Regarding my article: The proletariat.

Although you believe that this band is not notable, your opinion does not echo those of many people who own and enjoy albums and compilations listed on the article's page itself. I am in shock that you would judge a band you haven't ever heard. I am also rather irritated of your choice to have it deleted. Your reasons are silly, honestly.

Also, for your information, just because you've never heard of the label doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It was most likely a DIY label. And the fact they have no "coverage" means nothing, they were huge in the early 80's and disbanded, like many bands. Should all bands be worthless if they are on a DIY label without notability outside their respective scenes?

Do you go around judging things you know nothing about, or are you trying new things lately?

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Hey Cari,

The reason I deleted the item about the controversy at DMNS is because it is incorrect. BC tours is a non-profit group that gives tours at many locations with their version of creationist ideas. They are based in the Colorado Springs, CO area and accompany groups of home schooled children to various attractions in Colorado providing "Biblically Correct" (hence the name BC tours) tours. The DMNS is in no way affiliated with them. As an atheist and a regular visitor to the museum I felt compelled to defend an institution that has been a pillar of the scientific community in Denver since I was in grade school. For more information please visit bctours.org and you will see that they are their own entity and not part of DMNS. Also, please note that the New York Times article cited as a reference actually contains the sentence "One company, called B.C. Tours "because we are biblically correct," even offers escorted visits to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature. Participants hear creationists' explanations for the exhibitions." There is a significant difference between an escorted visit to the museum and an official museum tour. I work in the Denver media and am not affiliated with the DMNS in any way, I just know an unfair connection when I see one. Let me know what you think.

Hi there. Good question.... the reason that I didn't go with just a straight keep is because the WP:RS were so weak. I'm taking into account the fact that Odette is a designer from a non-Western nation, so RS is harder to come by, but even so they struck me as quite weak. It was a close call. Honestly, that's one where if you polled 3 admins I think you'd get 4 answers. :-) I hope that answers your question - I'm afraid it's not a good answer though. Taiwanese museums

I can look at blofeld botting those missing articles later if you like. They won't be particularly impressive starters, but the most important thing is to get them started and give other editors the chance to expand them. Its not really a bot but it can generate 5 articles a minute. This works well when there are a huge number of red links to get through. I'd strongly recommend creating museum navigational boxes by country or region/city. I'm sure for most countries we could cram them into national infoboxes. WP:WEB says website will be notable if "The content itself has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself. Children's museums

Thanks for your work on museums, but I noticed that you created Category:Children's museums in Indiana. As it currently has only one member, and it can't grow much more because there are so few of them, I find it somewhat unnecessary to have this small category. It can easily be kept in Category:Children's museums in the United States, which is not very big either. I'd like to move The Children's Museum of Indianapolis back to the latter category and later delete the one-membered former category if you don't mind. Reywas92 ^Talk 18:51, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I just feel that that it rediculous to in a way clog up categorization with cats that only have a few members. Even if there are more Indiana museums to come, it will always be a very small category. WP:CAT does not specifically address it, but when there are unpopulated cats, it may be better to merge them. Perhaps a Category:Children's museums in the Midwest? I don't feel the need to have cats for each state's children's museums when they are very small cats and would do just fine in a combined cat. Reywas92 ^Talk 19:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean by a master list. A list of what? Other than Midwest, the official regions are also West, South, and Northeast, which New York and New England could be merged into. Still, there's less than 50 (categorized) children's museums in the US so the main cat isn't that big. Also, to delete the empty cats you made, you could just add {{db-author}} rather than CfD. Jacques Marchais Museum errors

Dear Travellingcari, I am the Curator at the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art in Staten Island. I appreciate your recent additions to the Wikpedia page and wanted to clear up some inaccuracies.

Marchais never went by the name 'Jacqueline Norma Klauber' as listed in Wong's 1998 article. In 2007, I did substantial research on Marchais and published 2 articles: Sarah Johnson, "From Staten Island to Shangri-La: The Collecting Life of Jacques Marchais," Orientations Vol. 38 No. 4, May 2007, pp. 85-90 and Sarah Johnson, "Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art," Asian Art Newspaper, April 2007. The research that I did for these articles and for the Museum's 60th anniversary exhibition cleared up this misconception about her name. The recent research should clarify the misuse of her name prior to 2007. Also, you cite my article as a reference after the sentence saying that she went by the name 'Jacqueline Norma Klauber' which makes it look as if that information came from me. I am a respected scholar in the field and stand by the quality of my work; if you could kindly remove this incorrect citation, I would appreciate it. The Orientations article has a section dedicated to explaining her name, which I encourage you to read if you are interested. It is discouraging to see the same misinformation repeated even though it has been corrected in recent published articles.

Also, the institution as a whole, the Jacques Marchais Center of Tibetan Art, was officially incorporated in 1945. The Museum part opened in 1947, so setting the established date at 1947 is incorrect. The institution was established in 1945 and the museum opened in 1947.

Also, the text on the museum is actually a catalog of some of the collection rather than a book. The correct citation is: Barbara Lipton and Nima Dorjee Ragnubs, Treasures of Tibetan Art: Collections of the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art. Oxford University Press: New York, 1996. ISBN 0-19-509714-9. It has nothing to do with the Journal of the American Oriental Society.

It would be great if you could keep the complete citations for the articles, since this is the most current and correct scholarship on the museum.

Alright, I've added a link to the template on the assessment page - that's probably the best way to deal with that, and I tried to make all the parameters as intuitive as possible - You'll see I only listed four different ways to classify a disambiguation page in the documentation, but really there's six, just because nobody ever abbreviates it in quite the same place. I only listed four because the table in the documentation looks ugly enough as it is.

As for the ParserFunction guide you wanted me to write, the actual official help page is on MetaWiki, at m:Help:ParserFunctions. However, this isn't always the easiest thing to understand, so I'll try to write a simpler guide tonight and over the next few days. I'll let you know when it's ready to go. This is fact. The museum DOES offer christian based tours. That is a fact and truth. I feel it is important for people who want to go to the museum to learn what man kind has studied (extensively) about the earth, should be able to do just that, not be told what Jesus said; if they wanted to hear that, they would goto church. I apologize if this is insulting to you, but its the truth. The museum's tour guides force completely christian based views and that is wrong and not fair for people who are going there to see the exhibits. This article is COMPLETELY sourced from various credible areas and I feel it is important.

It doesn't, I didn't see the RfCU before I filed the SSP report. In some cases the RFCU will tell us to go do SSP first so this way we can say our bases are covered. Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art

Hi, saw your post on Editor Assistance/Requests. I wouldn't have marked it as resolved either. This is clearly for an issue for the foundation to consider. I would suggest asking Sarah Johnson to contact the foundation pointing out her concerns with the use of her book as a source. I feel very strongly that people with definite conflicts of interest should not be party to bully or dictate which sources we use on Wikipedia. Wong's article in the NYT (albeit some years old) is clearly V and I really see no good reason for it to be removed. "I don't want my book to be associated" is not reasonable enough to delete something that is verifiable. It could well not be untrue, but until further research by Ms Johnson (or others) proves otherwise then it has a place on Wikipedia. The OTRS volunteers at the foundation deal with these matters day in day out and she should really take those concerns to the foundation who will remove the page history etc and warn editors about recreation etc. -- BpEps - t@lk 16:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. I agree with the COI but I put it aside for the moment since she herself didn't edit the article in this case, as opposed to under the previous name. I'd like to know more about why she wants it removed since the museum seems to have no issue with that. I'm happy to remove her article -- it's not independent of the source, but the edit warring over the name, there's also an SPA involved, that's a little old. My idea with the foundation is that we get another set of eyes who sarah108j/Jmtibet can get an explanation of what Wikipedia is and that it doesn't kowtow to unreasonable demands. If her demands are seen as correct, she has been vindicated and can sleep more easily knowing that her research is the best in the world. Although it is a small matter, it does have universal concerns for the whole project if this matter isn't dealt with. Makes sense. I guess what I don't understand is how current research after the woman's death can invalidate a name she used while living that was reported in reputable sources and never retracted. lol yep it is frustrating sometimes trying to find out what was said - I guess editors talk to so many people that it's not always inconvenient to watch every talk page. So threads on the same talk pages have become non de riguer. Certainly if somebody is contacting you off wiki without reason (that somehow you can listen without public gaze) is a concern but otherwise it maybe just a lack of knowledge of "wikiette". Forgive me for not knowing the "wikiette"- I'm not a technology person, I'm an art historian. Travellingcari- I apologize if I offended you by contacting you- I am not familiar with this form of discourse. Again, I would like to point out that I do not dispute that Marchais' married name was Klauber. I dispute the "Jacqueline" and "Norma" variations. An essay on Marchais was published in 1996 in the Museum's catalog that had some inaccuracies that have been challenged through recent research using new archival and geneological material; unfortunately, the misinformation has been reprinted over & over, including in the New York Times. In academic work, the most recent research is usually considered the most updated and accurate. I just didn't want my article linked to the incorrect variations of her name, since the point of the article was to present historically verifiable new information on Marchais. It is curious to me how a Wikipedia editor can cite references, but not read their content. I would be delighted to have the Times retract the misinformation in Wong's article; however, the article was published 10 years ago! Also, I would like to point out again, for the sake of accuracy, that the center's establishment date is 1945 and the 1996 catalog was not published by the Journal of the American Oriental Society. I don't really care about the AfD, as my point still stands - no one does any research nowadays and determines notability on their own feelings. I'm not after a separate article - I don't think it can sustain one - but I wish people would take heed of policies like WP:LOCAL and consider the value of merging to suburb or local area articles where a few lines are more worthy than whole articles. His additions post-warning to the ATHF article seem to be in good faith, if misdirected. There is nothing inherently vandalous about adding random info about your favorite cartoon characters. I would warn him in plain english to stop re-adding the "fact" (like actually type out a friendly warning, not just a template) and see where he goes from there. When he starts to add random swear words to articles, or blanks them, or does something else like that, then we can block him. Yeah, I always feel that if there is a chance that some guy is just trying out the equipment, if you will, and isn't just rapidly vandalizing articles, its best to revert and re-educate rather than revert and block. Heck, my first edits (to the article about my old High School and home town) would probably not count as much better than this guys. And now I have written several featured articles and am an admin! Nathan Mumm

I agree, that was too early. AFD is weird sometimes. I've had to kick and fight to keep articles on best-selling boardgames, or individuals with entries in the American National Biography, but an article on an obscure minor league sports team owner is snowball kept. I'm not interested in a DRV or anything, though. Some of the information at Nathan Mumm should at least be merged somewhere, so deletion tools weren't necessary anyways. Cats ordering

Sometimes I alphabetize cats if I make a change to one & in this case, the change was making "Defunct Museums" to "Defunct Museums in the United States". This sometimes adds to consistency across the board, but not always. I'm not aware of any guidance for ordering cats. If there is a logical reason to order them differently, I would go for it. Hi, this is my current project, having completed lists for all the New England states and several other states. NY is so big that this will take me some time to finish, but I hope to have all museums listed, especially the small historical society museums. There will be lots of red links! Great, I'm glad you are creating more museum pages. If you create a page for a museum in NY City, please put them in the category for their borough (Museums in Manhattan, etc.).
