Sorry for the template ...[edit]

The article Charter College of Health and Massage Therapy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

School of uncertain notability; spam was deleted but it still has many issues, including zero references.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 23:32, 13 April 2010 (UTC) [reply]

I didn't create the page. I nominated it for speedy deletion. No need to prod warn me. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:18, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed you nominated Actin remodeling for speedy. A brand new user, User:Cvs6 removed the speedy template (and has made no edits since). I'm not entirely sure just what's going on there but I thought I would let you know if you wanted to take it to AfD or if you wanted to look into the possibility that the new user is a sockpuppet. --Non-Dropframe talk 22:02, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Port of Rotterdam[edit]

Yesterday i created a new page with corporate content of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Thats a totally different approach then the artcile 'Port of Rotterdam'. All my effort is gone and I kindly ask you to put it back please. If you look at the content it's not the same. I know it because I work at the Authority. You have said also that the article is merged with Port of Rotterdam article, but I dont see the content I created. Please explain! --Ketelbinkie 07:37, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

The content isn't gone -- it's still there in the page's history. You are free to revert my change. However, you should understand that, other than the factual content that the Port of Rotterdam Authority is a joint venture of the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Dutch State (a fact that I did merge into the Port of Rotterdam article), the rest of your article was highly promotional in tone. And since you admit that you work the Authority, you have a conflict of interest and should be careful to avoid any such promotion. Rather than recreate the Authority page, I suggest you edit the Port of Rotterdam page to add any non-promotional content you feel is necessary. Wikipedia tries to keep only one article on any single topic, so that all editors may concentrate on improving the single article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:59, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1. give me a chance 2. there is a context ... its related to the book written by raineval , a genealogist . hence the fact that i was linking from it

also , : who the F*@king hell , made you the arbitrater ... this is a voluntary endevaour . so BUTT OUT !

i am sick of you officious assholes, who try to delete entries .

i will start to erase every entry you make , and see how you like it .

Your article is a mess; it is impossible to tell from the text you have created what it is you are trying to write about. It's not clear if you are writing about a book, or a family, or a place or what. Since Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, article that do not provide enough context about their subject to help other editors collaborate are meaningless and pointless. If you would like time to clean up the article, you should do so in your own user space. Reading through your user talk page, I see that this suggestion has been made to you in the past. Please follow that suggestion. Further, if you continue to make threatening remarks on my or other users' talk pages, you will be reported to Wikipedia administration, and likely have your editing privileges suspended. 1. if you dont want threatening remarks, dont provoke me , you smart arse gobshite . - if you dont have the intelligence to give someone a chance to make an entry , dont expect me to waste my time discussing with you . i am on a learning curve , trying to learn how to use this system , and every time i submit an entry , wasting my time and effort , some moron prick , puts it for speedy deletion.

its up to me , how , i submit my article , you are abusing your position . honestly , if i am gognt o start deleting everything you submit , then see what your response is . it is totally ridiculous, and the fact taht i even have to spell this out , to make you aware of this , makes it apparent the type of austic cretin i am dealing with . back off . give people a chance you f$@king NAZI!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moutray2010 (talkcontribs) 15:33, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2. you have stillnot explained to me, what your justification was .. ie not notable . who are you to make that decision ?

you are using/ abusing the position , to use it in a frivioulous manner, adn am going to petition taht you are removed from editing priviledges , .

RfA[edit]

I undid the transclusion of this RfA, as it appears you haven't accepted any nomination or indeed made any comment whatsoever about it. It seemed supremely premature to launch an RfA without the knowledge of the candidate. If I am in error, please reverse my action - however, I strongly recommend more involvement on your part, such as answering Q1-3 and officially accepting the nomination. More Moutray[edit]

i dont know why i am wasting my time on this .

1. it is a charity , 2. it is voluntary .

eg i have added additional information re Seafield Tower , since (a.my Family Owned it b. its now a pile of rubble , so there is only one sentence , saying " it was abandoned in 1733" c. i had thougth , that i would be helpful and add a bit of additional information such as , yes , it is a pile of rubble , however teh significatnce , of it was , that it was part of the Moutray holdings , it was sold in 1618 , when they then moved to roscobie , and then was sold by archibishop law to melville . who then abandoned it .

i am interested in how/ when it was destroyed, as many people who walk past it with their dogs, may be, along the coastal path .

other than that , other family members, may be interested in it , hence, the reason i added the information .

you , however, have removed, the information i have put up , so that all it says is " it was abandoned in 1733:

how is that : a . helpful? b. constructive ?

i believe you are simply a deletionist , and am getting very worn out , and frustrated dealing with you .

if the world consisted of people like you where would we be , as you are not adding anything , but simply removing things, even after 5 mins , before giving anyone else the chance, to decide,

what do you propose about this , as i feel you are quote vexatious , and am going to have to get advice on how to deal with your behaviour . it is wasting my precious time , and yes i am adding relevant parts of my family history , as that is of historical , record, in teh national archives of scotland , england , ireland , and the national archives in washington , so i will continue to include the relevant informaiotn and who are you to stop me , —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moutray2010 (talkcontribs) 16:51, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the information you are adding is "part of the historical record", then please provide reliable sources for such information. The fact that "other family members" may be interested in your information does not make it notable. If you would like to publish information for your family members to read, you are free to launch your own family blog. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and tries to maintain certain standards. You have stated several times that you are new and trying to learn how things work here. I suggest that you begin by reading "Your first article", followed by "The Five Pillars". These will give you some valuable insight into what information is needed (and, perhaps more to the point, what information is not needed) to make an encyclopedia article. Haywards Heath[edit]

Sub-heading = the Broadway Group:(currently in history) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Charlesdrakew

I'm writng to you for two reasons: Firstly an item posted as headed above was deleted by Charlesdrakew yesterday without feedback. I find it difficult to understand the wiki hierarchy, possibly due to the limititations I have regarding some concepts as as Asperger. You helped last year to agree/straighten out the entry for the Haywards Heath Referendum Group which drake has also now deleted, and I've really worked hard to ensure that the entry for the Broadway Group is neutral/factual/relevant so basically is it me being unreasonable or have I simply run into a self appointed guardian of Sussex entries who will only approve his own entries? Is drakecharlew legit and if not, how do I complain formally to stop his behaviour? Any help you can provide really would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.--Jivebaby 16:12, 4 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jivebaby (talkcontribs)

First of all, one does not sign content on articles. Signatures are encouraged on talk page posts, but not on content added to actual articles. Secondly, one does not engage in discussions of article content within the article itself, as you did here. Such discussions are to take place on article talk pages. When Charlesdrakew (talk · contribs) reverted your additions about the Broadway Residents' Group, you should have engaged in a discussion at Talk:Haywards Heath rather than simply revert his edit. In this case, I'm inclined to agree with Charles that the Broadway Residents' Group is not a group worthy of encyclopedic note. They appear to be little more than a group of concerned citizens trying to get their local council's attention. Since they have received no press (at least no reliable sources were provided), the information you have provided is unverifiable, and thus not appropriate for Wikipedia. Marie Warder[edit]

I should have been more careful. In my haste to respond, I wrote in the wrong tense. I used'Bold text' to be her publicist. Now, having had three members of my family die of Hemochtomatosis (undiagnosed until too late) I support all her efforts in any way I can. Like Nancy Steinbeck I have become her unofficial PRO. I don't consider that a conflict of interest. I believe that she did indeed "make the world aware of HHC."

Murella (talk) 18:34, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of info and careless reading seems to be contributing to the proposed deletion of TOM WARDER[edit]

Inventions: If I had been permitted to post images of the Newsweek and Sunday Express articles, it would have been clear that the names of Tom and Selby Warder were included in the article. Then, about the article concerning the Incubator --- the point is that he saw possibilities in scrap iron - a strong character trait - and accompanied the sick kids during their flights.

Music Did your other critic notice that Tom Warder had a very popular and successful dance-band after the war? I can send him a link sothat he can hear it for himself.

Venturian 06:06, 26 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Venturian (talkcontribs)

Regarding the bottle cap opener, there was a direct quote from the Newsweek article, and it did not mention the brothers' names. The fact that you have now changed the text of the quote tells me that either the information was misquoted before, or it is misquoted now. Since I do not have access to a 1963 South Africa version of Newsweek, I had to rely on the quote provided. Regarding the incubator -- I do not argue that Mr Warder was a clever and compassionate man. That is laudable. But it is not notable, and notability and verifiability are the keys to inclusion of articles on Wikipedia. As for Mr Warder's musical career, some links verifying that would be very nice. And please, not links to blogs, or to record producers sites, or to personal reminiscences, but links (or even unlinked citations) to articles in independent reliable sources that verify that, not only did Mr. Warder have a musical career, but that it was significant. Phrases such as "considered one of the finest swing mandolin players of his time" require citations for verification. Since a search for "Tom Warder" and "swing mandolin" shows only self-published sources, I can't provide the needed reference, so you, as the author who made the claim, must. Finally, I should note that Graeme Bartlett (talk · contribs) has insisted on using your first name in discussions on Talk:Tom Warder, leading me to assume that you are, in fact, his widow. While I admire your devotion to your husband, Wikipedia is not a place to memorialize our loved ones. It is an encyclopedia, and the information it contains needs to be factual, neutral and verifiable. If you feel the need to post a memorial to your husband, there are any number of web hosts (many free) that will suit your needs. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:12, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I need your urgent help[edit]

Hello Sir,

I wish to add a new page under copy protection for CDs, DVDs and USBs section. However my page is being deleted stating that it is advertising. Since I am new to wikipedia, I am unaware how to do it. Please help me. Our website is http://www.esecurity4all.com

If I would have made mistakes in past while uploading it, then I am extremely sorry for it. I would be highly grateful to you if you can kindly correct them for me and show me a way to post some more detailed information about the unique anti piracy products available on http://www.esecurity4all.com

Esecurity4all.com is one of the leading company in world today which provides Non-Copyable CDs and DVDs and its unfortunate to not have any information about it on wikipedia. You can check the traffic rank for website on alexa.com also. Esecurity4all.com traffic rank is also amongst the top in all similar product providing companies.

Your valuable suggestions and help is appreciated. I am confident that you will surely have a look at the website http://www.esecurity4all.com and look into the matter urgently and help us at the earliest.

why my article is not accepted?[edit]

hello, I'm saedeh mottaghin and i wrote an article in wikipedia, it is a biography of a living person. it's about a professor, Dr.Mohammad Reza Marvi Mohajer,i studied all the standard terms about making an article. my references are reasonable enough. Dr.Mohajer wrote 3 books which are published and many articles in different languages he is not a novice professor with no awards. please consider this article again. i really don 't know how to find more reliable sources and satisfy wikipedia! please help me(Saedeh mottaghin (talk) 16:29, 30 May 2010 (UTC).)[reply]

Your references all verify that Dr. Mohajer has written books and articles, but they don't verify that these books and articles have had a noticeable impact on his field of study. Since Dr. Mohajer is a university professor, the guidelines of WP:Academic are relevant. Also, the article you have published is little more than Dr. Mohajer's resume. If you disagree with my assessment, you are free to add your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dr.Mohammad Reza Marvi Mohajer. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:46, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the page is to survive (which I don't believe it should, but you might convince me otherwise), you must provide details with cited references to indicate that Dr Mohajer is notable under Wikipedia guidelines for notability of academics. The article will need to be rewritten -- it should follow an outline along the lines of:
  • Lead -- Who is Dr Mohajer and briefly why should anyone care about him
  • Biography -- where he was born, and where he was educated, and any other facts about his early life that are relevant. For an academic, the fact that he played football at university or that he is a particularly good singer is irrelevant; only those facts that relate to his development as an expert in forestry should be included.
  • Academic activities -- a prose write up of the highlights of his academic career, generally listed in chronological order. It is not necessary to list every course he has ever taught, but a description of key contributions to the field of forestry, such as important papers he has written, or presentations he has given, and especially any awards he has received. A terse listing of dry facts such as you have provided is appropriate for a resume, but not for an encyclopedia article.
All of the facts listed in the article should include a reference to an independent source to verify the fact. (See WP:Citing sources for information on how to create such citations.) The professor's own website is not considered an independent source, and should not be used as a reference.
Finally, you should probably look at WP:WikiProject Biography for more information on how to create good biographies. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:05, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see your name on patrols and such, please have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ReVamp; somehow this article has no comments except for first-time commenters, and established editors like you are nowhere to be found. I don't think there's a chance in the world this band is notable right now; maybe I'm wrong, but I would at least like some "valid" votes at this AFD. Thanks. — Timneu22 · talk 19:26, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think your characterization of the contributors to this discussion as "first time commenters" is somewhat off the mark. Alpha Ursae Minoris (talk · contribs) has made over 3000 edits, and Fiftytwo thirty (talk · contribs) also has over 3000 edits. Beeblebrox (talk · contribs) is an admin with over 37,000 edits. I'm not sure how much more experience you'd want in that discussion. Since I, personally, know next to nothing about the current music scene in the Netherlands, sticking my head into that discussion would be meaningless. ARTICLE: TOM WARDER[edit]

I am moved to post my opinion after having read on Facebook that this article might be deleted and I wish to state that I am against your doing that.

Before setting up this account and logging in, I studied the situation very carefully, and I was surpised to find that opinions expressed by editors, even after having been discounted by others who, like myself, have gone through the talk pages, continue to crop up repeatedly. For instance the airy dismissal of Tom Warder's band...I belong to a generation of "groupies" who loved their music.

I also clicked onto a link on the main page (under the message about possible deletion) where it is stated that editors are available to make an article more "neutral." Well, why don't you guys do that? Why throw out the entire baby with the dishwater? As for being the "catalyst" for the establisment of the CHS society. Did you read the part about the "newly-diagnosed daughter"? I think I also saw, somewhere in "Talk' that it was her diagnosis that provided Marie with the knowledge about a genetic link, and having witnessed her huband's suffering that was real catalyst; on a smaller scale like the bombing of Pearl Harbour which made the Americans declare war.

I am about to post a link to the only available recording of Tom Warder's band.

Drommie (talk) 00:40, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As this article has been nominated for deletion, all remarks concerning its retention or deletion should be made at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tom Warder. However, as a new user who has created an account apparently for the sole purpose of commenting on this article, you should understand that single purpose accounts are generally discounted at AFD discussions. An AFD discussion is not a vote; it is a discussion among various editors about the merits of an article with respect to the existing Wikipedia policies and guidelines. How do I make Johnny Duhan notable? Would any of the following suffice?

  • youtube clips of his songs
  • links to albums on Amazon or elsewhere
  • links to his books on Amazan or elsewhere?

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by CDTi (talkcontribs) 20:25, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In a nutshell, you do not make Duhan notable; either he is or he isn't. The guidelines for notability for musicians is covered at WP:MUSIC. If Duhan does not meet any of the criteria listed there, then he is not considered notable. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:13, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grab some glory, and a barnstar[edit]

Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 15:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Volley[edit]

I have seen that you edited some volleyball articles. Some players articles, most of them looks outdated. I would like to improve players by country. Could you please choose a country to contribute with? Please take a look on Yekaterina Gamova, Hélia Souza, Serena Ortolani and Kenia Carcaces for a model to follow. Please can you please improve some volleyball players with infobox and some addons? References are very important. Let me know. Oscar987 22:11, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Why virtual access layer should not be a subsection in the network virtualization entry[edit]

Virtual access layer is a network (future) technology that addresses the unintended results of server and storage virtualization. It has more to do with how to architect the data center network in a virtualized environment, but is not the environment itself. VictoriaT (talk) 22:30, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Rusty Spoons : Requesting speedy deletion (CSD)[edit]

I appreciate that this article may upon fist appearance have appeared to have little to no value as a contribution to wikipedia. However, your criterion for placing the deletion request was based on the assumption that I was writing as an addition to existing information regarding spoons, as opposed to information regarding a cultural sign in a cult internet based cartoon series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salad_Fingers#Episode_1_-_Spoons

You may suggest that my contribution would be better placed within the Salad Fingers article, which I would accept as a cogent course of action. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CrimsonWoe (talkcontribs) 12:56, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that I couldn't read your mind from the information that had been posted, but since it made absolutely no reference to Salad Fingers, I really had no way of knowing. However, even with that knowledge, the article really has no point. The fact that a character in an internet comic series likes to touch rusty spoons hardly qualifies "rusty spoons" as an article topic. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:07, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Speedy deletions[edit]

As per the said exchange, I operate first and foremost by policies and guidelines, plus a dose of basic common sense. There is nothing here which indicates that all new articles created incrementally must be done in user space, and there is nothing which states that an article must meet inclusion guidelines within one minute of its existence. Until these requirements are cast in policy, I do not believe my editing style is to be faulted, and I see little need to change something I have been doing without trouble for over six years.--Huaiwei (talk) 15:38, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Said exchange, by the way, has been deleted by the nominator and I have since transferred it to Talk:Tabitha_Nauser.--Huaiwei (talk) 15:44, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wikipedia:Your first article:

Remember the article you create will be deleted quickly if it is not acceptable. Wikipedia has a new pages patrol division where people check your new articles shortly after you create them.

While this is not a policy, it is a guideline, and it should be followed. If you don't want your articles deleted summarily, create them in your user space. In the case of the article you created, not only did your first draft fail to indicate notability, the tagging editor's search failed to find any indications of notability. (Admittedly, that search was probably limited, but his actions were valid and in good faith.) You are free to continue editing as you have for years, but you do run the risk of having your new articles tagged for deletion if they contain nothing other than an infobox. My suggestion is just that, a suggestion; a way for you to avoid such problems in the future. Take it for what it's worth. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Was looking at your edit and removal of a part of this project called EPIQ, and from what I can see from their sites, the two are closely intertwined. The network houses the EPIQ project. Not sure if removal of it was warranted then. 38.112.100.2 (talk) 18:16, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see my last message on the "Virtual access layer" entry?[edit]

I was wondering if you had read the last message in response to your Speedy Deletion designation. Also, what other information would persuade you that this does not belong in the Network virtualization entry? VictoriaT (talk) 03:24, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently a different editor disagreed with my assessment and removed the {{db}} tag. Still, I don't see how your article covers a topic that isn't already covered at Network virtualization, specifically Virtual LAN. If the material is unique enough to merit its own article, the article needs to be referenced. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:19, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:05, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article about "Pugalur"[edit]

Hi,

Pugalur does not mean TNPL. TNPL is one of the company in pugalur. EID parry company also comes under punjai pugalur ,they can't say that its EID pugalur.Pugalur have two regions nanjai and punjai.Iam creating about that. TNPL comes in between Nanjai and punjai pugalur. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Malaiappasamy (talkcontribs) 14:44, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you have misunderstood my intentions. I understand fully that TNPL is but one company that exists at Pugalur. However, the article titled TNPL Pugalur appears to be about the town in general, rather than about the company. As such, the information at that article should be included in Pugalur. My contention is that the article TNPL Pugalur should not exist at all. Since this discussion relates to the merge proposal I have made, it should be discussed the link provided in the merge proposal box on the article, not here on my talk page. I will copy these posts to the appropriate page; please make all further comments regarding the topic there.

Pugalur[edit]

Just covering about TNPL pugalur is not enough.Have you covered about Thottakurichi,Kalakurichi these villages also comes under punjai pugalur.TNPL pugalur is separate town panchayat just cover about that alone under "TNPL pugalur".I will cover about Nanjai and Punjai areas in Pugalur. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.8.211.11 (talk) 04:50, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined on Leyland Bus[edit]

Hello. I'm a little puzzled by your speedy tag on this, which indicated that it was a recently created redirect. As the article isn't a redirect and wasn't when tagged, R3 speedy deletion cannot apply here. Or am I missing something? Thanks. --Michig (talk) 15:43, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That was a case of using Twinkle too fast. I had intended to tag Panther Cub as an unlikely redirect to Leyland Bus, but after checking the history of Panther cub and then clicking on the "article" tab to apply a CSD, Wikipedia brought me to the redirect target rather than the redirect page. My bad!! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:08, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that the above AfD, which you started, has been relisted due to some significant sourcing being done since you commented. Open Rails wiki entry[edit]

Hello,

I am new to creating an entry on Wikipedia. I am wondering how I can make my entry Open Rails, which you flagged, appropriate for Wikipedia. Thank you for your time.

Walter —Preceding unsigned comment added by Walterconklin (talkcontribs) 19:35, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The problem isn't that the content you have added is inappropriate, it is that the software you are writing about is not sufficiently notable. There doesn't seem to be any significant coverage of this software at reliable sources that are independent of the software producer. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:52, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HMS Empire Spearhead[edit]

Re this new article, give me a few days to sort it out. Mjroots (talk) 19:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking a look. The original was a God-awful mess. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, but if you come across ship articles that are a mess again, maybe it would be better to leave them and request assistance at WT:SHIPS. I've have a brief look on the 'net and it appears that there should be enough info to corroborate the original article's text, plus what is already on Wiki in connection with Force X. Mjroots (talk) 20:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at the article now. It still needs a little work which I have asked User:Benea to attend to, but is much better. It does appear that much of the original article was a copyvio, but I've completely rewritten it to address that problem, and expanded as much as I can. Mjroots (talk) 11:11, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You appear to have done a great job with the article. The original article appears to have been a transcription of the author's father's personal journal, full of trivial details about stopovers here and there that had nothing to do with the mission of the ship. Your version appears much more like an actual encyclopedia article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:46, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Open Rails[edit]

I added a few sources to the Open Rails entry. Does the inclusion of these sources now confirm the notability of the software?

Walter —Preceding unsigned comment added by Walterconklin (talkcontribs) 20:02, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, these links do not verify notability. The mention of a particular piece of software at a user forum does not imply notability. If the software had received any significant coverage in any of the number rail hobbyist publications, that would help. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Do you subscribe to those rail enthusiasts publications? I do and unfortunately they do not cater to train sim software. The software was released in December 2009. Based on the difficulty I am having with trying to add the entry, I would appreciate that you expedite the deletion of the entry. In the interim, I will try to drum up coverage for the software. Thank you for your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Walterconklin (talkcontribs) 20:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Random wikilinking[edit]

Any particular reason for this edit, creating a red-link where no link existed before? If Clement Finch had, or merited, an article, I could understand the change, but it doesn't seem that he will be written up any time soon. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:09, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if there is anything lacking in the Clement Finch article that I created a few minutes after you left your message. Before creating the article, I searched Wikipedia for articles that mentioned his name, and the edit I made to the Marie Warder article was deliberately made to create the red link. I clicked on that red link when creating the article based on obituaries published by The New York Times and other national newspapers. Alansohn (talk) 20:40, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, it all looks good. I had searched on Finch before, as I have been heavily involved in patrolling edits to the Marie Warder article, and I had not previously found indications of notability. Amazing what a man's death can do for his reputation. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:49, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the nominating Open Rails for deletion, I can see that you are one of those people who considers it of the utmost importance to make sure Wikipedia completely prudent in every way, shape and form.

I wish you well to achieve this through the continued practice of deleting photos, links, and entire paragraphs of text, and in this case, removing an entire article, for the fulfillment of the vision of Encyclopedic purification.

I trust that in this quest, that you do not mean for this to happen at the expense of other contributors (like newbies such as myself who don't know the ins and outs of wikipedia) by citing "Noteability" or Copyright information as a basis for deletion of a contributor's work and I hope that you do not intend for the work that you do on Wikipedia to be seen as questioning the beliefs of others.

--114.77.8.137 (talk) 02:54, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sarcasm noted. Wikipedia has a goal: to be an online encyclopedia. In striving to achieve that goal, it has set various policies and guidelines about what should and should not be included. Every hobbyists software project does not belong in the encyclopedia. In order to assure that fairness holds, Wikipedia has established some fairly clearcut guidelines as to what makes a subject acceptable for inclusion. This includes all of the criteria listed at Wikipedia:Notability. I'm sorry if you don't like these guidelines. You are free to open a discussion at Wikipedia Talk:Notability or at any other appropriate venue within Wikipedia to voice your concerns. Or, you are free to go to some other free web hosting service to try to promote this software. One of the comments made on User talk:Walterconklin was that the author was trying to use Wikipedia to "inform the Wikipedia community and others about the software". This sounds like a person trying to use Wikipedia to increase the visibility of their project, which falls outside of the guidelines for the proper use of the encyclopedia.
And yes, it does happen that some very well-meaning people come and put some effort into an article and it gets deleted. This is probably very frustrating. Those people would be less frustrated if they would read the guidelines before writing an article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:25, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frozen Ark 3O request[edit]

I saw your WP:3O request regarding Frozen Ark, but I'm not really sure the 3O process is well suited to handle a situation where one editor is unwilling to discuss his/her edits. You will probably need to look into other avenues for dispute resolution here. Also, I'd suggest you try to channel the discussion of this issue onto the (currently empty!) talk page for the article, rather than keeping it on your user talk page and/or the other editor's talk page. • Reply from alexm1313 ** Dear Wikipedia editors,

I am glad we can talk on this, sorry about previous non-communication, I am new and I am sorry if I offended you. Ok, I have taken your comments on board and I agree with some of them. I am a Scientist called Alex Marshall at the University of Nottingham, in the UK.
(1) What is your level of Scientific experience to be able to make some of your comments? As in who are you guys exactly? Are you scientists? If scientists, then you would have a full appreciation of just how important the Frozen Ark is.
(2) Credibility of the Frozen Ark: BBC news article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3928411.stm
If you aren't from england, this is pretty much the best for scientific news if it makes the BBC.
(3) I agree with removing the donation section, as I checked out the cancer research page, and they don't have it. Apologies for that.
(4) As for a conflict of interest, isn't it appropriate that I do write it? It seems wierd for me not to write it, as I know a lot about the project. I do not understand the problem with that. If this is an issue, I can find someone else who doesn't have a conflcit of interest to write about it instead.
(5) Regards to promotion: this isn't about promoting the frozen ark. It is just a really important scientific development in terms of saving the DNA (genetic material) from animals that are becoming extinct. This is essential for genetists, and if you are biologists, you would understand that. Professor Bryan Clarke is a top prize winning scientist whose project should be able to have a wikipedia entry for such an important development.
Best wishes,

Bill text[edit]

Fair enough, Dan. Thank you. I'm too new at Wikipedia at present to do the suggestions you give, but will keep them in mind. I did look for Wikipedia policies that addressed the issue, but couldn't find anything specific. So I decided that the bill was short and concise enough to include. (The Declaration of Independence is included after all.) My overall goal in this case was to get rid of the inaccurate/POV summaries that were there.--S. Rich 13:02, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Stalker on Wikipedia[edit]

the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahram_abdullah_zadeh has been correctly delted on July 12, 2010. Also at the same time the site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahram_Abdullah_Zadeh was deleted. Both sites have been created by a user dubaiguy1.

Now it appears again on 19 july 2010 created by a user Web2010 the same page under: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahram_Abdullah_Zadeh

By reviewing the user Web2010 history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Web2010

we saw, that he also created a page Al Fajer Properties. This page we saw was also deleted.

At the same time the user dubaiguy1 created a site Al Fajer Group. This user dubaiguy1 created before the sites Abdullah Shahram Zadeh, which have been deleted by Wikipedia.

It seems that this users are misusing Wikipedia to perform a Stalking Campaign against living persons – in concrete – against Shahram Zadeh.

Also please take attention to a reference which also appears in all article: the reference dubai9stars.blogspot.com

dubai9stars.blogspsot.com is a stalking campaign blog – also this blog is reported to Google as a faked and a spam blog. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.20.42.92 (talk) 22:08, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All negative unsourced biographical information appears to have been removed. The articles on Zadeh himself have been deleted, and the article on Al Fajer Properties now redirects to the article on Al Fajer Group. While Zadeh is mentioned there, the coverage appears to be fairly neutral, if not somewhat overly complimentary. There is a mention of the property scandal that occurred within Al Fajer Properties, cited to reliable sources. If you think more needs to be done, please let me know. Understand that I am not a Wikipedia administrator, so there's only so much I can do. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:06, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Al Fajer Group - Shahram Abdullah Zadeh[edit]

Hi, I wish to give you the information that the user Web2010 again placed today (23 July, 2010) the same Stalking article about shahram Abdullah Zadeh , now under " Terrorist front organition" link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Terrorist_front_organization&action=history

This after Wikipedia already deleted the sites " shahram Abdullah Zahdeh" , shahram abdullah Zadeh and shahram zadeh and al Fajer Properties. The site Al Fajer Group , link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Fajer_Group By reviewing the history it can be seen, that the user dubaiguy1 created this page, he also created the deleted Wikipedia pages Abdullah Shahram Zadeh, Shahram Zadeh. After the deletion by Wikipedia aof the site "shahram Abdullah Zadeh" the user Web2010 recreated this page ( Shahram Abdullah Zadeh) again 1 week later.

Also the reference links of the Stalking Blog dubai9stars.blogspot.com have been successfull deleted by Wikipedia and again and again reinstalled by both users before. The Blog dubai9stars.blogspot.com is still reported to Google as Stalking Blog and is monitored also by criminal invistigators from European countries. All people named in this Blog have filed criminal complaints against the assumed initiator of this Blog, the criminal Complaints are filed against Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Ma)ktoum The investigation against Mr. Maktoum in further criminal cases from several prosecutors in Europe are going on since mid 2009, fruther criminal complaints have been filed in June 2010. This information to you, just to give you an impression why now ( 1 year after the first Stalking campaign over dubai9stars.blogspot.com and a Wordpress Blog shahramabdullahzadeh.com appeard), this users start now again a massive Stalking campaing, now misusing Wikipedia for this acts.

I wish to inform you also, that those users take their own created Wikipedia articles relating to Shahram Zadeh, as reference, by spreading this Wikipedia article via Scribt, link:( http://www.scribd.com/doc/33437733/Shahram-Abdullah-Zadeh and other websites ! It can be seen as a Google Up Strategy as nedative press is in the pipeline, which will report about the criminal complaints against Mr. Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum. The reference " Gulf News" was also specially prepared for this Stalking campaign. To understand this you must know, that the owner Mr. Al Thayer of Gulfnews is the uncle of Mr. Maktoum Hasher - but who out there in the World know this.

I do not knwo how Wikipedia will handle this users who created this stalking campaign - however we will have monitored it and will forward the former revisons ( screenshots of the pages) to the relevant prosecutors.

PS:

-)

The revision I did yesterday was neccessary, because it was said on the Site !Al Fajer Group" that Maktoum Hasher founded in 1970 the company. Sorry, Maktoum was born in 1977 - so far this fact was wrong.

All references named are mostly bases on articles from the PR agency of Al Fajer and Maktoum Hasher, all brought to the public via open PR and not by any international press or serious journalists! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Equinox555 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

merwin hulbert[edit]

keserman here, thanks for your 2 cents worth, but just to let you know,i am not exactly a newcomer.but i mostly work,i guess,on larger articles, but creating stubs is a little less...beyond my normal experience.but i donot do much if any sophisticated editing, and mostly work with what i know, and only read on more sophisticated editing at times not much else is available to edit or such,or i get the rare mood to.but thanks for the support!Keserman (talk) 13:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

and might i ask, since you sound supportive of my efforts, how exactly to provide notability on page?Keserman (talk) 13:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the Wikipedia guidelines on notability, and then on verifiability. The first gives a general guideline as to what subjects are to be included in Wikipedia, and the second gives a general guideline on how to verify the information in Wikipedia. Basically, subjects must have been the topic of some significant coverage in some independent source (notability) and the sources in which this coverage occurred should be referenced so others can verify the information (verifiability). For the specific case of the company you are writing about, there must be some written history that mentions this company and their contributions to the culture of the American West. There should also be a source that mentions that the company has been revived. You should be able to reference these sources. Since, as you say, you are not exactly a newcomer here, you should have read these policies by now. As a side note, I would suggest that you might want to perform your edits offline in a word processor that includes a spelling and grammar checker, as you seem to be somewhat challenged in these areas. While there are any number of Wikipedia editors who will try to clean up poor writing, the best solution is to provide clear writing in the first place. reply....[edit]

actually, the truth is i am very good with spelling and grammar, but i can mess up on the computer typing, like forgetting to capitalize occaisionally, hitting the wrong key or 2 keys by mistake and such...well,i do get around to reading certain editing policies, but most of what i do does not require too much policy knowlege an such, and keeps me busy,so i do not get to read much often on this stuff.but i try to get to reading it.also, in messages i usually leave out capitals,to speed the process.but this is second try,so i guess i will move on...........cheers,Keserman (talk) 18:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bunt band image[edit]

The image was being used for a claim that it was the band's latest CD, but the description page also included a statement that it was an own work by the uploader. The second fact shows that the first is a blatant hoax, and thus G3 deleteable. Nyttend (talk) 14:18, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know that the user is not a member of the band? I know this is all academic; the article and the image were all destined for deletion anyway (the image for lack of proper copyright information and, without a linked article, no fair use rationale), but it seems that care should be taken to use the proper criteria to delete contributions. Lavina[edit]

I should note that my principal concern about LAVINA4194, even more than anything I explicitly said on their talk page, is that it's the third different username I've seen in the past few months doing exactly the same thing: poorly-referenced (or entirely unreferenced) articles about former Ohio state legislators, left uncategorized and with the references section (if present at all) headlined at = level rather than ==. And given that I've been working primarily on the uncategorized articles list lately, I've actually had to do comprehensive runs through all three usernames' contribution histories just to try to catch all their uncategorized work.

The first one, User:STATEHOUSE1839, actually got a 48-hour block in March for creating them entirely unreferenced, but then never contributed again under that user name; User:Gldnegls then started in June with the Google Books references, and then for no immediately apparent reason stopped contributing in July a few days before LAVINA4194 started. And both of the previous usernames had the categorization issue pointed out to them too — though I think you're the first to notice (or at least to point out) that the Google Books references are still problematic.

So clearly they're either all the same person, or they're different people working with the same flawed template...and while I haven't filed a formal checkuser request yet, I do know which of those two explanations passes Occam's razor. Bearcat (talk) 19:09, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ETTA[edit]

Hi WikiDan61, Thanks for pointing this out. I am not trying to display the wrong information. Information on the ETTA is very limited and that is why I've been given the task of documenting it. I'll ask the chairman[of the ETTA], as he should be able to give me some reliable information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robin.honey (talkcontribs) 14:24, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robin, I should point out that it is inappropriate for you to write about the ETTA as an assignment from that group's chairman. Wikipedia pages are to be created and developed by editors independent of the subject in order to assure a neutral point of view. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:35, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan. Sorry, I do not work for the ETTA, I have only contacted them for facts. I came up with the idea for documentation after discussion on an online forum on which I was given the task by the community, although I pretty much set it myself! I then approached the ETTA asking for sources of information, as there is none. They have since sent me records of tournament data they have and I am compiling the rest from online resources. Thankyou for pointing out these rules and I certainly don't intend to break any. I would definitely appreciate some help with editing it properly according to guidelines. Robin.honey (talk) 14:50, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, as an independent editor then, I would suggest (as I have at Talk:English Table Tennis Association) that the list of British Table Tennis title holders is not related to the ETTA, as the ETTA only appears to be about 2 years old, and all of these titles were won before their creation. GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up[edit]

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Stats
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the May 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, your word totals are cumulative for barnstars (not the leaderboard). Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars.

Visual Nudistics[edit]

WikiDan61,

I don't know what I did wrong? My article was deleted? I believe in truth and had always came to WIKI as a source of it. If I created a truth fall article and it's deleted, what am I to think of all other WIKI articles now? It just seems the internet these days is so orchestrated that real stuff/content, like the old days, can never get to the people. It's a shame, because the internet was meant to be for the people. I hate spam, and I have for over 15 years. Back in the old days we could say anything we wanting.... it's all censored now, including, my old faith fall, WIKI.

I was not spamming, not creating/sending false info, I tried to correct and make it more editorial. I want be part of WIKI and I do very deep research and that's not just internet research (I do the old call people up thing) There are many out there who will not and do not use the internet 'at all'. There's like this revolt against it, especially form the artist's perspective. I have theories about why but I’m still investigating it now. (I’m 71 and still doing this stuff, I should get a medal)

Regards BOB —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobbf (talkcontribs) 14:28, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your article on Visual Nudistics was deleted under Criterion G3 of Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion which calls for the immediate deletion of "blatant and obvious misinformation". I did not delete the article, but I did nominate it for deletion, because there is no indication that the term "visual nudistics" is in use anywhere but in your creation. Wikipedia is not a place to create new knowledge, but rather a place to document already existing (and verifiable) knowledge. So, if you want to make something up, go do it someplace else. ISNetworld[edit]

WikiDan61 - can you help me report some sock puppeting on ISNetworld's article? An IP keeps deleting relevent, factual information about the company's history - no clear reason why? I am new to editing, will look to you for guidance. Am looking to help on cloud computing and software companies within the WikiWorld. Thx. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MillinKilli (talkcontribs) 17:56, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree that the addition of information regarding funding from Ad-Venture is legitimate, this edit is not, as there is no documentation to indicate the funding's purpose was to "acquire the assets of Allen Tate" or that Charles Allen was forced out of the company. Please stick to the facts that can be verified. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fred kohler (author, inventor)[edit]

I do not know if I am doing everything correctly, but I have joined the discussion page on the proposed deletion. Here is a copy of what I wrote. Bosoxman.

Although I have enjoyed Wikipedia for sometime, this is my first article that I have attempted to add. The attempted deletion seems to be based on Kohler being non-notable. That his book "Evolution and Human Destiny" (1952) cannot 'prove' that he was the first person to put into print the concept of our human species becoming a superorganism. One cannot prove a negative. It is possible that sometime at a later date a reference will be discovered which contains an earlier reference by someone else. As of now, and it will probably always be true, he is the first person to put this major idea into print. The idea is currently a well respected idea and googling the term, which can be used as either one or two words, brings up over 300 references mostly all within the last 25 years. If this idea or concept is as important as I think it is, as the earliest reference, or at least the earliest know reference, it is important. It must have some importance because there has been an article in the wikipedia on it since 2003.

Point Two. There is no question that the polyswitch or resettable fuse is an important component of the modern industrial world. If it were not there would not be an article on the wikipedia about the polyswitch. There is also no question whatsoever that Mr. Fred Kohler patented the material that is the sine qua non of the polyswitch on March 29, 1966 patent # 3,243,753 and a google of the patent number lists over 30 references to Mr. Kohler as the inventor of this patent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bosoxman (talkcontribs) 19:47, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your comment at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Fred Kohler (author, inventor). Comments regarding deletion discussions should be made at the project page itself, not on the talk page.
