This is Not My Hat[edit]

Hi! This is Not My Hat is an article in progress by a student under my direct supervision. Thanks. HullIntegritytalk / 16:58, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@HullIntegrity: Then you need to provide better supervision. The revision that your student created is written more like a book review, with enticing little bits like "The eyes have it in Jon Klassen's latest hat book." That is not how we write at Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia; a more prosaic tone is expected. It is also a direct copyright violation of The Horn Book review of This is Not My Hat. Wikipiedia cannot accept text that has previously been published elsewhere. Your student's version also includes an entire synopsis of I Want My Hat Back, an entirely separate book that your student has claimed to be an early edition of this book. It is not; it is a separate book entirely. The fact that the author has chosen to write on the same theme again does not make them different editions of the same book. Please address these issues with your student. In the meantime, I will revert back to the version before your student got involved; please discuss any further changes at Talk:This is Not My Hat prior to introducing them to the page. (Please see WP:BRD. Your student boldly edited; he was reverted; now its time to discuss.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:10, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: Apologies--your response did not immediately load. If sources are properly cited, they can be used. Please do not question my supervision as that is just rude. And I am part of that "we" in Wikipedia as are my students (who, for the record, are not required to publish live content at all). I find your deletion of content (and re-deletion) aggressive and your response to me and my fellow editors improper. HullIntegritytalk / 17:28, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@HullIntegrity: Sources, properly cited, may be quoted briefly. Reproducing the entire review, in an uncited paragraph, does not meet this criterion. And I'm sorry if my questioning your supervision appears rude, but if you are going to supervise your students, you must do it properly and assure that they don't violate Wikipedia guidelines. And if another editor corrects your student's work, it is not a sufficient excuse to say "I'm supervising this work, so hands off." That just smacks of ownership. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:34, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated Deletion[edit]

Could you please explain your repeated deletion of new information on the article This is Not My Hat? Nothing is plagiarized or opinion, I (an established editor)am supervising the revision, and you just reverted two editors without further discussion. HullIntegritytalk / 17:19, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@HullIntegrity: I have explained myself in the section above. Your opinion about nothing being plagiarized is incorrect or ill-informed. Your student's synopsis of the plot of the book is copied verbatim from this source. That is a copyright violation and cannot be allowed to remain. As for the "First Edition" section, as I have pointed out above, that section is about an entirely different book (I Want My Hat Back). That section also contains a conclusion not verified by the cited review, that the bear eats the rabbit. However, that is irrelevant. This is not an article about I Want My Hat Back. If you or your student want to write an article about that book, please do so, but don't try to pass that book off as an earlier edition of this book. They are separate books, albeit with a similar theme. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:31, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: I happened to be in the process of working through the edit with the class when you deleted. Since that did not happen, and they learned quite a bit of valuable information about Wikipedia in the process ... oh, I will handle it after coffee. And please tread lightly on the ownership issue. It is an article in process with multiple editors. No sock puppets. No meat puppets. Just an article in progress with faults that can be constructively corrected by other editors like yourself and myself. Coffee ... then I will fix it. Pax. HullIntegritytalk / 11:53, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In the future, use of the the Talk page for the article in question, rather than flat deletion, might be more constructive. Thank you for considering that option. HullIntegritytalk / 21:56, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@HullIntegrity: There is no need for discussion when the removal of copyrighted material is at issue. As for the rest, WP:BRD comes into play. Your student made a bold edit, I reverted them. The next should have been discussion, not a restoration of the reverted material. I'm glad you've taken the matter to the talk page now. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:39, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: There was just a lot of bad timing in there as I was live with 28 editors. My apologies. HullIntegritytalk / 14:22, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Very sorry![edit]

I'm new to Wikipedia and got a notification that my page was patrolled. I thought the page I was editing was my own and that someone had changed all of my information to their own. I'm SINCERELY sorry! It won't happen again. IDSNational (talk) 18:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC)IDSNational[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Hi! I'm really new to Wikipedia and tried to create an article for an organization I'm in which was decided to be not notable enough to merit it's own page. I wanted to thank you for being so cordial and about suggesting deletion and understanding my newness--it motivates me to learn more about Wikipedia's guidelines and become a better editor!

Lrschneider (talk) 17:47, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Lrschneider: I'm sorry if your experience has soured you on the concept of writing for Wikipedia. I hope the welcome message that has been place on your user talk page will prove useful: the linked articles will give you a good idea of how to contribute, and how not to contribute. You will learn that writing about your own organization is generally discouraged. Good luck.WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:48, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

why????[edit]

Why did you delete my wikipedia page, it is a sporting team just like chelsea for example. People come to see our games. what do i have to do get it back???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwcotters (talkcontribs)

@Jwcotters: No, it is not a sporting team just like Chelsea. Chelsea is a fully-professional football team that receives significant coverage in independent sources. The 15B Hockey Team is an amateur club that doesn't belong to any league. It is completely non-notable. Further, I did not delete the page, I only recommended that it be deleted. If you'd like the text of the article, you can contact any of the administrators listed here. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 05:13, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Further more[edit]

Did i mention that it was to do with an academic institute? Im pretty sure thats allowed after i read the t's and c's. BOOM! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwcotters (talkcontribs) 16:07, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Jwcotters: No, you did not mention that. But that does not mean it is automatically notable. Please read the notability guidelines to understand what is required. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:14, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DELETION OF OUR EVENT PAGE[edit]

I JUST WROTE THE WIKI PAGE FOR OUR ANNUAL EVENT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT WOULD BE THE REASON RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING YOU QUESTION ITS CREDIBILITY. IT WAS CLEAR IN ITS IDEA. I AWAIT YOUR REPLY. Vijaybhaskarch (talk) 13:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vijaybhaskarch: First, please stop shouting. Second, I don't question the credibility of your event, only its notability. As an event that has not yet occurred, it is unlikely that your event has garnered the required level of significant coverage in any independent reliable sources. If, after the event occurs, it garners such coverage, an uninvolved editor can create a neutral article about it based on those sources, but until such sources exist, the event does not yet merit an article at Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:09, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for your advice. it was good knowing about it. And when exactly was the page deleted?? (just want to know) And could I get my content back. It would really mean a lot.

p.s: I was never shouting. Sorry if my comment made you think so. And when exactly was the page deleted?? (just want to know) And could I get my content back. It would really mean a lot.Vijaybhaskarch (talk) 13:13, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Akerman Law Firm Page[edit]

Hello WikiDan61,

Thanks for your note. I appreciate you schooling a novice in the ways of Wikipedia editing. Much appreciated. The law firm Akerman wishes to do away with the stale content posted some six years ago. A lot has changed for the firm in those six years. I have been working on a rewrite since last September, and finally got it to a place where I feel we're not stepping on any toes. I did the research. Had a number of chats in the tea room to find out what will fly and what won't. I'm sensitive that we're not to hawk services. I've third-party sourced as needed, and the links in the copy lead to only other Wikipedia articles. If you would be so kind, please let me know what faux pas we may be committing so I can make the necessary adjustments. Once again, I appreciate you taking time out to educate me. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks.

Kind regards, DC — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akerman1234 (talkcontribs) 16:27, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Akerman1234: I don't see any evidence of you having made any posts at the teahouse. If you did so under another username, please be aware of Wikipedia's sock puppet policy. Users should generally only use a single username except under some fairly extraordinary circumstances. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:56, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks WikiDan61. Here is where I did my chatting: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-en-help?nick=YellowMelon34 - I assumed (I know I shouldn't do that) that this was a "tea room," which I thought was a generic term. In any event, my research also took me to a host of other law firm Wikipedia articles to see what other folks were doing, and who abused the privilege of using Wikipedia. The changes I have are in response to call-outs for plagiarism, name dropping and the like. I kept my content to up-to-date items like new office openings, increase in lawyers, condensing of the history (significantly), and adding to the alumni list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akerman1234 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article Monika Bulanda[edit]

First of all, thank you for comment about my article. Cause I see my fault. İts my first article working. Then I will check citation problems and I am fixed. İf your not problem with you, can you check my article again. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gunindif (talkcontribs) 21:08, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Gunindif: You have added citations, but I don't see that they're from reliable sources. You've cited Ms Bulanda's own website, which is considered a primary source and which, because Ms Bulanda is likely to use her cite for advertising rather than for neutral reporting about herself, is not a good source. You've also cited this ad, which, because it's an ad, is also not a good source. You've also cited this article about a band that Ms Bulanda played with, that mentions her by name only once in passing. Finally, you've cited an NTV video that I am unable to assess because I can't access it from my work computer, and I'll be unlikely to assess it even when I can access it as I don't speak Turkish. Based on the sources that you've added, I'm not willing to remove the proposed deletion template, as that requires that you add reliable sources. If Ms Bulanda is as talented as the article says, reliable sources should be easy to come by. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:22, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article Monika Bulanda[edit]

I create my resource on behalf of my friends. The method I use quote the source WP: SELFPUB seems appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gunindif (talkcontribs) 22:17, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Gunindif: It is true that WP:SELFPUB allows for the use of self-published sources within a biographical article, but WP:BLP requires that such unreliable sources not be the sole sources. At least one reliable source is required. So, if there is an independent article written about Ms Bulanda, that would be great. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:09, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article Daniel Horvath (actor)[edit]

Hello WikiDan61, first of all let me thank you for your time and support of my article, I make all the necessary changes and add the sources that are reliable to prove the existence and work of the actor Daniel Horvath, please if you have time check the article and if you decide that its good enough hope you will prove it and will delete the pop up window. So thank you very much again for your time and help in wikipedia.--Anonimoushh (talk) 14:49, 25 February 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonimoushh (talkcontribs) 14:47, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

: @Anonimoushh: No, your sources are still largely unreliable. Videos posted on Vimeo and listings at IMDb are not considered reliable sources. Coverage in independent third-party sources is what is needed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:50, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ok, WikiDan61 and what do you think abut the official page of an actor? can I refer to that?--Anonimoushh (talk) 14:52, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Anonimoushh: I think the policy spelled out at Wikipedia:Reliable sources is pretty clear. An actor's own "official page", being used largely to promote that actor, is not a reliable source for information at Wikipedia. IMDb is a questionable source, because, like Wikipedia, it can be edited by its users with little to no editorial oversight. It is marginally acceptable as a source to simply list the actors filmography, but for any more detailed information, reliable sources are needed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:56, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: Thank you very much for all your detailed explanation, I do my best in the research and I have found more staff about the actor on the official sources of the third parties, hope you will diced that its better then before. Thank you--Anonimoushh (talk) 15:12, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That would be grade and I want to make a huge contribution, but on the other hand it is always better to have a separate or isolated and specific article about a particular subject so people can take exactly what they need and write that in their papers. There are many article on Wiki, very long and sometimes it is hard to find what you need, so I want to make mine accessible and concise like "come and go" kinds of things. Don't you agree? Please answer you opinion is highly valued. Thank youIgorsemenov1993 (talk) 17:56, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Take your time to edit the article there (use the {{Biography}} template and then fill in the details as needed) and then submit the article for review by following the instructions at WP:AFC. Bogus Deletion Request for Cloud Nine (Expression), aka Cloud Nine (Mental State)[edit]

In my opinion, every Cloud 9 (*) article Should be deleted except for the article I wrote about cloud nine being a mental state, because its the bases of every single on of the Cloud Nine articles. If there was not a Cloud Nine Mental State Expression in the English language and US popular culture then there would never have been anybody labeling things as cloud nine in the first place. I see they have cloud nine:the drug, cloud nine:the book, the cloud:video game. Where do you think this comes from? its because its a well known expression and it has an interesting history of being associated with cloud no 9. in a weather cloud classification system. This is the type of information people love when they read wikipedia Cloud99er (talk) 21:06, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I think people should know why their teacher is throwing an eraser at their head after stating they are on cloud nine.Cloud99er (talk) 21:09, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cloud99er: Why a person encounters the phrase cloud nine is somewhat irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, Wikipedia is not a dictionary, it's an encyclopedia. If one searches for the phrase "cloud nine", one arrives at the cloud nine page, which, in addition to the list of articles at Wikipedia that include this term, has a very convenient link to the Wiktionary definition of cloud nine. This is more than sufficient to address the need you have articulated. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:18, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Exchange students' challenges[edit]

Igorsemenov1993 (talk) 18:24, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Because I just started using Wiki and so it happened that I have made a few mistakes that turned out to be critical, and the consequences may even be dire because of the copyrights infringement policy and what not, instead of discouraging me to add more stuff and expand the Wikipedia you are only criticizing me. I said "In your college courses, you'll likely be graded in many ways"; but rather it should say "College courses are graded on the basis of many criteria". If you want to help, then do so. Stow your idle chatting and do something. I too have a right to criticize other wiki editors, but If I were you I would do so under one condition I would provide help. Isn't Wiki a community where people collaborate and solve issues altogether? I consider your comment pejorative and tactless. Next time you are going to write something like that think twice and do some research about "Political Correctness".Igorsemenov1993 (talk) 18:24, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Igorsemonov1993: I offered my suggestions as to the writing style of the article in an attempt to be helpful, to guide you in future Wikipedia writing. If you do not feel that my messages were helpful, than so be it. Please remember, however, to assume good faith on the part of your fellow Wikipedians, and not harass them for trying to be helpful.
I do not feel inclined to improve your article any further than I already have because I do not believe the article needs to exist at all. I believe that the small amount of actually verifiable encyclopedic content could easily be added to a different article, and when the discussion about that merge is complete, I will take action, but not until then.

Humane Society For Boone County[edit]

I was trying to add information on active nonprofits in Indiana. Is there an issue with that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apathetic.Realist (talkcontribs) 17:01, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Apathetic.Realist: In principle, no. But no every organization merits inclusion at Wikipedia. There are criteria for inclusion, and there is no indication that the Humane Society For Boone County meets those criteria. (The same is true for Indy Reads; it may well face deletion as well.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:04, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: I'd get it if it weren't a registered 501c3, hasn't been active in years and not contributing to the community but Boone County and Indy Reads are registered 501c3 and do play a role in their respective communities.
@Apathetic.Realist: Registering as a 501(c)3 is not that significant; organizations do it all the time with little or no fanfare. And it goes without saying that any non-profit plays a role in its community. What is required is evidence of significant coverage of the organization (i.e. articles or books, available in print or online, written by authors who are not affiliated with the organizations). Local newspaper coverage of the organization's routine activities does not generally count as "significant coverage". State-wide or regional coverage at minimum would suffice. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:35, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: I figured that some notable links were required which is what I did with Boone County. There was decent coverage done by RTV6 WRTV which is a large TV station in Indiana with wide coverage of Central Indiana as a whole, since said county is next to Marion- so no it's not like they were mentioned in the town paper. This pretty much was blasted to the highest population seat in the State and was further covered online by the TV station. I can add publications for Indy Reads since there are published books that mention it, if that's what it takes.

@Fleunador: I don't know what you mean by "I'm try to make news". But if you insist on writing content that cannot be verified (or has actually been verified to be false), your content will be deleted, and you will find yourself blocked. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:04, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pandas! The Movie definitely a hoax[edit]

Not able to jump through all the hoops myself right now but wanted you to know that this is definitely a hoax--the new user who created it is undoubtedly also user Alliasalmon, now reflected in the article as the "creator" of the movie, who created a bunch of hoax articles last week. Sorry I'm not able to take time right now for report preparation, etc. but I was glancing at the new-pages feed while waiting for coffee to brew and recognized the name. Have fun... thanks! - Julietdeltalima (talk) 17:42, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I prepared an SPI report and added a speedy tag to the article. Julietdeltalima (talk) 18:04, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hasty tagging[edit]

Hi. I think you tagged Strada Stretta for speedy deletion as no content far too soon, giving the author only two minutes before the tag was placed. Since speedy deletion tags are bright red and can bite the newcomers please wait a while before applying less serious tags such as no content to allow authors time to insert content into the article. Thanks! Appable (talk) 04:35, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Appable: In general I'd say you're right, and I often warn other users of the same error. But in this case, the user appears to be promoting something by posting the links first and the spammy, non-notable content later. In any case, I don't think the article merits inclusion. Suspected of using multiple accounts[edit]

Hello, I am writing on behalf of Reilly. I am Reilly's teacher. Several of my students are getting messages that they are abusing multiple accounts. They are not doing this, they are working in the same classroom on multiple parks in MI. They won the Fan Favorite vote in the Verizon App Challenge. They are getting tutored by a professor from Boise State University. He recommended for my students to make Wikipedia pages for each park that their App will serve. We will be presenting our App at the TSA conference in June. We need this to be done to attend the conference. Can you please help remove the warnings and help us get these pages published. If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]

Greg Brovont — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReillyG13 (talkcontribs) 15:07, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@ReillyG13: and Mr Brovont, I'm sorry you were given bad advice by the professor from Boise State University. Wikipedia pages need to meet the criteria for inclusion, and most local parks simply do not. If your students' app requires an online repository of data to draw from, your students will have to create that on another website. (Understand that the Wikipedia software can be hosted on many web hosting services, so your students can build their own mini-Wikipedia just to serve their app.) If the professor's suggestion was just a "wouldn't it be nice if your app could link to a Wikipedia page for the park", then, yes, it would be nice, if the parks meet the criteria for inclusion, but since they do not appear to, then there can be no Wikipedia page to link to. Sorry. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:15, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
PS -- I didn't now know about the suspicion of multiple accounts. I think that the leap to that conclusion was very likely premature. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:15, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
PPS @ReillyG13: Mr Brovont -- if you are going to supervise your students' use of Wikipedia in this or other projects, I strongly recommend that you register your own account rather than posting messages under your student's account. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:18, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Renal IT in UK[edit]

Dear Dan

Would this compromise be possible? I have now deleted the original article on my RenalMed website (please feel free to check). And I will not put it back if you allow us to start a Wiki page

I do not consider this research (science .. I do that too). It is history, from what I can see the first history of medical IT on Wikipedia, so original. I am trying to draw to the worlds attention to that only in my specialty (renal) are there complete medical registries (ie all patients with a single disease (end stage renal failure, ie dialysis or a transplant) in your country on a database

If you don't believe, name a chronic disease close to you, and show me that your country (USA or wherever) has a complete (ie all patients) national database. Bet you 5 zillion zloties that there isn't one. And I think it would be a good idea if your country knew the number of patients with that disease, where they live, their age/sex/race, comorbifities and all other aspects of their epidemiology

Wikipedia has many chapters on medical history, some very obscure and of little application to the rest of the world, eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_medicine_in_the_Philippines

Oh yes. I would appreciate a guidance from a more experienced Wiki person on how to develop the page. How do I do that?

Best wishes, and pretty please

Andy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andystein2 (talkcontribs) 18:23, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@AndyStein2: Whether it is science or history, if it is not previously documented in a reliable source, its inclusion here is considered original thought. (Not all research is scientific research.) Basically, Wikipedia should never be the first publisher of any knowledge. In order to remain a reliable source of information, Wikipedia demands that the material published here be based on reliable sources published elsewhere, relying on the editorial policies of those reliable sources to assure that the material here has been fact checked to some degree. Your own personal recollections of the history of the medical ID industry in the UK are not based on published sources. Surely there is a medical journal that covers nephrology in the UK or internationally. Your article might be of interest to them and then, once reviewed by that journal's editorial staff, could become the basis of an article here at Wikipedia. Different languages[edit]

I've taken the unusual step of removing a message you posted on a talk page. It was at User talk:Ganzaya Gansukh, where you posted to tell the editor not to contribute text in Russian to English Wikipedia, but in fact the text in question was in Mongolian, not Russian. I assume this is one of the rare occasions when removing another editor's message is uncontroversial, but I thought it a matter of courtesy to tell you. Eleasha chew: Thanks for the AfD nom[edit]

I guess I had my first really bruising tangle with a particular anti-CSD-tagging admin vis-a-vis this article, and even after 20 solid months on WP I am scared for now to try to advocate for the encyclopedia on even the silliest of all possible new pages any more. Thank you for independently nominating this article. I'll be the first one to admit I need to "drop" the proverbial "stick" sometimes, but there were multiple aspects of this helping-our-adorbs-Harvard-classmate-play-princess overentitled little article that viscerally offended me, and that particular scathing dismissal of my concerns led to (silver lining) a really bruising three-mile run the other night (that unquestionably did me more good than harm and, so, yeah, all right, then). For the record, I am almost 45, a degreed and tenured professional, with monumentally bigger fish to fry in my life than anything voiced here, and so I will take a deep breath and silence myself now. Really I just wanted to let you know, gratefully, that I see and deeply appreciate your contributions here all the time. Thanks again. Julietdeltalima (talk) 22:22, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stevie "Keys" Roseman[edit]

Hello WikiDan, I am contacting you regarding the Stevie "Keys" Roseman page. I noticed that you had made some previous modifications and wondered if you could help expand this page. There are album credits and links missing as well as incorrect information and it would be terrific to see this updated.

The Journey "Captured" page lists Geoffrey Workman as the keyboardist on the track "The Party's Over ( Hoplessly In Love) under additional musicians which is an error. Stevie "Keys" Roseman was the actual keyboardist as is indicated by multiple sources including Wiki.

Missing Album credits on this page: VTR "Cinema" with Journey current Journey bassist Ross Valory and ex Journey guitarist George Tickner Neal Schon "Pirahnna Blues" Journey "The Essential Journey" (contains track "The Party's Over" (Hoplessly In Love) Journey "Time 3" (contains track "The Party's Over" (Hoplessly In Love) Journey "Greatest Hits Volume 2" (contains track "The Party's Over" (Hoplessly In Love)

There are also several published books such as "Don't Stop Believin" The Untold Story Of Journey" by author Neil Daniels which may be appropriate to include however I'm just not certain what the protocol is.

I could try to send you associated verifiable links however I don't know what I'm doing and anything you are able to help with is appreciated,

Thank you.

@Hihiimpal: Wikipedia doesn't work like that. Any Wikipedia article is not an "official" outlet for that article's subject. Rather, it is the result of the reliable material that has been published elsewhere that can be used to verify information about the subject. Your company and its artists have other "official" pages where they may say about themselves what they like; they may not use Wikipedia to attempt to promote themselves or to spread their "official" message that may differ from what reliable sources have to say. I note that you have already been temporarily blocked for this behavior. I hope that you learn the lesson and don't continue to try to own Wikipedia pages. @Indiatimesofficial: You are able to insert reference links. You have already done so here. It's just that the links you've inserted are pointless, as they link either to a page that has nothing to do with Shabir Parry, or to a page that doesn't exist. So if you can find links to pages that actually are about Parry, insert those links instead. If you can't find such links, then Parry probably isn't notable and the page should be deleted as tagged. Want to Remove some content from page[edit]

Dear Sir,

I am Suresh fromm IIFS Ind India. Our website is wwww.iifsind.org. We want to remove all references from our wiki page.

kindly allow us to edit the page information.

Thanks Suresh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iifsind (talkcontribs) 09:21, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Iifsind: First and foremost, understand that it is not your wiki page. It is a Wikipedia article about your organization. Your organization does not own the page, and has no more say over what the article contains than any other editor at Wikipedia. That being said, it would be inappropriate to remove all references from the article, as all articles at Wikipedia rely on their references for verification. Finally, it appears that you would like the references removed because at least one of them is critical of your organization. That's a shame, but we don't remove validly cited information or the valid citations themselves just because they are critical of an organization. In order to be neutral, we must present all sides of a topic. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:08, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

June 2016 Guild of Copy Editors Newsletter[edit]

Guild of Copy Editors June 2016 News

Hello everyone, welcome to the June 2016 GOCE newsletter. It's been a few months since we sent one out; we hope y'all haven't forgotten about the Guild! Your coordinators have been busy behind the scenes as usual, though real life has a habit of reducing our personal wiki-time. The May backlog reduction drive, the usual coordinating tasks and preparations for the June election are keeping us on our toes!

May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's record-setting backlog reduction drive. Of the 29 people who signed up, 16 copyedited at least one article, 197 copyedits were recorded on the drive page, and the copyedit backlog fell below 1,500 for the first time! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz will occur from 12 June through 18 June; the themes will be video games and Asian geography.

Coordinator elections: It's election time again; how quickly they seem to roll around! Nominations for the next tranche of Guild coordinators, who will serve a six-month term that begins at 00:01 UTC on 1 July and ends at 23:59 UTC on 31 December, opens at 00:01 UTC on 1 June and closes at 23:59 UTC on 15 June. Voting takes place between 00:01 UTC on 16 June and 23:59 UTC on 30 June. If you'd like to assist behind the scenes, please consider stepping forward; self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; remember it's your Guild, and it doesn't run itself!

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Miniapolis and Baffle gab1978.

Camp Walden[edit]

Referring to your previous comment concerning "irrelevant references", I have noticed that various other camps, approved by wikipedia, have famous people listed as their alumni, and the cited references do not mention the subject of the article (e.g. Camp Massad (Montreal) mentions William Shatner and Leonard Cohen as their alumni with links to their respective wiki pages but no mention of the camp). My understanding is that Wikipedia should keep their criteria universal, objective, and consistent, when evaluating.--Nvempala (talk) 13:19, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nvempala: Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. This guideline, in a nutshell, states that the existence of other bad articles at Wikipedia is not a good reason to keep this specific article. Wikipedia's verifiability guideline indicates that all facts in an article should be verifiable. This, of course, is an ideal, and many articles fall short of 100% verifiability. But a "notable alumni" section is often used by many organizations as a way to "puff up" their status. If the alumni can be verified to have attended the camp, that's one thing, but since there is no verification that any of these people actually attended the camp, the information should not be allowed to remain, whether or not the article on the camp itself remains. For now, I'll leave it for an admin to ascertain whether the article should be speedily deleted or not. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:00, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of edits to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy page[edit]

Hi WikiDan61,

I understand that you have undone my edits to this page. After the first time you undid my edits, I did delete some promotional sounding copy from the history section, but you have once again deleted all changes from my last several sessions. The school's mission, vision, history and athletic accomplishments are facts, not opinions. They are part of the school's charter and identity and are cited on the school's website.

If you do not agree with parts of the edits, please point out specifics that you do not agree with. In reversing all of my work from several days, you have also undone many, many factual updates such as the number of students, the school's address, notable alumni, athletic accomplishments/titles, the new head of school and much more. Again, these are all facts, not opinions. Please look at the content again and let me know what specific sections you believe to be "soapboxes." Thank you. SalyerMK5625 (talk) 18:12, 20 June 2016 (UTC)SalyerMK5625[reply]

@SalyerMK5625: Mission, vision and core values statements are to be avoided at Wikipedia (see WP:MISSION) as they are almost entirely self-promotional but provide little actual encyclopedic value to the article. As for the athletics section, only notable achievements (state championships or better) should be listed, as this page is not intended to substitute for the school's own website. Some of the history section that you added can be retained. I suggest a history section as follows:
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy was established 1957 as Holy Trinity Parish Day School. It began with six classrooms, an office, and 90 students, under the direction of founding Rector, The Reverend Alex Boyer.
In 2000, the school expanded from a Lower School on the Parish Campus to a 40 acre Upper School located on the Pineda Campus with a gymnasium, athletic stadium, chapel and auditorium. The first class of seniors graduated in 2003.
The Academy had eight National Merit Scholarship finalists in 2010, highest in the county and double the next closest school.<ref>{{Cite news | first=Florida Today staff | last= | title=29 Brevard students National Merit finalists | url=http://cramsession.flatoday.net/2010/03/21-brevard-students-named-as-national.html| work= | publisher=Florida Today | location=Melbourne, Florida | pages= 5B | date=19 March 2010 | id= | accessdate=}}</ref>
The only solid facts that have been undone are the number of students and the address of the lower school. Feel free to restore these edits. As for the rest, as you have a demonstrated conflict of interest regarding this topic, you should refrain from editing the article itself, but instead request edits on the article's talk page. your message[edit]

Your opinion of of giving undue weight is ludicrous and the fact that you state it was a single incident "clearly demonstrates your ignorance of the facts which you freely describe as murky", there are dozens of victims and scores of complicit state and county officials and numerous former county employees and officials speaking out and cited in post along with numerous articles from the local newspaper and television stations. Just because you do not like the nature of topic does not mean it should be left unspoken of, would you omit topics about Slavery or Auschwitz because you find it uncomfortable? furthermore, considering members of the community have been leaf letting, posting bills, engaging in public demonstrations and contacting the press along with public officials via mail, email and phone calls demanding justice its a very big part of warren county; moreover, its the largest scandal and/or cases to originate in warren county with implications that could ultimately force the county into bankruptcy. Your statement about axe to grind is off base as well, as a decent human being I find the entire thing appalling and inexcusable and support the movement for accountability and justice, however, nothing but that facts are listed and statements are from sources that were the county government during that era and reported in the press, therefore; keep deleting and it shall continue to be re-posted on a daily basis! A bit of advice; maybe you should learn what you are speaking out instead of making ignorant comments of which you know nothing, good day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by W.C. Justice (talkcontribs) 19:35, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@W.C. Justice: The sources that I've read talk of allegations and conspiracies, but little real facts. Wikipedia does not deal in allegations and conspiracies. Clearly, your community is angered about the incidents, and if the allegations prove true, rightfully so. But that does not make the incidents appropriate for the amount of coverage you wish to give it at the given article. Perhaps you would do better to draft an article about Sherriff Bullock himself (at Draft:Edward G. Bullock) and write about the incidents surrounding him there. Once you have created the draft and feel that it might be ready for publication, you can submit it for review through Wikipedia's Articles for Creation process. However, given your strong feelings on the matter, you might not be the best candidate to right the article. Don't get me wrong, strong feelings on the matter are appropriate if the allegations are true, but strong feelings never give rise to properly neutral articles. Guild of Copy Editors July 2016 News

Hello everyone, and welcome to the July 2016 GOCE newsletter.

June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 12 through 18 June; the themes were video games and Asian geography. Of the 18 editors who signed up, 11 removed 47 articles from the backlog. Barnstars and rollover totals are located here. Thanks to all editors who took part.

Coordinator elections: The second tranche of Guild coordinators for 2016, who will serve a six-month term until 23:59 UTC on 31 December, have been elected. Jonesey95 remains as your drama-free Lead Coordinator, and Corinne and Tdslk are your new assistant coordinators. For her long service to the Guild, Miniapolis has been enrolled in the GOCE Hall of Fame. Thanks to everyone who voted in the election; our next scheduled one occurs in December 2016. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

July Drive: Our month-long July Copy Editing Backlog Elimination Drive is now underway. Our aim is to remove articles tagged for copy-edit in April, May and June 2015, and to complete all requests on the GOCE Requests page from June 2016. The drive ends at 23:59 on 31 July 2016 (UTC).

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Corinne and Tdlsk.

I think you are missregarded, the page it's still in construction, only expecting to add media infos. Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EHGCMachadoMachado (talkcontribs) 16:32, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@EHGCMachadoMachado: That's fine. Even with the PROD tag, you'd have 7 days to provide citations. But as you have removed the PROD tag, I'll keep an eye on the development, and decide whether to take it to AFD or not. In general, individual university research projects such as this are deemed not notable (see WP:OUTCOMES) unless they have achieved some significant result. In this case, it does not appear that your project has yet reached the results stage. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:48, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please unblock the page[edit]

Hello Dan, the opinion of the page "University of Northern New Jesey" is biased, it doesn't show the objective fact of this issue. So we started edit-warring, edit-warring is not vandalism, it cannot be regarded as vandalism. Everybody is equal to give a objective piont of view, because Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia. So please unblock the page, I will try to talk with the opposite editor and give a relatively more objective discription. Thank you so much. Daniel199109 (talk) 20:55, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Daniel199109: Did you read the policy about edit warring? (See WP:Edit warring.) It is very much considered a form of disruptive editing and will cause the page to be protected and violators to be blocked. In any case, I cannot unprotect the page as I'm not an administrator. You can make your edit requests at Talk:University of Northern New Jersey, where they can be discussed. If you feel the article is biased, bring it up at the talk page. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:00, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dan, Edit-Warring is not vandalism, it is clearly claimed by Wiki Policy, "Edit warring is not vandalism", so it cannot be regarded as vandalism. The opinion I gave reflects the voice from victims, and I gave cites of it. You can't leave it blocked with the biased opinion and deprive others' right to fix it. That is not how Wikipedia should be, I will try to contact the opposite editor at first, so please unblock this page. Or please provide me with the administrator's contacts, thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniel199109 (talkcontribs) 21:28, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Daniel199109: Let me reiterate: I'm not an administrator. I can't unprotect the page. If you feel that the current contents of the page are inaccurate or biased, please make your case at Talk:University of Northern New Jersey. That's all you can do at this point.
