A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Trouvessa, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. January 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:11, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is my personal page. I have created in the name of my company. May I know why is it blocked. Is that not allowed. I am new to Wikipedia and I am not sure why is it blocked. Please help Trouvessa (talk) 18:25, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a platform for the promotion of your company. Additionally, as explained in the block notice, usernames that represent a business are not allowed. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:39, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But I do see many other companies on Wikipedia, when I run a google search. Are they not promoted by the companies. If this is not permitted, then can I speak about my company as an individual. Please advise. I am new to wikipedia and I did not see anywhere while creating this account any guidelines that this was not permitted. Hence I am confused. Trouvessa (talk). 18:45, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May I please have my question addressed as above. Trouvessa (talk). 04:30, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May I know why am I not receiving a response on the question asked above? Appreciate it, if it is clarified. Thank you. Trouvessa (talk). 14:25, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadishScottishFinnishRadish - Please can you come back on my query above. It has been over 48 hours plus and I have not received any response or guidance to my query. On the contrary the page is just blocked. Appreciate your revert. Thank you. Trouvessa (talk). 12:26, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As is explained, in the link to the username policy above it is clear that usernames that represent a business are not allowed. Additionally your only edits were to promote your business, and the attempted article made no claims of notability. I suggest you read some of the policies linked in the messages above, and fully read the block notice, which outlines how to request an unblock, and what you must do to have a chance at an unblock. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:44, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadish Thank you for coming back. Now I understand. As this is my first time, I would like to change the username and rewrite the article as it was not intended for commercial or promotional purposes. My intention is to focus on Fashion and Fragrance industry and talk about it. After reading the above, I presume that is permitted. I am making a request to unblock by changing the username. Please also guide me if I am still missing something. Thank you.
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I would like to make contributions to fashion and fragrance articles Trouvessa (talk). 13:28, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Those topic areas fall squarely within your conflict of interest, so you won't be unblocked to, in the near term, edit in those areas. We're going to need to see a good edit history of edits in other areas, demonstrating your knowledge of relevant Wikipedia policies first. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 14:31, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot @ScottishFinnishRadish- May I know what you mean by squarely within your conflict of interest? I am not sure I understood you well. Secondly if I am not allowed to contribute in those areas, then which areas of editing are you referring here. If the administrators do not wish to unblock the page, then please let me know how to delete my user details and the page completely from wikipedia as I personally do not see this going anywhere at this rate. My intention when I created the account in wikipedia was to make a contribution and not get into a controversy. Thank you. Trouvessa (talk). 03:12, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your company is a fragrance company. This means that fragrance in general is part of your conflict of interest. You won't be unblocked to, at this time, edit about anything for which you have a conflict of interest. That limitation would not be permanent, but we will need to see a good edit history of editing in other, unrelated areas before permitting you to indirectly contribute about subjects for which you have a conflict of interest. Those subjects could be anything other than the field of fragrances or your company- Joe Biden, math, science, the history of your country, anything else.
It is not possible to delete an account, for technical and legal reasons(all edits must be attributable to someone). You are free to stop using and abandon your account. Note that if you change your mind later, you will need to request unblock under this account as the block is on you personally, not just this account. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot - Thank you for coming back. Ok. I understand now. But when you say edit in other fields, how do I go about finding this? Does something get assigned to my page? My understanding all this while when I created the talk page was we had to write and edit our article or it would get edited by someone else. When I created the account, the first notification that came was to write an article and edit it in the sandbox and talk page. It never said anything else. Hence I chose to write about my company than anything else. I never anticipated so much of complications. Secondly in the case I need to edit other pages, can I have a change of username to what I have suggested above? As I said my intention was to contribute and not get into a controversy. My understanding of Wikipedia was much different before than after creating an account. Also I would be happy if someone can edit my article too at some point in time. Thank you. Trouvessa (talk). 14:36, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing will be "assigned" to you; You may choose to edit about any topic that interests you in some way. This doesn't mean you have to write a new article about it; you could just expand existing articles. If you just want to help out wherever is needed, the Community Portal is a good place to see what needs work. 331dot (talk) 16:33, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
