Deleted article Jason Peterson[edit]

Would you be so kind as to provide a copy of the deleted article Jason Peterson for me? I believe that the subject, a venture capitalist and CEO of numerous notable digital rights management companies may be a stronger candidate now. I'd like to have a look at how much of Peterson's history was included in the deleted article and make a determination if there is enough new press on the subject. Deleted page: "Gavin King (Developer)"[edit]

I don't know how to view the deleted article to even see how poor and lacking it was. But I'm petitioning for a reverse ruling and I'm willing to do a certain amount of work to improve it.

Anywhere you find Java and Databases you are bound to find Hibernate. LinkedIn currently shows over 2,000 jobs related to Hibernate. Mainstream media is not going to cover it any more then they are likely to cover drive shaft differentials. Like a differential, Hibernate is an unseen but critical internal component that connects a database to an object-oriented programming language in a very powerful way. Unless you understand databases and object-oriented programming, you aren't going to be able to appreciate the importance of this very special connection between them, hence limited awareness outside of software developer circles. But that doesn't make it any less important to the running of the internet!

The entirety of the page at the time was "A developer behind Hibernate.". Nothing more. There's really nothing there worth restoring.
And especially in a case like this where the previous page was pretty much worthless, the fact that it was deleted then should really be no barrier to you just going ahead and creating the page yourself. There really has been no judgement made one way or the other as to whether he is notable, but rather the judgement was that the previous sub-stub page did not give even a possible claim that he was notable.
Assuming that you do create the page fresh, *then* it'll likely be analyzed as to whether he's notable. And that'll depend in good part on the strength of the sources that you can show. I'll almost certainly not be the person making that judgement at that point.
So, I'm not going to restore the page, simply because there's nothing there particularly worth restoring. But feel free to go ahead and create a brand new page there as if there had never previously been anything there. - TexasAndroid (talk) 18:38, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not so Jolley[edit]

I think you called it right - the rules say that if others have contributed to the article, G7 can't apply. However, those IP edits removed content. And after that bit of rabbinical Jesuitry, the actual creator (no, not Him...) requested deletion. So I deleted. What I wasn't happy about was the edit summary "Management did not approve" on the IP delete request. Management approval be jiggered. I'll give the 3rd party sources a look when I have time. For now, the AFD can run it's course. If others see your new sources and agree that they meet the qualifications for Reliable Sources, then you'll likely see some Keep opinions coming to the AFD. As a bit of FYI to you, for a source to be considered one that helps establish notability, it needs to be 1) Reliable, 2) Non-trivial, and 3) Independent. Blogs are generally not Reliable. You'll need to tell me exactly what page you are complaining about. I delete things for many different reasons, in line with project policies. If you can tell me the specific page, I can look up the reasoning I used. Without that, I really cannot help you. You're right. I'm pretty much a nobody. Just a simple computer programmer from San Antonio. And I don't have a "page". At least not in the way I think you are implying. There's no article about me in article-space, nor should there be. What I do have is a User page, in User-space, that reflects who I am as an editor on Wikipedia. The different spaces serve different purposes, and have totally different requirements for what goes there. Seven minutes between creating the article and proposing it should be deleted is hardly anything. As Leutha has been editing since 2005, I suspect they will develop the article more fully and not be put off from editing, but perhaps if they were a new editor they might not be so resilient. Actually, the creator of the page, you, did blank it. [1] That is generally considered enough to let G7 deletion be invoked. Deletion of a user sandbox[edit]

A series of things happened.
1) Your work in progress article was moved to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/James Arthur Cumming East. This left a redirect in place from your sandbox to the moved page.
2) The page was later deleted as being abandoned.
3) After it was deleted, I deleted the now dead redirect from your sandbox to the previous location of the page. I didn't delete your sandbox as such, but a redirect.
4) Then, a few days ago, the page was restored, apparently at your request. That's fine.
That leaves the question of what to do moving forward. I could restore the redirect easily enough, but that's all there is for me to restore. The page itself is at the new location, and if you are wanting to work on it, you really should do so at the new location now.
As for the sandbox, I would suggest you leave it blank for the moment. My removing the redirect does not stop you from using the sandbox for something else. So, once the current page is dealt with, if you want to work on something else new, feel free to start up a new page in your sandbox.
That all said, if you want the redirect restored, I'll do it, but I don't personally see the point. But I will restore it if you want it to be there. - TexasAndroid (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Made in USA Brand Certification Mark[edit]

The article Made in USA Brand Certification Mark is on course for deletion by 11/25/14, will its deletion include the image file attached to it ? The creator of the Made in USA Brand Certification Mark wants both the article and the logo file page to be deleted from Wikipedia. Could you please advise? Thank you. Let's let the PROD of the article play out first. If it is properly deleted, it'll be a lot easier to get the image deleted as well. If *anyone* opposes the article deletion, the image will need to stay until/unless the article gets deleted another way. PROD is nice because it's simple. The reasoning can be almost anything. But the wrinkle of that simplicity is that it only takes one opposition to invalidate the PROD. Beyond that, there is a full deletion debate. There, arguments are needed that the article does not meet one or more requirements for inclusion on the project. That can be more tricky. For now, let's see what happens with the PROD, and revisit the whole issue in a few days after the PROD is resolved one way or the other. - TexasAndroid (talk) 17:14, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

redirect[edit]

A redirect is still a valid piece of the history. The redirect was created by someone else. You effectively changed that redirect into an article. The fact that it was briefly at another name really isn't big of a deal, though the history does show that with the Move action. It was there for all of 2 hours. I'm sorry, but the net effect of your actions was to put a brand new article in the place where a redirect had previously been. IMHO the results of your actions are the important things, not the odd path you took to get there. And based on the results, the current situation is the proper outcome. If you want the edits deleted, you'll need to explain why they need to be deleted, and why you took such an odd series of actions just to overwrite a redirect with an article.   • @User:Chander: If a page has only redirect edits, overwriting that redirect with an article is often done. In this case "Jewel of India" only meant the medal, and accordingly redirected to Bharat Ratna, until recently someone changed the circumstances and wrote a film with the same name.
