Favour[edit]

You've come to the right man—I'm an English teacher (though I suspect you already knew that).

I've read over it, and I'll take a closer look tonight. I'll hide all of my suggestions, so all you have to do is click on "show changes" on the page history. That will highlight them, and you can follow up on anything you think is worthwhile, and disregard anything that doesn't work for you. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 01:45, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've gone through and added my thoughts, and corrected the odd spelling error. There were no serious grammar issues; just a few things that might warrant expanding upon, but it was a sustained, logical and coherent piece of writing. It might need a little polish (rearranging the word order to better articulate an idea), but I asked my students to write an essay detailing a subject of their choice and one of them chose the CLK, this is probably what I'd expect them to produce. Re:Autocourse 1999[edit]

Hi The359. I do have a copy, but it's at my parents' house and I'm afraid I won't have access to it until Christmas-time. It does have a Le Mans report but I can't remember any of the details.

However, I do have a copy of Le Mans: 1990-99 by Quentin Spurring with me, so when I've got some time this weekend I can take a look at it for you. Your draft article seems to be very comprehensive already, but I can check the details and see if there's anything else that can be added.—Midgrid(talk) 09:22, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK then, as I've said before, I think you've covered the important areas already, but I'll go through your sandbox now to look for any further details or discrepancies. The citation is:
Spurring, Quentin (2014). "1999: High fives in Germany". Le Mans 1990-99: The official history of the world's greatest motor race. Sherborne, Dorset: Evro Publishing. p. 384. ISBN 978-0-9928209-1-6.
Background - all fine.
Development
  • It might be worth restating the minimum weight (900 kg) where you mention the reduction. The book emphasises that one of the reasons for building a completely new car was so it could be designed to the new limit (p. 344).
  • The engine had 32 valves and produced 600 bhp at 7,000 rpm (p. 344).
  • The lower half of the monocoque was unchanged from the CLK GTR, but the top half was redesigned due to a new homologation rule that required a load test to be carried out on the complete cockpit section, not just the rollcage in isolation (p. 344).
  • The book also mentions a "flatter nose" as one of the aesthetic changes (p. 344).
  • It had a shorter wheelbase then any of its GTP class rivals, with longer front and rear overhangs. It was the same overall length as the CLK GTR (p. 345)
  • Aerodynamic testing was carried out in the University of Stuttgart's wind tunnel, with Fondmetal acting as a consultant (p. 345).
  • The cars also tested on the road course of the Homestead-Miami Speedway (p. 345).
1999 season - all fine.
Le Mans
Practice and qualifying
  • The cars completed almost 30,000 miles in total testing mileage before Le Mans, the only serious problem occurring when a front suspension link pulled out of the monocoque in Prequalifying for Le Mans (p. 345).
  • Contrary to what you have written already (groan), the book states that Webber's monocoque was not damaged in its qualifying crash, and was used again for the warmup (in which it crashed again) and the race. It also gives a different description of the accident: "[...]the CLR lifted clear of the ground. Then it tipped over a right angles to the track surface, landed on its right side, bounced back onto its wheels, and slammed into the barrier." (p. 345)
Warmup - all fine
Race
  • Some more detail - Dumbreck made light contact with Marcel Monteiro's GT2 Porsche at the Virage Ford on his third lap (p. 346).
  • The trackside area in which Dumbreck's car landed had been cleared of trees a fortnight before the race (p. 346).
  • Again contrary to your existing sources, the book states that "Dumbreck—dazed, bruised, but otherwise undamaged—got himself out of the wreck" (p. 346).
  • Lagorce was running in fourth place when he was called in to withdraw at 8:45 am; Schneider had led the race in the early stages after the first fuel stops (p. 346).
Aftermath
  • The FIA also instructed its Advisory Expert Group, chaired by Sid Watkins, to devise new technical regulations to prevent cars from becoming airborne under similar circumstances in the future (p. 346).
  • Editorial: "The fact remained that only AMG Mercedes had got it wrong. The team itself pulled the flawed CLRs from a planned ALMS campaign." (p. 346)
I hope this is useful - please let me know if you require further information or clarification.—Midgrid(talk) 19:58, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately the car which suffered the suspension failure in the prequalifying session is unspecified.—Midgrid(talk) 21:42, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring october 2014[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2015 Formula One season. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Tvx1 (talk) 15:32, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Right Edit.[edit]

I have made a mistake in editing the page Audi R18. I know that I downloaded the picture(that you reverted), and went to the correct selection, but I just was confused and didn't know what to do, so I put it in the incorrect one(I was a new user to Wikipedia that time). I just wanted to update the picture of the racecar I loved. But what you did there was right. I respect you decision to put it in the speedy deletion. I could have got into more trouble if you didn't do that. Thanks to you, I quickly found out how to upload it and do the right thing. If you look at the page again and see the pictures I updated, It was because of my mistake and your move. Thanks to you, ALOT!

(PS: If you notice, I used other terms for words so that I won't look like a loser her.)

Images copyright[edit]

Morning, those two images of Hotel de France were taken by Noel Pasteau, the previous owner of Hotel de France and were given to the new owner when it was sold at the end of 2013. I will have the hotel amend the statement on the history page to reflect that those two images can be used on the Wikipages.

I must admit to be being somewhat confused by how to tag the copyright on these two images, how should the license be amended. As you might surmise, I work in the sport and obviously know DB, Tony Brooks, Stirling and the hotel owner.

In terms of the podium image of DB in 1995 with Justin, will this suffice? http://www.derekbell.com/photo/derek-justin-bell-and-andy-wallace-1995-le-mans

The other DB images are ones I have taken of him at events he has attended, including a press junket for Bentley in Moscow last year as well as the one at Le Mans in 2012 in appalling weather when he raced the Kenwood 962. Ditto the AA presentation at Goodwood, which I put together with the AA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Felix7black7 (talkcontribs) 11:39, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for Your answer, I really admire your contributions on en.wikipedia (in particular whole FIA GT Championship Standings for esch season). Regarding our discussion, I think creating that page is something that can be considered a primary task. I rememner to you tha Group GT1 has existed for 18 years (1994 - 2011): it's incredible that we can't find an English page about it on wiki, so I think that using that framework from de.wiki could be better than nothing! P.S. do you know if I can transfer this template to en.wikipedia? MC12GT1 (talk) 21:58, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this userright to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. PhilKnight (talk) 20:23, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles[edit]

There has not been any moving of articles in a week now, so please do not change it all back. And please before changes everything again, the discussion can be found here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Motorsport. Vettelisthebest (talk) 4:50, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Can you give me one or two examples of pages that have been moved in the last week, because I've literally seen none, but to be fair I've almost only watched 2015 and 2016 pages. Vettelisthebest (talk) 4:59, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I admit it will be lots and lots of work to move all the pages, but I think "clearing the backlog a bit with some smaller past series" is very little progress for a week. With that pace it will take years. And also I would take into consideration that two users support to remove the word "season", because they find it awkward and peculiar and three users support that it stays the way it is with the good reason that "Series/Championship/Cup" is part of the series name. It looks like it is taste versus facts and Wikipedia should be all about facts. Vettelisthebest (talk) 5:22, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Nobody said something in the discussion for a week and there are more supporters for the word "season" behind "Series/Championship/Cup" then supporters for the word "season" to be removed. Because nobody said anything for a week, I thought everybody said what they wanted to say, so I made the decision to change it back the way it was (because there are more supporters for the word "season" behind "Series/Championship/Cup"). Should I have waited longer for somebody to say more? Vettelisthebest (talk) 5:34, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Le Mans Historical Race Data[edit]

Hello -

I am putting together a report on historical Le Mans race data and manually copy/paste/edit each of year data currently. Although I have completed 22 in this fashion, I do not think I will be able to do this for all 83. Do you have access to this data and if so could you send me an excel export all all 83 years? I will make sure to cite my source, and this would be extremely helpful for my analysis.

Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans Desired Data: Table titled "Official Results"

Thanks 12.19.196.130 (talk) 17:18, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. There was no raw source data for these tables, everything on them was individually typed out by myself when the articles were created. I simply filled in the data tables with the official race results, which were gathered from various sources, specifically F2 Register, World Sports Racing Prototypes, and Racing Sports Cars. FYI[edit]

Hello T. Long (long long) time no see. I hope that you are well and enjoying the "24 hours" today. I recently saw the documentary Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans and thought of you while I was watching it. Interesting interviews and even more interesting unseen footage from the film and that years race. I suspect that you've already seen it but thought I would mention it on the off chance that you haven't. On another note this F1 race at Baku is a unique track isn't it? I am deep into yet another 24 hours today, although I haven't really had much chance (or really much interest) in checking in on Baku today, although I did see an onboard video from the medical car that makes me somewhat question the quirkiness of the track. And yes, HD is a beautiful thing, I'm somewhat bouncing between internet streaming and television broadcasts. I'm aware of the McQueen documentary but I haven't had a chance to see it yet, although it's certainly on my list of things to do. The359 (Talk) 17:38, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rounds column[edit]

If you feeling that this column has any purpose. Why are you not adding this column in 2017 Formula One season article then? Adding the columns that consists only from TBAs is provoking anonymous editors to adding unreferenced information and speculations. When I created articles with the TBA columns it happened all the time. Corvus tristis (talk) 18:40, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Corvus tristis: Because there is no reason to add or remove something that has already been established. 2017 Formula One season, 2017 GP2 Series, and 2017 GP3 Series do not have rounds listed, but 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship, 2017 World Touring Car Championship, and 2017-18 Formula E season do. This is trivial additional or removal that will be sorted out in a few months.
TBAs no more encourage anonymous editors than having the sections filled with correct information. 2017 Formula One season still gets filled with vandalism and unreferenced information, to use your example. I'd also point out that the very charts you are chopping up were more than likely originally created by anonymous editors without referencing, and were fixed afterwards, meaning that TBAs didn't even exist and it didn't stop anything. The359 (Talk) 18:50, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stop.[edit]

If you disagree with my changes, let's discuss them. Don't fucking blind revert my shit ever again. It's childish and not productive. I haven't seen you contribute a god damn thing to thi article, you do NOT decide how it's written. Wicka wicka (talk) 15:34, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

" The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance." From WP:INFOBOX. Knock it off, you're behaving like a baby. Wicka wicka (talk) 15:47, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Wicka wicka: - Your edits will be reverted, always, when your edits are incorrect, wrong, or unnecessary, no matter how you like or do not like it. You also do not decide how the article is or is not written, regardless of how much or how little you, or anyone else. Further, I don't recall seeing you ever this article prior to today. It's been on my watchlist since I made my first edits to this article. In 2007.
And per WP:INFOBOX, "to summarize (and not supplant) key facts that appear in the article (an article should remain complete with its summary infobox ignored)" means that article can be present both in the infobox and in the article. The359 (Talk) 15:57, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"wherever possible, present information in short form, and exclude any unnecessary content." You are objectively wrong, per the article you think supports you. Stop vandalizing the article. This is your last warning. Wicka wicka (talk) 15:58, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, you are a shameful and despicable person. Your behavior is shocking. I've encountered you in the F1 articles; you pull the same shit there. More often than not you are nothing more than a hindrance to people who are actually trying to IMPROVE things. You will NOT win. You will NOT succeed in making these articles worse just because you don't like being wrong. Wicka wicka (talk) 15:59, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Wicka wicka: No explanation of why the "former name" parameter, which exists on the template for a reason, is somehow "unncessary content" in this instance. By your logic, the parameter should not exist on the template.
I see absolutely no improvement to the article by someone who did not bother to correctly read Template:Infobox motor race to understand the parameters, and seems to be arguing that the parameter that has existed on that template is "unncessary content". Your improvement thus far has been to remove something. What exactly is the improvement by removing this information?
You are also in no position to threaten, warn, or accuse. Especially when they are baseless accusations that assume bad faith. The359 (Talk) 16:08, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2016 Formula One season (the 67th to be held?)[edit]

Hi,

The 2013 Formula One season Wikipedia page shows it as the 64th season to be held. The 2014 season is shown as the 68th, 2015 the 69th, 2016 the 70th and 2017 to be the 71st. Where can I find details of the 65th, 66th and 67th season that occurred between 2013 and 2014?

Question[edit]

Hello The359. I hope that you are enjoying the beginning of the race. Thanks for this edit. One thing came to mind as I read the sentence. I thought that the switch to 3 pm happened in 2008. It sticks in my memory that the move came to avoid a conflict with a match that France was playing in that years World Cup. Of course the old memory banks have accumulated a lot of dust over the years so I thought I would check to see if you have any info about this. Best regards. CLK LM engine specs[edit]

You are talking about street cars (6L)
CLK LM uses 5L version of M119(M119 HL) from the Sauber C9/C11 but with no engine capacity increment, instead, they dropped turbos and used different heads and strengthened other components to let it rev higher, eventually designated as GT108B — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.136.145.1 (talk) 04:05, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The M119 was expanded to 6.0 liters for the CLK LM. Per Mercedes-Benz, the V8 in the CLK LM and later CLR is six liters, and is based on the previous five liter used in the 1980s. The 1998 Le Mans entry list also quotes the CLK LM as "6000A", a 6000cc atmospheric motor. The359 (Talk) 04:42, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
uve been misguided by that list, if you see the qualifying results it showed 4989cc. Also the cover you had was updated to May 15 1998, there is also a website showed updated to May 28th. If this still doesnt prove anything, CLK LM's photo, the official results and car information still shows 4989cc, even Daimler official indicates it is a 5-liter V8, and CLR: six liters? everybody knows its 5.7. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.136.145.199 (talk) 17:49, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2017 World Endurance Championship - GT Manufacturers[edit]

Hi The359,

I notice a correction to the GT Manufacturers' Championship table on the 2017 World Endurance Championship page.

My problem with this is that there are now three retirements for Porsche, when in fact they scored points with the GTE AM cars. The regulations state that the top two cars for each manufacturer score points, so even if a factory car retires, they can still earn points from a customer car.

Do let me know your thoughts.

The article Jaguar XJR sportscars has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No independent reliable sources for ten years. Fails WP:V. No references, no article. This original research was a lot of work. But it's not fit for an encyclopedia.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rhadow (talk) 15:15, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Jaguar XJR sportscars for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jaguar XJR sportscars is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jaguar XJR sportscars until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Rhadow (talk) 16:06, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reversions[edit]

Hi, The359. I see you've reverted several of my edits from yesterday. Your edit summary said you did not see a deletion discussion, but these weren't deleted, they were moved from mainspace to draftspace. From looking back over them, I made a mistake with one of them (2007 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach (American Le Mans Series race)), but all the rest are unreferenced articles created by the same editor. They have repeatedly refused to communicate about the issue and have continued to create articles with no verified information at all.

If you look at their talk page, you will see some of the attempts (but not all) at addressing the issue. As part of New Page Patrol, those who have earned the page mover right often move unverified articles to draftspace if attempts at communication have been persistently ignored. I hope the editor will then work on them and when they are verified, move them back to the mainspace. From experience, I find it often works in engaging an editor and preventing them ending up at WP:ANI and with a potential block. Please allow the editor or others to add their sources and move to the mainspace when they meet our basic standards of verifiability. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 10:40, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Holidays[edit]

Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:49, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm editing the current IMSA teams to show their current programs, like how it's been done for NASCAR and is also being done for IndyCar teams. WEC[edit]

"Additional entries for existing teams are allowed championship points. Invitational entries are not, and are ignored in the view of the championship as specified by the FIA Sporting Regulations.) "

None of which has any bearing on the page. It's an entry in the championship, it's on the FIA entry list, it's in the race.

To remove it does nothing except to reduce the usefulness of the page as an encyclopedia and is not in the practice on any other comparable page in the encyclopedia I'm aware of. Where cars are ineligible for points (as happens frequently in F3) that is noted in the results but the cars are there.

Please point to precedent for this being done in the past and the rationale for exclusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duds 2k (talkcontribs) 16:30, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Duds 2k: It is not an entry in the championship. It is an invitational entry granted permission to participate in an event. Being on an entry list does not make it part of the WEC. The FIA Sporting Regulations specifically state that invitational entries are allowed to maintain their race result but are ignored in the eyes of the championship. By your logic, every car at Le Mans is an entry in the championship or even all the former ALMS competitors who participated at Sebring in 2012. Now, since that would be a ridiculous amount of extra cars and would, quite frankly, be more harmful to the usefulness of this article, invitational entries are left out, as they always have been on every WEC season article since 2012. 2018 Le Mans entry list[edit]

Hello The359, Johannes275 here, and I'd like to discuss something with you. You see, on the French Wikipedia page for Le Mans, the entry lists for the race are always kept there, and they've kept them on each Le Mans page since 2009. On the English Wikipedia, I've always found it really annoying how a big entry list featuring all the cars participating in Le Mans is deleted after the 24 hour race is over, especially seeing as the entry list makes seeing who's participated in the Le Mans race easier to read and understand. So, I'm just proposing, why don't we keep the entry list for this year's Le Mans race on the page during and after the race, and not delete it? It could certainly help with understanding.

Just a suggestion, though. Let me know what you think of it. Johannes275

@Johannes275: The entry list is deleted because it becomes redundant after the race. After the race, when a sufficient summary is in place, the article is quite large and bulky and having additional tables is not helpful. The particular entries can be summarized better through text, or simply by reading either the qualifying or race results. It may require some effort on the part of the reader, but we are not here to spoonfeed all available information. Just because information exists does not mean it has to be included in the article. Anyone that wants the entry list can also use the already existing references which have the official entry lists. The359 (Talk) 18:57, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please don't start another edit war. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 14:15, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lamborghini Murciélago RG-1 and R-GT[edit]

Things are not so simple. Actually, RG-1's chassis is common with R-GT. However, it was developed under different legulation as an independent project. Additionally, regarding RG-1LM, engine mount portion was redesigned to have lower mount than normal chassis.

Things are complicated:
JLOC Murciélago in Le Mans 24
  • 2006: practice & final: RG-1
  • 2007: practice: RG-1 -> crashed, final: R-GT
  • 2009: practice & final: R-GT
  • 2010: practice & final: R-SV — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yasuo Miyakawa (talkcontribs) 22:27, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Yasuo Miyakawa: I do not have access to this book so I cannot know what it does or does not say, however I can only go off of what information I have available.
Per this archive Murcielago R-GT chassis #1063 was used solely for Le Mans in 2006, 2007, and 2009. This was not a Japanese-spec RG-1. Further, the car which replaced #1063 for the 2007 Le Mans after its damage was Murcielago R-GT #1058 which is the former DAMS FIA GT car from 2004. JLOC also used R-GT #1062 for the 1000km of Monza in 2005, this being an actual Reiter-campaigned FIA GT chassis, plus a second R-GT that has not yet been identified.
JLOC's 2010 entry is indeed an R-SV, chassis #1066, and was further used for the Zhuhai 1000km exhibition event that same year, but the designation of "RG-1LM" does not seem to exist anywhere, and the car is listed solely as an LP670 R-SV. It may have has a slightly different chassis mounting, but again I can find nothing to back this.
JLOC's RG-1s were chassis #1051, #1054, and #1061.
Further, the ACO themselves refer to the cars as Murcielago R-GTs, mentioning the fact that the 2007 program was run by DAMS, hence why they used the spare DAMS car as a replacement. Racecar Engineering also lists the 2010 entry as a Murcielago R-SV. The359 (Talk) 23:18, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, the Le Mans Archives lists the following data:
  • 2006 - Lamborghini Murcielago
  • 2007 - Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT LM
  • 2009 - Lamborghini Murcielago RSV-LM (appears to be an error, R-SV did not yet exist)
  • 2010 - Lamborghini Murcielago RSV-LM The359 (Talk) 23:27, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Merry[edit]

Happy Christmas!
Hello The359,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 21:20, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Team Taisan[edit]

On 29 December 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Team Taisan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that since 1994, Team Taisan (2012 racecar pictured) has won eight team championships and four drivers' championships in the Super GT Series? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Team Taisan. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Team Taisan), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Cheers[edit]

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well 359. MarnetteD|Talk 21:44, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Le Mans edits[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. I am giving you this warning as you have been in 2 separate edit wars in the last couple of days. The nationality one you are incorrect in as per my message on Fung's page and you were involved in another one about collapsing a table. You have been extremely slow to go to the talkpages or to provide a decent reason in edit summaries. If you have an issue with an edit it is your responsibility to go to talk, not the person who wrote it in the first place (before you get cleaver, I don't care what the policy says, your the one changing it, your the one who's onus it is to explain why, since you know it will be contested.). Ergo this warning is fully justified, anymore nonsense on there and I'll report the pair of you Games of the world (talk) 14:47, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, The359, but I cannot understand why someone as experienced as you can genuinely believe that making 14 reverts (and I really hope no more will follow) in such a short period is going to resolve a conflict. There are so many other, more constructive options that were available. You could have stopped reverting after your third one at the latest and started a discussion on the talk page. Or you could have asked for helped from the administrators at one of their noticeboards or could have requested to protect the page. I hate to do have done it, but now I could not see any other reasonable option than to initiate a report at WP:ANEW.Tvx1 17:35, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tvx1: I'm not sure why I am being named when another user had already reverted the other person twice before I even became involved. I also don't consider the IP address to be anything other than a WP:SPA and possible sock, which don't qualify for 3RR. The359 (Talk) 17:38, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I named you because you made by far the most total reverts. Moreover, you clearly point out that you believe you are exempt because you think both the IP's are socks. The second IP actually admitted to meat puppetry rather than sock puppetry. Regardless that's still a blockable offense by them. The first IP being a sock of someone is not that clear actually. None of the other registered users involved was block. But even it is a sock, there are much more suitable ways to deal with that than endlessly reverting. You could have reported them to the administrators or requested protection of the page. Edit-warring is never a good solution.Tvx1 17:51, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And I dealt with the IP, it was blocked, and assuming Fungchilong is not the same person, the warring had already stopped. The only other reversions were for the obvious meatpuppet. So why is this coming up now when clearly things are being discussed? The359 (Talk) 18:07, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I made an edit, it was reverted with a simple edit summary of "?". What am I supposed to do with that, leave it? I was reverted again, I addressed the issue made in the edit summary this time by adding addition sourcing. Then the source that I added to the article was removed with a reasoning of WP:IDONTLIKEIT. What am I supposed to do, let someone just delete a valid source? Then I'm the one told to take it to talk. Apparently I have to do everything for people. The359 (Talk) 21:33, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The appropriate course of action in those cases is not to continue reverting, but rather to follow WP:DR. Edit warring is always disruptive, even if you think you are right. Salvio 21:41, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Yes, I removed the edit made by two users that was breaking an infobox template and in turn breaking the article. As I didn't know how to solve the error, the easiest solution is to revert back to the last good version. If someone wants to add a template, they can add it correctly. European GT4 - 2022 page, and the earlier request for a series page split[edit]

Hi! I have created Draft:2022 GT4 European Series - I wondered if you'd mind taking a look at it please because I don't think it will get through the general AFC queue in time for the new season otherwise. It's not likely to be contentious but as it's my first article I am reluctant to just create it myself!

As a side effect I have noticed some of the wider GT4 coverage could do with a clean-up and in particular having the list of homologated cars buried in the page belonging to one particular series seems crazy. What is the best way to re-propose the split?

I have also joined your excellent Sportscar project in general, would appreciate a pointer to good places to discuss this side of things as the project community page itself seems very quiet.

Speedy deletion nomination of Zytek[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Zytek requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.zytek.co.uk/about-us/history/ and https://www.zytek.co.uk/case-study/automotive/hev/gm-parallel-hybrid-truck/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

rsjaffe Please take a moment to look at the edit history of the article. The 359 created a redirect on the 3rd of December in 2016. The editor who wrote the article and added the copy violations is Jonathonedward (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). I see that you have posted on their talk page while I am typing this. IMO you owe The 359 an apology for claiming that they created a copyvio. MarnetteD|Talk 21:51, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. I tagged this article using Twinkle, and it contacted the originator of the redirect, rather than the article. I didn't mean to send you a warning. I'll watch for this issue in the future. Thanks. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 21:58, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this post rsjaffe. Twinkle is a powerful and useful tool but there are times where it can cause problems. Thanks again and cheers to you both. MarnetteD|Talk 22:05, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cadillac #3 at Spa 2023[edit]

Hi, I saw you changed my add. I think that even if they ‘re not able to score points they still should be in the entry list of WEC, I mean, they raced so why can’t they be in the entry list? Prospyy (talk) 04:51, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!! you see this: https://concoursofelegance.co.uk/le-mans-24-hours-centenary-celebration/ this is the new official logo or logo for celebration! You can certainly help to update and expand the article with a reference to the centenary celebrations. I understand that maybe you are a fan of other brands and not of Ferrari, but relevant news should be placed where it is pertinent. And the return of Ferrari to compete for overall victory after 50 years is relevant news. Then we will certainly also include the return of other major manufacturers such as Cadillac etc We try to be collaborative. Best regards --Peter39c (talk) 19:42, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Heart of Racing[edit]

Hello The359, i would like to apologize for the edits i did in the IMSA and WEC pages, at first i thought they were the same team, but after some more digging i found out HoR is a continuation of Team Seattle, so in the end i was wrong. I hope you're having a great day and i'm sorry for the inconvenience. Road Atlanta Turn 5 (talk) 19:46, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good article reassessment for 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans[edit]

2007 24 Hours of Le Mans has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:46, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like there's a content dispute between you and an IP at 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship. Just a reminder that WP:3RR is a bright-line rule: any editor making more than three reverts in a 24-hour period is subject to being blocked. It would help others understand what's going on if you started some discussion at the article's talk page. —C.Fred (talk) 01:57, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
