Nomination of National Stupid Day for deletion

Assassination and Lincoln Fitzgerald

Hi, I looked further and you are probably right about murder. I saw the headline in the Reno Gazette called at an assasination attempt but that is possibly a sensationalized heading. He was a semi-public figure so I imagine it could be called an assassination. But we never discovered the identity of the shooter or a motive so perhaps just a murder attempt or? Thank you Leeky. @Bruxton: yeah, that looks like some after-the-fact headlining, so i probably wouldn't put too much stock in it :) 'assassination' isn't the worst descriptor, but i think plain 'murder' works better. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 23:50, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.

Arbitration

Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.

I'm sorry to to write a message like this, very rude of me – i'm involved in discussions with both of you over DYK nominations, and while I would be happy to discuss at a later date, I'm sure both of you want to get your nominations promoted as soon as possible and I don't think I'll be able to focus the necessary time and energy towards that this week, what with finals and all. So, tell you what: if either of you find a reviewer who'll say that I'm wrong or that the concerns have been resolved, and there's no other issues, consider my objections withdrawn. DYK issues awaiting your consideration

Theleekycauldron, it looks like the following nominations are awaiting a response from you or some other form of action:

Template:Did you know nominations/Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer: you pulled this one and asked for responses from three folks; two have responded, and the third didn't participate in the nomination (promoter, maybe?). This is currently the oldest DYK nomination by several weeks, so it would be great to get it moving again.
Template:Did you know nominations/Sealord Group: after your last request, which superseded a tick, some changes were made. Are they enough? Please post where this stands.
