Nuba peoples

Hello, It seems that I’ve made a mistake by editing the article of « Nuba peoples » without leaving a reason to why I have done that. I’m a writer myself, however, I’m new to the ‘editing Wikipedia world’ therefore, I wanted to try small changes and I’ve found the last part of the paragraph in the article quite controversial since it clearly mentions that most Nuba peoples speak a kordofanian language that belongs to the Niger-Congo language family and at the same time it says that they are considered part of the Nubian people in south Egypt-north Sudan, when the Nuba people actually live in Southern Sudan-South Sudan.

Thank you. Summer2000Kenan (talk) 11:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Sebastian Ntahuga. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:35, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Liz, thanks for passing by.
I appreciate your approaching and I am eager to learn, as you know great editors learn from different situations. However, can you help me understand. From its page history, (to me) it does not look I moved the page to any place. Is it the edit maybe or other? If so, I will not repeat the same mistake again in future. Warm regards---Tumbuka Arch (talk) 10:31, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
I think this was just accidental since I moved the article to a draft at Draft:Sebastian Ntahuga and you created a new article with the same name. Instead of creating the article from scratch, you should edit the draft. You can move the draft to the main space when ready, rather than creating a new page. If you need any assistance moving pages, let me know. Best, MarioGom (talk) 11:09, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
@MarioGom Did you know? I did not create that page as a new. I think I was adding info to the page whilst you were in the process of moving it (draftifying it). When I publised, it created a new page (since by that time you already moved the article to draft). Tumbuka Arch (talk) 12:03, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, maybe it was an edit conflict since we were doing it at the same time. MarioGom (talk) 12:20, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Vasil Avrami moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Vasil Avrami. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources related to the subject (there were two references, but they were apparently unrelated to the subject). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. MarioGom (talk) 14:42, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Hiqmet Delvina moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Hiqmet Delvina. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources (two previous references seemed to be unrelated to Hiqmet Delvina). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. MarioGom (talk) 14:44, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

I'll avoid posting too many template messages here, but note that I draftified the following articles for the same reasons: Draft:Josif Kedhi, Draft:Stavro Vinjau, Draft:Benedikt Blinishti, Draft:Milto Tutulani, Draft:Qerim Çelo, Draft:Koço Tasi. All of them had two sources, but as far as I can tell, these two sources were not related to the subject of the article. All content must be sourced, and each reference footnote must support the preceding text. Best, MarioGom (talk) 14:57, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Katelele Ching'oma moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Katelele Ching'oma, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Tumbuka Arch

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Umakant Bhalerao, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Paul Banda, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Umakant Bhalerao}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Thanks for your contributions to 2024 in French music. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and no content outside of the see also section. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 23:25, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on 2024 in European music requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. 2024 in European music moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, 2024 in European music, is not suitable as written to remain published. Luna MC moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Luna MC. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. JoeNMLC (talk) 15:47, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Notice

The article Christian Connections for International Health has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Google only turns up primary sources and press releases, same with Scholar. Fails the general notability guideline for inclusion in Wikipedia, as well as WP:NORG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Matrix(!) (a good person!)[Citation not needed at all; thank you very much] 16:06, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Christian Connections for International Health is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christian Connections for International Health until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Category names

Hey there! Thanks for adding some categories for Malawian women! I've noticed that you've made several categories that don't follow the standard naming convention. Such as Category:21st-century Malawian female singers, when the norm is to use "women" instead of female (and the category already existed as Category:21st-century Malawian women singers). I recommend looking at similar categories before making new ones. Mason (talk) 00:09, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Noted. Thanks. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 07:33, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi again, so when you make categories, please check if that's the proper naming convention , and also when you make categories, you need to add categories as well. For example, you just made Category:Spanish women of the 17th century, but the category already exists as Category:17th-century Spanish women. Also please note that it has several categories, in it, such as Category:17th-century Spanish people, Category:17th-century women by nationality, Category:Spanish women by century Mason (talk) 00:55, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. Will surely implement that. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 05:47, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Hey, regarding Rubens Mukindo, some countries' politicians do not automatically pass WP:NPOL, (see Wikipedia:NSUBPOL). This includes Angola and DR Congo. In this case they will have to meet the much higher standard of WP:GNG, which it doesn't right now with the sources mentioned in the article. You'll have to work to find sources that are reliable, independent, and talk about the subject in depth (2-3 paragraphs of 2-3 sentences each is the norm that I've seen some reviewers following). Cheers! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:33, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Jeez! Yeah, I see that. I guess I will have to work to each and every stub of such kind and add more info, as well as more reliable sources. Of course, I was already planning of expanding such stubs to make more picture. Most of them will look more likely like this or better. They are all on watchlist. Within a week or two they will be full articles. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 07:35, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Death and state funeral of Kwame Nkrumah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.webguinee.net/blogguinee/2016/03/the-death-of-kwame-nkrumah/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Broc (talk) 20:19, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

@Broc Hi, I appreciate your approach. The text is not copy and paste, it is modified but converging the same meaning. Being big does not mean it has entirely been copied. However, the quotes surely are direct as the sources. Kindly, delete what you see as copyright. I am eager to learn more for future use.-- Tumbuka Arch (talk) 20:31, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi, as you can see in the copyvio report, almost all of the text is copied. In this case, it's probably best to delete it and start over, but of course I will let an admin be the judge of it. For the future, when you write an article do the following: read the source, then write what you read in your own words. Please read Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing to learn more about how to correctly write an article without infringing copyright from your sources. Broc (talk) 20:39, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc It is how I do. But at the end they sound similar anyway. I will approach a sysop myself for help if whether the text should be suppressed, or entirely be deleted. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 20:43, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't want to make a big deal out of this, but the page Death and state funeral of Kamuzu Banda seems also a significant copyright violation, see copyvio report. Same for Malawi Network of AIDS Services (copyvio report). Broc (talk) 20:48, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Thanks for the tool. From now on I will have to draftify and test for copyvio before publishing. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 20:51, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Out of curiosity, what is the normal percentage of copyvio to be tolerated? Tumbuka Arch (talk) 20:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Some more pages I found:
For the moment, I will not do anything on these four pages. I would recommend you to rewrite the copied text in those articles, then request Wikipedia:Revision deletion of the revisions with the copyright violations. I can help you with that if needed, please let me know.
Regarding percentage: the tool only shows what percentage of text is exactly the same in the source and in the Wikipedia page, and this percentage can vary a lot (for example, if you quote a sentence, you will get a high percentage, but it's not a copyright violation, see Wikipedia:Quotations). Generally, if I see a complex sentence being the same on the original source and on the Wikipedia page, it looks a lot like copyvio to me. On the other hand, general sentences such as "X was the prime minister of Z from 2010 to 2015." would not be considered as copyright violations. Broc (talk) 20:59, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Finally, please note that even in draft space, copyright violations are not allowed. The best solution is not to rely on the tool, it is to avoid the copyright violation in the first place ;) But I agree, the tool is a good indicator. And if you find an issue, you can fix it and request WP:REVDEL later. Broc (talk) 21:01, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Because even some page that you created has even 90% copyrighted text. See this for this article. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:02, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
That is a website that copied from Wikipedia. See WP:DCV. Broc (talk) 21:03, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Thanks for helping on that. I will focus on improving for better. But I was asking what could be the normal percentage of copyvio to be tolerated? Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:03, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc I don't mean I will engage in copyvio but it looks like most pages have some little copyvio percentages. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
Again, there is no number. The percentage could be high if you are using quotations, or could be very low and still be a copyright violation if you copied a complex sentence. I would say below 10% I would usually not look deeper. Broc (talk) 21:07, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Thank you. I will avoid such problems in future. Thanking you for stopping by peacefully to sort this out. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:10, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
No worries. Please try to fix the issues in the four other pages I highlighted, I will check them again in a few days. If you need any help, please ping me. Broc (talk) 21:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Thanks alot! :) Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:19, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't want to sound harsh, but removal of speedy deletion tags is considered disruptive behavior. I restored the tag, an admin will judge it. Broc (talk) 21:30, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
@Broc Noted. Thanks. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 21:33, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Zwangendaba Jele, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. African politicians

Thanks you for all your hard work on Wikipedia. I noticed you have (among others) an interest in African politicians. Just to let you know, if you are looking for information or politicians to work on, the foreign “nds.wikipedia” has already articles of (almost) all former members of parliaments (see here) and senators (see here). Many of them with good sources. If you’re not interested in Belizean politicians; never mind! Enjoy editing! 109.38.152.165 (talk) 14:04, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

M1 road (Malawi)

Hello, thank you for your contributions on M1 road (Malawi). I looked over the article, and I noticed that it suffers from WP:Close paraphrasing. Even if it does not match the exact wording of the source, using nearly-identical phrasing and structure is still an issue of plagiarism and in some cases is even a copyright violation. It's important that you collect the information and write it entirely in your own words. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 22:13, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for work on filling Category:20th-century Democratic Republic of the Congo politicians! I recognize that each of the pages is likely to reach notability criteria because these are elected politician. However, they're all rather short. Do you think that there is much scope for expansion, or would readers be better served by consolidating the set you're working on into one (or a few) places? Perhaps one for each cabinet? Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Solace (Uncle Waffles EP), did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 01:54, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

@Dxneo This message you have dropped here is a result of just a hyperlink. The link points to the other article that you have mentioned in the article. Why is that an unconstructive?
I suggest you dig deep in Ownership of content. It states that ".. No one, no matter what, has the right to act as though they are the owner of a particular article (or any part of it)".
You act as though you own every article that you have created. For example here, you reverted this edit without checking the winnner and nominee results. This clearly shows that you don't trust other editors' edits.
No one is trying to hurt the articles nor are you.
So I suggest checking before performing some other actions, including automated ones. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 08:02, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Hello Tumbuka Arch, my apologies for stepping on your toe as I'm still learning. I do not know what "automated actions" are, please do enlighten me. The Nkosazana edit had an edit summary and your recent reverted edit was truly non-constructive as it led nowhere. dxneo (talk) 13:52, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
By the way, I did not create Nkosazana Daughter, thus I don't know what you mean by I act like I own "every" article I create. dxneo (talk) 14:35, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
@Dxneo automated actions (or semi-automated edits) are edits that you patrol through a software than manually scrolling through Recent Changes. The software provides different written warnings (or templates) that you can drop on affected user's talk page with a single click. Such softwares include the one you are using, RedWarn.
"as though you own" came as a result of reverting a hyperlink that is linking articles. Even if the redlink does not go anywhere, it is totally acceptable for the article to have a redlink provided that subject (redlink) also may have some sources online. This encourages editors to write about it.
On Nkosazana Daughter your revert was that because it was on your watchlist and that you did not bother looking on the web, but just by looking on edit summary alone.
Anyway, I don't want to make a big deal out of this. As the saying goes, where there are humans, there are mistakes.
Thanks.
Best :) -- Tumbuka Arch (talk) 18:05, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you mate, and it's funny cause those warnings are not automated on my side but yeah as the saying goes right I noticed you created MaWhoo, I'll review it just now, and next time please minimize source booming, hope to work with you in the future Thank you. dxneo (talk) 14:36, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Ways to improve MaWhoo

Hello, Tumbuka Arch,

Thank you for creating MaWhoo.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article is bomb-sourced with no clear prose. "Ngema has a sister", and "Her debut single is Umshado (Wedding/Marriage) featuring Heavy-K in Zulu language. The song talks about a girl who is finally ready to settle down after being in several different relationships" are trivia; not neutral nor encyclopedic. BLPs are very delicate and must be adequately sourced per WP:BLP.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Dxneo}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

MaWhoo moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to MaWhoo. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and it has too many problems to remain in mainspace, incubation in draftspace is adviced as BLPs are very delicate and must be adequately sourced per WP:BLP. Bomb-sourcing should be minimized for clarity, every statement must be sourced and unsourced claims must be removed.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. dxneo (talk) 15:51, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Category:Congolese economists

Thank you for setting up Category:Congolese economists, but it duplicates Category:Democratic Republic of the Congo economists which is less ambiguous, so it will be merged there. If you see this within the next 48 hours and disagree, please comment at WP:CFDS. – Fayenatic London 17:09, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Category:Members of the Confederation of Tribal Associations of Katanga

This one is also a duplicate. Please see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_March_24#Category:Members_of_the_Confederation_of_Tribal_Associations_of_Katanga.

It appears that it would be helpful to us all if you would kindly browse existing categories before creating new ones. – Fayenatic London 17:37, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Category:Ngoni Kingdom

Category:Ngoni Kingdom has only one like-named member and has been nominated for speedy merging at WP:CFDS. – Fayenatic London 22:23, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

@Fayenatic london Can you keep this one please without merging. I will create new articles into it. Thanks. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 08:12, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
No, but you will be welcome to re-create the category once there are sufficient articles to make it useful. – Fayenatic London 13:46, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Chiuta dangililani Malaŵi

Hello Tumbuka Arch,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Harrz, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Chiuta dangililani Malaŵi, for deletion, because there's already a page about that topic at Mlungu dalitsani Malaŵi. Please don't be discouraged; we appreciate your effort in creating new articles. To avoid this in the future, consider using the search function to find pages that already cover what you want to write about.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Harrz}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Greyzxq Easy. How about redirecting it to Mlungu dalitsani Malaŵi where the other language is being mentioned and written its rylics as the page has two languages in which the anthem was written. Tumbuka Arch (talk) 16:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Anne Kadammanja

Hello Tumbuka Arch, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Anne Kadammanja, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anne Kadammanja.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Vanderwaalforces}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
