaps shouldn't have written an article about yourself in the first place. (See Wikipeda's Law of Unintended Consequences.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!!

Robert Ray Artist[edit]

Hi, Thanks for your input, I'm grateful. I did not write much, the page is comprised almost entirely of quotations from research. The quotes are sourced and cited. I have not added anything of my own in terms of describing him. Please advise and thanks again for your help. Booleaserate (talk) 17:55, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Booleaserate: Yes, I noticed that you used fairly extensive quotes. That is actually not a desirable way to write Wikipedia articles. Brief quotes to illustrate an opinion are fine, but using an extensive quote to describe Ray's work (even when properly ascribed), rather than writing the description in your own words, is its own form of copyright violation. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:14, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks WikiDan, I appreciate your insight. This is kind of a catch22. I'm concerned that if I mimic or restate the "content/message" of the quotes and then attribute it to the source; what will that look like from the standpoint of neutrality? The quotes have been used to underscore dates, Ray's artistic range and his commitment to the art community of Taos. It seems like adding my words in place of edits to cut down the quotes will make it look like I am injecting my opinion. Have you seen other similar cases I might be able to get a look at to see how they did it? I'll stay tuned and thanks again for your time! Booleaserate (talk) 20:49, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Booleaserate: And now you've run smack into the reason that you shouldn't be writing this article in the first place: your inability to write neutrally about the subject. So you have abandoned neutrality in favor of attributing the nice words to others. I'm not an artist, nor am I versed in writing about art, so I'm not sure how to help you here. I suggest you make queries at WP:WikiProject Art. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:57, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, plz remove the speedy deletion tag from my page[edit]

Sir, u have recently added a speedy deletion tag on my page, Rhapsody, The Annual Social of Medical College, Kolkata.. Sir, Medical College Kolkata is the oldest medical college of asia and rhapsody, a 71 years old fest is one of the oldest cultural events of Bengal colleges. IT is a traditional event of Doctors. I think the topic is encyclopedic and the people must know in detail about the culture of the oldest medical college of asia. Please guide me, to improve my page and please remove the tag Dipra Dattasarma (talk) 13:06, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dipra Dattasarma: Apparently someone else already has. (Unusual, as this was that editor's first ever contribution to Wikipedia. A strange place to begin editing, I'd say.) I still do not believe the event meets the criteria for inclusion. Colleges all over the world (and especially India, I've come to learn) hold festivals like these all the time. Unless you can provide evidence that this particular festival has been the subject of significant coverage in independent media (i.e. newspapers not affiliated with the medical school, and with broader scope than just the local city interest), then the article will likely be deleted anyway. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:12, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I will soon edit the reference part and give valuable references from famous news papers from India, like- The Hindustan Times, The Statesman etc. Plz give me a little time.Hope, as a new editor, I'll get your support and valuable guidance.

Please allow me to remove the requested info I am the original creator[edit]

@WikiDan61: I was the original creator of this content, i originally posted the content from the username Integrated Webworks, which then got blocked because it referenced a company name, i then placed a username request change, i changed the username to Pathik279, which again was still blocked not allowing me to edit the original content i had posted. I need the info from the SIPP page removed because it is incorrect and needs a rewrite before the information can be posted again. Please help me with this situation, either by removing the page until i can put the correct content with it or by allowing me to keep the info removed until i can rewrite the content — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shankrupss (talkcontribs)

@Shankrupss: I suggest you clear up the confusion over the Pathik279 username. Creating a new username to evade a block on an older username is considered sock puppetry and it will get you blocked. That being said, I will work to clean up the article to allow it to grow correctly. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:01, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61: I have sent in an appeal for the user name with no help or response. I just needed the information taken down until it can be corrected, i didn't know making another username wasn't okay.

@Shrankupss: Your appeal was closed. If you did not receive any feedback from the UTRS people, I suggest you contact them again. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:05, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61: I was told to create a new account twice, so that is what i did

@Shrankupss: OK. If that's what you were told, then so be it. I won't raise a stink about the matter. But don't be surprised if someone does. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:18, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61: Okay thank you, sorry for the trouble, i just wanted to be able to remove that info so it can be replaced by the correct info.

Edit of LS page[edit]

Hello Dan,

At this current moment the information that is displayed on the Lorraine Schwartz page is not accurate. I am kindly asking and have explained that the information should be removed. I will update with a accurate and up to date biography and background. If we could please have this section removed that would be great!

Thank you so much!

Wikieditor3567 (talk) 14:47, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikieditor3567: You have stated that the information is wrong, but you have not stated why it is wrong, or how you know that it is wrong (i.e. what source do you have that contradicts the current information). We can't rely on "I know it's wrong" as a rationale; Wikipedia verifiability requires more than just personal knowledge. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:51, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, @WikiDan61 the information is a gathering of random sentences and phrases from articles that do not flow or correlate. Such as the first initial sentence "Schwartz was raised in a Jewish family in Israel" with a cited source |"I grew up in Israel [and] did not know what prejudice was until I moved to the U.S." Yet, nothing in this citation states Jewish or family. Therefore the mash up of random sentences throughout the entire page is inaccurate. If at least the first sentence could be removed that would be excellent. I am a representative from Lorraine Schwartz that is viewing information that is not true, therefore to retain the integrity and accuracy of wikipedia we would like it removed. Though yes, there are sources cited, they aren't necessarily from credible places. Thank you. Wikieditor3567 (talk) 15:03, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to make this argument at Talk:Lorraine Schwartz. When you do, you must also disclose your connection to Schwartz, per WP:PAID. I don't necessarily disagree with your changes, but they must be discussed in the open forum of the article's talk page prior to being implemented. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:16, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Atley[edit]

Hi @WikiDan61: Whilst I can appreciate your thoughts, the fact remains that this personal page was created 8 years ago and it is now no longer relevant professionally or personally. That is the reason for seeking deletion. I have read your comments carefully and in particular your thoughts about how you dont see this as being harmful. So I will endeavour to answer that. Physically is it harmful, no. Mentally?, yes, because people still professionally associate me with photography. Which is wrong to do. It is not what I do. And this association impacts on my new professional career. It impacts strongly. ok. Things move on. The article is 8 years old. It is out of date. And wrong.

@Jack Atley: The article is not out of date. It states that you are an award-winning photographer. The fact that you no longer work in the photography field does not erase the fact that you once did, and became somewhat notable for your work in that field. Whatever work you're doing now is apparently not notable enough to garner any significant attention, but that doesn't change the past. In the same way that you can't go to the organizations and have then un-award you the awards, you can't come to Wikipedia and have them expunge your past. If the article is that damaging to your reputation, you can try appealing to the Wikimedia foundation through legal channels, but you can't do that within the confines of Wikipedia editing. You'll have to contact the Foundation directly. Their email address is [email protected]. I wish you luck. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:59, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

Dan- /cur Can you please assist me in pointing out specific changes needed to be made in order to not face deletion? I put a lot of time into this to make sure its accurate, would like to maintain it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RapGameHero333 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@RapGameHero333: The relevant guidelines as to what articles can be included in Wikipedia are WP:BAND (notable musicians) and WP:GNG (general notability). As a start, you'll need to provide evidence that Doe Boy has been the subject of significant media attention in media that are independent of him or his music labels. The publishing of a public notice regarding the formation of an LLC is not significant coverage. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:32, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dan-

Understandable. Can I refer you to the pages under a simple google search of "Doe Boy"?. You will find populated articles depicting this artist as an active/current musician....He is also verified on both social networks Twitter and Instagram, which reveals his significance as an artist in the industry with a well-known presence. Would you like me to delete LLC/Company section?

Verified on social networks is not a sufficient claim of notability. If there are specific articles in independent media that you would like to link, please do so. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:48, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dan what happened? I never heard back from you and now I cannot lookout my work. Can you please assist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RapGameHero333 (talkcontribs) 17:26, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@RapGameHero333: I replied to your request above. Apparently you were unable to improve the page before it was deleted. If you'd like the copy of the article back so that you can recreate and improve it, you can contact any of the administrators on this list. Help with page[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for contributing to my new article. I am new to Wikipedia editing and I was wondering if you could help. I want the page to be accurate and acceptable to Wikipedia but was looking to make it look more like the Alloy Digital page... Can you help with this?

Micahgriffin (talk) 15:45, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Micahgriffin: No, I can't help with this. Alloy Digital (now known as Defy Media) is a nationally known media producer that has received significant coverage in multiple media outlets. Intrepid Design Solutions appears to be a small, local web marketing agency not unlike thousands just like it across the country. I don't believe that Intrepid meets the criteria for inclusion at Wikipedia. If you would like to convince the community otherwise, you'll need to provide evidence of significant coverage of the company in several independent media outlets. (See WP:GNG.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:51, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dan, just some information about this user. Micahgriffin edited an article yesterday which was Creating Intrepid Design Solutions - Web & App Design For Greater Kansas City Area. The article itself was created by another user Intrepiddesign and I nominated it for speedy deletion. Then Micahgriffin edited that article by adding a note, in all CAPS, saying the article was written by the business owner or something whilst removing the speedy deletion tag (history seen here but since the article has been deleted you won't be able to see it). In fact based on this, I suspected that these two users are controlled by the same person or entity. I even notified Micahgriffin regarding the possible multiple account problem, as seen in the old version of their talk page: Old revision of User talk:Micahgriffin. They have now cleared up their talk page, though. So now that Micahgriffin created article Intrepid Design Solutions today, you might have a clue about what this user is doing. Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.

Technology update:

KE on the tracks edits[edit]

Hello, I modified KE on the tracks wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.E._on_the_Track before you intervened to put back a previous version. firs editings I did was to take out non neutral elements and auto glorifying elements such as "Following the success of the record, he met a lot of important people in the industry and went on to work with other major artists.". I also edited out sourced links that were dead or self produced (such as links from the youtube page of the subject or billboard links that were dead). It seems to me that all of the fair editing I have done based on lack of relevent sources and non neutral speech were put back by the subject of the page himself.

He then proceeded to add new elements that were unsourced nor neutral such as "platinium record producer", claim to have worked with famous people, etc...

Since there seems to be a background of scams from the subject of the page that can't be ignored and keeping in mind that wikipedia states that biography of living people should be treated withe special care and that "A living person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until convicted by a court of law.", I think it would be best that this article is checked to edit out unrelyable sources, to keep a neutral tone, and to delete all claims that are not sourced until a relyable source is provided.

Best

NB: fair enough, ripoffreport is not a relyable source for wikipedia, therefore I imagine this paragraph of the page have to be deleted, however there is a third link from another website. Is it unrelyable as well, or is it just against wikipedia's neutral policy ?

@BobMorene666: The blog you cited is also not a reliable source. Please review Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources. If K.E. has scammed anyone, you'll need to find evidence of it in legitimate sources (newspapers, magazines or websites that exercise a level of editorial review, or actual legal documents in which K.E. admits to or is found guilty of fraud). Short of that, such imflammatory material has no place at Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:25, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The wrongful deletion of The Purrfect Cat cafe listing[edit]

The Purrfect Cat is a new cat cafe as of July 2017. We should remain listed as we meet the criteria of the other "first in an area" criteria listings and are notable. Some listed haven't even opened which I think is invalid. We are the first in Ventura County California and there are newspaper articles in the Ventura County Star and the Acorn and online news sources to validate this. We are affiliated with the Ventura County Animal Services. Please stop deleting our inclusion. I can be reached [email protected]. 23.241.56.2 (talk) 16:11, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@23.241.56.2: Sorry for the delay in responding; just getting back from vacation. I don't have a recollection of your article, but presumably it was about a cat café that opened in Ventura County in July 2017. Being the first cat café in Ventura County does not make you notable. Being the first cat café anywhere would make you notable. Local coverage in the Ventura area media do not amount to significant coverage; that would require coverage at the statewide level, at least. Also, since you are affiliated with the organization, you have a conflict of interest and should not be writing the article yourself in the first place. OpencellID Wiki page edits[edit]

Hey Dan,

I am Ankita Gupta and recently made few changes to the wikipedia page of OpencellID. Unfortunately, I observed that you reverted back all my changes. It would be great if you can help me understand the reason behind this gesture of your's.

Thank You, Ankita Gupta — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ankita 9 (talkcontribs) 13:25, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ankita 9: I felt that the changes you made were overly promotional. On reflection, that assessment may have been mistaken, but you will need to provide a citation for the claim that this is the "world's largest collaborative community project". That's an extraordinary claim, and will require an exceptional source. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:07, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: I'm glad you pointed out the mistake and replied back. I will surely find the citation and update the same. Untill then, I have made the required changes to reflect the wiki policies. Thank you.

The Carroll Group[edit]

Thank you for your comment - however the information you have put in the material is simply wrong. We are therefore amending and deleting the mistakes that have been made. It is the same company, not a different Group of Companies but the information you have printed is erroneous and potentially defamatory and therefore that is why my client wants this amended.

Please let me know what you can do.

Kind regards,

Ronnie Hermon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronniehermon (talkcontribs) 15:30, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ronnierhermon: The information in the Carroll Group article is well cited and verifiable. Gerald Carroll[edit]

I can confirm it is the same person they are talking about - just wrong information which is defamatory. Can you please therefore agree to revert to the original changes I proposed so that there are no incorrect statements. Ronnie Hermon Ronniehermon (talk) 15:41, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ronniehermon: Same answer as above: the information is well cited. If you can provide equally reliable sources to refute the existing content, please do so. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:44, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

03:49:26, 22 September 2017 review of submission by Bakabak[edit]

Hi, there, thanks for the quick review!

Just wondering - Can you please help me understand the difference between what was submitted and pages like this one for Talisman at Stanford - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_Talisman? Just trying to understand how to shore things up for a successful submission.

Thanks!

@Bakabak: Well, the notability of the Stanford Talisman group is also questioned, but in their case, they have made notable recordings and have appeared at an Olympics opening ceremony. In the case of Awaken A Cappella, you'll need to provide evidence that someone not connected with your group or the UCLA community has taken note of the organization and written substantially about them. (I.e. not just a listing in a database, but a fully fleshed out article not written and submitted by a member of your group or community.) Disambiguation link notification for October 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Huntington, New York, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Canon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

UC Riverside Student Recreation Center[edit]

Hi WikiDan61,

I apologize for not getting to this sooner. I am a new user and I am still trying to learn all the ropes.

I understand that you feel that the expansion that I made to the UC Riverside Student Recreation Center Wikipedia page is unduly promotional and largely unsourced, but I believe that a large portion of the edits made are still very informational and would provide readers with a greater understanding of the recreation center and the programs that are provided. I believe that Wikipedia is a great platform for people to learn new information and I felt that our original Wikipedia Page was lacking a lot of the information that people may need when considering going to the Student Recreation Center.

I also understand that there were a couple slip-ups where I wrote in first person and that is a mistake that I am willing to fix. Also, I see that you feel the article in largely unsourced and that is because most of the information comes from the program directors themselves during interviews.

I can definitely change the tone of the revisions to steer away from being promotional and move towards being more educational.

I was asked to update the page as part of the UCR SRC Media Team by the UC Riverside Recreation Marketing Manager. Feel free to contact him as well if you would like any additional information. His contact information is listed below:

Dusan Stancic Recreation Marketing Manager Tel: 951.827.3951 Email: [email protected]

Thank you, Tsam001 (talk) 20:02, 13 October 2017 (UTC) Tiffany Sam[reply]

@Tsam001: A few points to address here:
  1. You can't use interviews with program directors as your source material, since these interviews are neither independent nor available to the general public for review and verification. Instead, you should rely on sources that have been published in media (preferably media independent of UCR) that is available for others to review, such as newspapers, magazines, websites, etc.
  2. What you see as useful information to the general public looks more like useful information to existing and potential UC Riverside students, and no one else. It would be very appropriate for this information to exist on the UC Riverside website, but not necessarily on Wikipedia.
  3. You mention that you are working for the SRC's media team, so clearly your goal is to promote the UC Riverside Student Recreation Center, but that goal is at odds with Wikipedia's stated goals of barring promotion. At the very least, per Wikipedia's guidelines on paid editing, you must disclose your relationship with UC Riverside on your user page. Since you have a very obvious conflict of interest with this subject, I suggest that you perform no further edits to the page itself, but rather suggest any changes you think necessary on the talk page and allow other users to evaluate your suggestions.
--WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:10, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiDan61:,

I can provide sources that can back up the material that was posted on the wikipedia page. Also, I understand that you believe that the information that I provided is only useful for existing and potential UC Riverside students, but our ultimate goal is to bring awareness to the UC Riverside Student Recreation Center and provide a more in depth history of how the recreation center came to be. Can you explain the difference between the University of Illinois Recreation Center's Wikipedia page and what I tried to post on the UC Riverside Student Recreation Center page?

Best regards, Tiffany Sam

@Tsam001: There is not a page for the University of Illinois Recreation Center, so I cannot point out differences. You say that your ultimate goal is to bring more awareness to the UCRSCR, but that sounds very close to promotion. In general, campus facilities that have not had significant coverage in independent media do not merit separate articles, but rather are covered (at the appropriate level of depth) within the articles about the university that houses them. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:42, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiDan61:,

This is the direct link to the recreation center page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activities_and_Recreation_Center . My goal when working on the UCRSRC page was to model the information off of this page. Can you please point out the differences between this page and ours so I can understand how I can best fix the page to meet your guidelines?

Best, Tiffany Sam

@Tsam001: Thanks for the link. That matter has been handled. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:55, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

LMB[edit]

Hi WikiDan

Thanks for clarifying my edits. I noticed most/all of my changes were removed-is there anyway you could help me understand why each one got changed? I know a few were obviously not neutral most specifically in the advertising section but I felt that more of the changes in the top section were neutral along with the history section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CoreDigital (talkcontribs) 17:41, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@CoreDigital: In general, when I see an editor with a conflict of interest adding promotional material to an article, I revert all of that editor's changes, as they are all suspect. Given that you have an obvious conflict of interest with the topic, I recommend that instead of editing the article directly, you edit the talk page to suggest changes you think are needed (with citations to verify the changed information) and allow disinterested editors to evaluate your changes and incorporate them as appropriate. I am not sure if I need more references or the person needs to have more fame. Any help appreciated thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarheelroger (talkcontribs)

@Tarheelroger: Generally, mayors of smaller cities are not independently notable unless they have done something to achieve a wider notability. Your article relies solely on sources local to the Fayetteville area, whereas coverage from a wider perspective (at least state wide if not national level) would be required.
