That's an issue with Google's caching of webpages. In this case, it cached a vandalized version of the article. they refresh their caches from time to time. Regent Palace Hotel

You deleted a page on the Regent Palace Hotel in London for the reason that some of the text was quoting another webpage, which was the hotel site. For info, the hotel is now closed, and it is likey that that website will be removed from the web. That being the case I request the page is reinstated to Wikipedia. Palm Civet

I noted that Palm-civetis a redirect( to Paradoxurus). Now on the Paradoxurus page all the species are listed in the form "Palm civet" (no hyphen). It seems sensible to me that there should be a similar redirect from Palm civet. However when I attempted to create such a redirect I saw that you had previously deleted Palm civet when it was a redirect to Civet.

Would you agree to my creating a redirect from Palm civet to Paradoxurus?

Comfort (definition)

Re your deletion, I'm not sure that it was correct per the reason you gave. I deleted Comfort definition because it was a duplicate of Comfort (definition), not because an AfD debate had called for its deletion. Your deletion of Comfort (definition) as a duplicate of a page that was deleted via AfD is therefore incorrect. The AfD debate is still live. In other words, the deletion may be correct, but the reason given is not.

That said, I did !vote delete at AfD, and do not see that the article will survive AfD. Even so, should the article be restored to allow the debate to run its full course. There would be no long term harm done by such a restoration, as the AfD would be over in less than a week. Other than that, should this be raised at WP:AN for discussion. The fossa is a cat-like, carnivorous mammal that is endemic to Madagascar. It is a member of the Eupleridae, a family of carnivorans closely related to the mongoose family. Its classification has been controversial because its physical traits resemble those of cats, yet other traits suggest a close relationship with viverrids. The fossa is the largest mammalian carnivore on the island of Madagascar and has been compared to a small cougar. Adults have a head-body length of 70–80 cm (28–31 in) and weigh between 5.5–8.6 kg (12–19 lb), with the males larger than the females. It has semi-retractable claws and flexible ankles that allow it to climb up and down trees head-first, and also support jumping from tree-to-tree. The fossa is unique within its family for the shape of its genitalia, which share traits with those of cats and hyenas. The species is widespread, although population densities are usually low. It is found solely in forested habitat, and actively hunts both day and night. Over 50% of its diet consists of lemurs, the endemic primates found on the island, though tenrecs, rodents, lizards, birds, and other animals are also documented as prey. The fossa is listed as "Vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The greatest threat to the species is habitat destruction. (more...)

Deletion of Dru Hepkins Page

I’m writing because we keep submitting a bio for Dru Hepkins and it keeps being deleted, we feel without research or fact checking. Everyone in his bio, the Grammy nominated DJ he has released 4 successful songs with to date, the DJ who picked Dru Hepkins’ hit House track “Red Light” as the “hot download pick” and his famous news reporter brother are all in wikepdia, but his page is deleted? Dru Hepkins is on several Dance label music compilations and has even appeared on Real Housewives of New York DJ-ing his original music to be aired in June. We understand that you need to shoot down a lot of fluff daily, but it may lead to a trigger happy deletion situation. Not everyone is a megastar household name, but some are signed artists and writers known in various circles with varying achievements and deserve their page. Regarding criteria, Dru Hepkins has the works: He’s a signed artists with House records played all over the world, has a locally famous brother, he was a state champion track star and the list can literally go on and on. Besides a Nobel Peace Prize what else would he need? This is a free online encyclopedia and there isn’t a customer service department. We don't know the proper protocol; we read the several varying situations and tried to do the most effective thing relative to the situation. The last thing we read that sounded like our situation was to contact the administrator who deleted the article-- so we tried that. Everett Coleman

The article keeps getting deleted. You are saying there is no proof that its a notable person. This is getting very frustrating as I feel you are not taking the time to really consider the article. It is plenty worthy because Everett is a professional gamer that is directly affiliated with multiple other professionals listed on Wikipedia. What is the problem here? How can you say that the article is not worthy? Its a biography of a professional gamer who is directly associated with other gamers that have Wikipedia pages. I noticed that a new page was created, after your deletion of Ignacio Valenti Lacroix. I'm at a loss as to how to locate the discussion that took place on Ignacio Valenti Lacroix. I don't know if the AfD discussions are difficult to search, or I am just a novice at it. I tried searching each day individually without avail. I haven't seen any of the prior versions, but I assume they didn't contain references, and I'm also assuming the people who nominated them for CSD didn't bother to check if references actually exist (as they obviously do). The article that I created had dozens of references from very reliable resources. So am I to understand that any article that has previously been deleted can be deleted in seconds by any admin, regardless of whether the article still meets the criteria that it was previously deleted under, and without the benefit of an WP:AfD review. If that is really the case, that's very scary. Could you please refer me to where that is included in the wiki rules? I asked UtherSRG very politely, without any verbal abuse, why he deleted one of my articles (see WU_LYF above), and I got exactly the same response. He said he was not interested in discussing it. Then when his deletion got overturned at DRV, he waited for a brand new user to delete all of the references then he nominated it AfD. Anyways, I think you might be right about the ctrl-shift-r sequence to clear your cache, but just in case, you can always press ctrl-shift-del, uncheck all the boxes except cache, then make sure that the amount of time to delete is set to 'everything' and then hit okay. I've read with dismay Wikipedia:AN/I#User:UtherSRG_refusing_to_get_the_point and the large number of comments on your talk page regarding many grossly inappropriate speedy deletions and requests for the same. Since polite requests to moderate your behavior haven't worked, I'm going to try a different approach: if you continue, I will open a request for comment on the use of administrative privileges. Should the problematic behavior continue following the RFC, I will bring the issue to the Arbitration Committee, and you will almost certainly be desysopped. Actually, there have. UtherSRG responded to the AN/I thread on 14:10, 9 May 2011[2], promising to improve his conduct. At 14:55, 9 May 2011, he frivolously nominated[3] the article WU LYF for deletion, after the references were vandalized[4], without bothering to restore them. In the AFD discussion, several editors opined for a "speedy keep" outcome. On 20:58, 9 May 2011, UtherSRG requested[5] the speedy deletion of How Do You Roll? under CSD A7, which was declined[6]. At 20:57, 9 May 2011, UtherSRG deleted[7] Alternative gender systems under CSD A10 (it clearly doesn't qualify.) When the article was recreated, he requested speedy deletion[8] under the same criteron at 21:58, 9 May 2011. The speedy deletion request was declined by another administrator [9]. On 21:16, 9 May 2011, UtherSRG requested the speedy deletion[10] of Colonial/Modern Gender System under CSD A10, again declined as obviously not meeting the criterion[11]. Then I would advise Chester Markel to read the ANI thread more closely - particularly, what future options were suggested and what UtherSRG was told - and avoid pouring fuel into the already growing flames. The ring-tailed lemur is a large strepsirrhine primate. It belongs to Lemuridae, one of five lemur families. It is omnivorous, diurnal and highly social, living in groups of up to 30 individuals. Communities are matriarchal, a trait common among lemurs. Like other lemurs, this species relies strongly on its sense of smell and marks its territory with scent glands. As one of the most vocal primates, the ring-tailed lemur utilizes numerous vocalizations such as alarm calls. Taxa and prefixes

Ah okay, I thought perhaps they had been neglected to be added as opposed to be intentionally omitted. Right now I'm not sure about the difference between major and minor taxa. Is this policy made uniform with some guidelines for the labelling scheme for all bio pages?

Also in regard to Homin, you mentioned the data is duplicated from another page: but which one? Whatever is best I was wondering if we could redirect it there. I'm not asserting that it's a word, rather a shared 5-letter 2-syllable prefix of several terms (both class and common reference). Do you know if it would be possible to retrieve the deleted content? I'd like to host it on my userspace as a reminder.

Part of the trouble is that when we go to these page's articles, not all the terms get listed, due to the level ommissions on the taxonomy template. The lowest, tribe Hominini omits superfamily Hominoidea at the top. Family Hominidae omits tribe Hominini at the bottom. Superfamily Hominoidea omits two. Sub-tribeHominina actually doesn't even show up on the higher levels, it only shows up on Homo, which itself omits the sub-family.

Actually with the data additions reverted, none of these pages seem to list all 5 of them together in sequence. Even though it can be approximated by skipping through the pages (which is how I figured it out) they don't seem to be collected together for easy viewing. The major taxa are Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. All the rest are minor taxa. So a species article may have minor taxa between species and genus, unless the taxon is monophyletic, in which case the article is about the species and the genus, so minor taxa between genus and family.

On Wikipedia, we do not create articles for non-words just because that combination of letters is used in multiple words. Wikipedia is not a dictionary.

The information you seek is in the Hominidae article. It has a section that clearly explains what you sought to explain in your article. I've ensured that all of the articles of the terms you find confusing have a hat note pointing to Hominidae. How many votes does it take to reach a consensus? On The Dark Knight (film), there were three people in support of moving it (four counting me), and two opposing it. There are no absolutes. We do not vote on moves (or other technical discussions) on Wikipedia. Strict counts are not required. It's an admin's job to get the feel of the discussion. In this case, since there were two previous move requests that also failed, I looked at the nature and balance of those discusssions as well. About Cosmopolis move

Well, I think it's not a controversial move. I was trying to Be Bold and move the page to the disambiguation, but I can't. Otherwise I would have done it. WP:Disambig is rather clear on this: 1) A topic is primary for a term, with respect to usage, if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term. 2) A topic is primary for a term, with respect to long-term significance, if it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term. The novel does not fulfill either of these two requirements to be a primary topic, especially compared to the 1892 novel and the Washington city. If you think it is controversial, why not move my request to the controversial move list instead of outright deleting it? Kreachure (talk) 02:48, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Olive baboon

Hi UtherSRG, I appreciate you offering your help. I'm trying not to screw up the olive baboon page but I'm obviously having a hard time figuring out how to edit it. I'm editing the page as an assignment for my Intro to Primate Studies course. I'm mostly not correcting any information already written just trying to add some more facts. I have tried reading the tutorials and using the sandbox but I still don't understand how to add references so they are in the correct spot, with a number, and following the same template as the other references on the page. I clicked on the refToolbar and it automatically cited it for me but it still didn't work correctly. I'm sorry to bother you with something as silly as editing help but I would really appreciate if you could explain what I should be doing instead. Yes, I've seen that. You and your classmates all seem to have the same problem with figuring out how to properly cite your sources.

The best way to do it is to like this: Fact I am adding.<ref name=cite>citation</ref>

Then when you add more info from the same reference, you do this: Second fact I'm adding.<ref name=cite/>

If it's not working for you, you can do this: Fact I am adding (Author, year).

And then down in the References section add: *Citation

Then someone like me will come along and clean it up so that it looks like the first format.

Another potion is to use your private sandbox, then invite another (more experienced) author to help you clean it up, then drop the new text into the article. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:46, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Passports of the European Union

You appear to have misread the move discussion at Talk:Passports of the European Union. Of the five users who commented:

• Three (including myself) expressed unqualified support for the move.

• One user said the word "common" should be removed from the proposed title but otherwise agreed with the move. He objected to the proposed name on the basis of unwieldiness but in reality the number of words in the current title and the proposed title are the same and the proposed title is only six characters longer than the existing one.

• One opposed. (he voted twice).

How much consensus do I really need for a simple page move?

Half-complete move

I notice you moved University of Trinity College but not University of St. Michael's College or Victoria University, Toronto. So where do we go from here? It seems to me that the talk page of one college was not the place to make this decision, but I'm reluctant to go over to the USMC article, unilaterally move it, and tell anyone watching it who objects "Oh, we've already established a consensus over at some other page." But of course it's either that or revert the Trinity move (since we can't pick and choose which federative universities we'll recognize as such and which not). Masonic Child ID programs move

Unfortunately, this is not uncontroversial, and I'm very concerned that an IP was allowed to make the request as his or her second edit without notification of anybody else, especially when it was moved over a redirect that was there for a reason. The program goes under several different names at present (most of which use "CHIP"), so the parenthetical "CHIP" is not to dab, but to clarify to the reader what it is precisely so that the article isn't moved all over the place. With all due respect, and I hope you won't consider my responding to your point as being inappropriate or contentious, there's no style guide at Wikipedia:WikiProject Websites .

However, as User:DeLarge himself ironically has pointed out, there is a de facto standard seen at Category:News websites, Category:Entertainment websites, and Category:American online magazines. At Category:American online magazines, in fact, Salon is one of only two (out of more than 50) with a .com suffix. Other disambigs terms are used.

It's very gracious of you to be flexible and to have an open mind. Offhand, on those category pages, I'm seeing only two others out of all them: HawaiiReporter.com, where most of its ELs say "Hawaii Reporter" and Bloginity.com, which says "Blognity" throughout. Also, two defunct sites, Peekvid.com and GetBack.com, for which news articles and/or corporate titles list as just Peekvid and GetBack.

Out of a couple hundred on those category pages, those look like about it.

(It appears as if Examiner.com and Cracked.com use .com as part of the formal title in their logos I also saw something called HappyNews.com, though, judging from its orphaned article, I'm not even sure it passes notability.)

Rudolf "Rudi" Skacel/Skácel move

Hey Uther, sorry to come on here and complain but I think there was a clear consensus on the RM to move it Rudi Skacel. There were five editors who said that it should be moved to Rudi Skacel but only two said Rudi Skácel. I was going to make a similar request, but Adam beat me to it; I would say that UE gives examples of Tchaikovsky and Chiang Kai-shek as examples where we don't use the litteral or correct version of the person's but only the most common in English sources. In the case of Skacel we know he does use this version of his name in some contexts because it's the one he chooses for his Twitter account, but I'm happy to discuss it further in an RFC. Thank you for showing me where you had written "but as was pointed out, 'Huelkenberg' would be the correct way to spell the name without the umlaut", which is making the assumption that there is a correct way to spell the name over an above the ousage in reliable English language sources. There is no reason why English language sources have to follow German spelling rules. What you have done here is apply your own rule set to an article title and not followed the Article Title policy and its guidelines, which as far as spelling is concerned follow the Verifiability policy. The decision to revert Vegaswikian's closure was in line with WP:BLP; the disputed spelling should not be restored until it has been demonstrated to comply with our policies. Several users have explained why "Nico Hulkenberg" is against policy, and no one has replied to those concerns or otherwise explained why this spelling would be acceptable in our project. The whole point of using reliable English language sources as specified in the Article naming policy is so that the article title reflects best usage in reliable English language sources. If you have a moment, could you help me deal with an edit by Maunus, who just restored an old "Etymology" section to the Orangutan article? I just promoted it to GA, and this section is extremely subpar, lacks references, and needs improved references. If it's going to stay, we'll also have to remove the etymology further down in the article. Unfortunately, I'm about to head out the door, and after nearly pulling my hair out over this review, I don't think I can take any more anyway. Excuse me, as I saw you are a moving administrator, can I ask you to move/rename the article 2012 insurgency in northern Mali to Tuareg rebellion (2012)? I know you have a back log of moving to do but hoped you can do this one. :) A discussion on the issue was started 10 days ago (thus going over the minimum of a week) and a support consensus for the move has been expressed by 14 editors based on WP:Verifiability and WP:COMMONNAME. Also, about your point that not every argument should be replied...I usually don't reply to every argument, however, user Lihaas was constantly attacking my reason behind the request, indicating I was going against Wikipedia policy and also made a few comments that violated WP:Civility, among them telling me I ramble, and was borderline accusing me of POV pushing. History of transport in China

This is regarding your recent move of this article. In moving the article, you left the remarks "This is consistent with other recent PRC -> China moves." I counted 4 opposes and 3 supports (including the nominator) in the discussion. While move requests are not a vote, and consensus can override numbers in the form of policy considerations, both the supports and opposes came up with substantive arguments, and no policy was implicated in the discussion. Rather, the disagreement was over the potential scope of the article and how to organize future articles. This being the case, I really don't see how "This is consistent with other recent PRC -> China moves" and how there was an indication of consensus (instead of "no consensus") to move the article. The China move was about common name; this discussion was never about common name, and the rationale given in the China move was never given there.

Can you elaborate? I see an argument for moving, but it's not there, so your decision to move it with the explanation you give leaves me scratching my head. My opinion on closing move discussions is that in general, when consensus is not readily apparent, it is best to leave at least a short explanation as to why there is consensus, as was done at Talk:Kinmen.--Jiang (talk) 06:52, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

I find ujjwal patni worthy and notable.pls guide me how to work on that.

please forgive my newbie-ness

I've just started working for a non-profit that needs some updates to its page. I got some info from +gwickwire in the help group (#wikipedia-en-help) about that it's better not to have the (understandably biased) founder of the non-profit make the changes, but rather to propose (?) them on the talk page for the organization.

+gwickwire gave me this link: http://enwp.org/Talk:Donor_sibling_registry When I went there, I got the message that you deleted this talk page (several years ago): 13:02, 25 October 2006 UtherSRG (talk | contribs) deleted page Talk:Donor sibling registry ({{prod}} > 5 days)

The instructions say to be in touch with you before re-establishing the page... So that's what I'm trying to do. Again, my apologies for not having any clue what I'm talking about. I've never done any wiki editing or administrating. I'm hopeful that you can let me know what my next step is. I'd love to be able to let my boss know what she can do when she finds an error on the page about her org, or wants to do things like update numbers of people served, etc.

Any advice/info you have is appreciated. (And per your request for profile feedback-- it's great! I'm also a closeted book store re-shelver...  ;)

Weapons of the Vietnam War

I am not sure where to post, so posting here. There is much misinformation and lack of proper information on the page Weapons of the Vietnam War. One example specifically is Weapons. The Swedish K sub machine gun was not only used by Navy SEALs but also Special Forces (Green Berets). ARVN were not armed with the Swedish K but M-l carbines. The entire article is full of errors and lacking information. I have not the time to edit and cite the page. I hope you are able to find a reliable source to clean up the page.

Please know I appreciate all the work everyone does for en.wikipedia.org. I use search Wikipedia frequently having found the vast majority of articles well written and accurate.

I see you deleted the Reelworld account under an A7, but we have several wiki pages referring to us and had claim to notability on the page. If we re-supply content that demonstrates a claim to notability, will you reinstate our page?

First, please create an account. It's simple and easy.

Second, you should not write about yourself or your own company. Read our conflict of interest policy.

However, it does seem like there may be notability now. Use the Article wizard to create a temporary new article. If you want, I can populate it with the last good version of the Reelworld article, after you create the temporary article.

Deletion of Ladell Parks

Back in 2011 you deleted a page called Ladell Parks due to him not being real, well he has now created some buzz around the internet He has started an YouTube page which has now have over 1 million views for his music he got to be on MTV.com and he is now an actor who has featured in movies as 17 again, 10 things I hate about you and he's in the new upcoming movie "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" Now is there anyway you can undelete him so I can create a sandbox or user page before making an official article on him so it doesn't get a speedy deletion. No, I will not undelete the page. That is not necessary.

• Read what is at the deleted page Ladell Parks. You will see first that I'm not the first nor last person to delete the page.
• Below the list of deletions, are some suggestions on what you can do. The first suggestion is what you want. I suggest either the second link on that line to create the article via our Article Wizard. It will guide you through some of the process of creating the article.
• If that's too cumbersome, use the third link on that line to request the article be created.

However, none of this guarantees that the article will not be deleted again. You should read our notability policies, so that you better understand why and what kind of documentation is required.
