I first registered this account - my first - April 20, 2007. Since then, I've gotten involved pretty deeply in AfD work. I see it as a chance to triage articles that are flawed, but may yet have potential. If you need access to a Wikipedia article that has been deleted, ask me. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected biographies of living persons violation, I will userfy the article for you.

Note that using the text to recreate any deleted article may automatically qualify them for speedy deletion, and copies of previously deleted content that are being used solely for long-term archival purposes may be subject to deletion because Wikipedia is not a free web host. We have a list of alternative sites which may be used to host your content.

I maintain a sock account AVPW primarily for use on public networks. In the event of a compromised account, I specifically request any administrator to honor a request from AVPW to block this account, and absolve you in advance of any repercussions.

Current requests for reduction in protection level[edit]

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Draft:Lifespan Integration[edit]

Reason: Full creation protection seems unjustified. The corresponding mainspace page is unprotected and no one has recreated it. I personally do not intend to create an article on this topic but in case an autoconfirmed editor does, it would be reasonable to drop the SALT level to semi to match mainspace. Protecting admin has been desysoped so I brought it here directly. Nickps (talk) 11:54, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

@Nickps: The SALT does seem justifiable, given three speedy deletions. I do agree with you that full-protection is unnecessary for it, however. Semi-protection would seem to me to be too low; maybe XCP? —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:44, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Even that sounds wrong to me to be honest. Protecting the draft but not the mainspace article is a weird thing to do. It's essentially directing any spam to mainspace. Since there has been no such spam all this time, I'd argue that the protection has outlived its purpose. But, lowering the protection would still be a positive in any case so I won't get too hung up on the level. Do XCP if you think it's right. Nickps (talk) 16:15, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
It doesn't look like there's been any attempt to re-create the mainspace page after the AfD (which, I should note, post-dates the most recent draft deletion). —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Meh This is one of those cases who pop up from time to time where I am always on the fence. Yes, the page shouldn't be protected anymore (or only at lower level); on the other hand there is no expressed need to create a page under said draft. Lectonar (talk) 07:17, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page[edit]

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Israel–Hamas war[edit]

Change "Since the start of the Israeli operation, more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 15,000 children and 10,000 women.[87][88]" to "Since the start of the Israeli operation, nearly 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed,[86] including over 7,000 children and nearly 5,000 women.[87][88]." This is based on the data recently revised by the UN, accessible here: https://www.ochaopt.org/content/hostilities-gaza-strip-and-israel-reported-impact-day-215. ConDissenter (talk) 21:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Is there another place to request this change? The talk page for Israel-Hamas war is restricted as well. The current source for casualty data is palinfo.com, which describes itself by saying it "does not lay any claim to neutrality for it blatantly sides with the oppressed Palestinian people." https://english.palinfo.com/about-us/. Recognizing that reliable sources do not need to have a neutral POV, why should we use this as a source rather than a less biased source like the United Nations? Autopatrolled[edit]

    User:Princess of Ara[edit]

I recently noticed this user, Princess of Ara. An editor who works mainly on Nigerian related articles and others. While trying to appreciate the user's effort, I got in love with the lovely articles, well sources, written from a volunteer in good faith and now, I am requesting that she be granted the auto patrol user right. It'll also help reduce heavy backlog of NPP. Thanks for your consideration! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:05, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

    User:Prince of Erebor[edit]

I have created 78 articles, primarily focused on Sinophone cinema and fantasy literature, with 2 currently undergoing GAN. All of my articles have been promptly reviewed, and none of them have been deleted or marked for maintenance. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to alleviate the workload of the patrollers, especially those who actively review film articles and have reviewed the majority of my articles, allowing them to allocate more time to address articles that truly require attention. As a side note, I am a veteran editor with patroller rights on Chinese Wikipedia, having authored over 200 articles, including a dozen featured and good articles. While I fully understand that there are differences in policies and MOS across different Wikipedias, I believe this demonstrates my credibility and knowledge in assessing article quality.— Prince of EreborThe Book of Mazarbul 13:18, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

    User:SheriffIsInTown[edit]

I frequently create articles on notable subjects, having authored 530 articles, with the majority facing no issues. Only three were deleted, mainly due to changes in election results affecting their notability. I'm requesting autopatroller rights to ease the burden on other editors reviewing my articles and help reduce the backlog of new article reviews. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 23:36, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey, @Schwede66: I've done everything you have suggested me do here, and followed the edit summary instructions you've given such as default sorting my previous articles, fixing PP and P in citations, using SFN template and using Book or Journal templates in Bibliography, etc. I've also created half a dozen new articles as per your suggestion, and I believe they are unproblematic. User:Grammar crackers[edit]

According to what I've read, after 221 edits and an account that's 3 months old, I should have already been autoconfirmed. I believe that it's possible that I actually was autoconfirmed before, but that it disappeared after my account name change (it had been requested of me that I change my account name because I was told that it sounded like a company name). Hi, I request to volunteer in moving pages with the extended right. I usually draftify pages and instead if automatically deleting them, it is being marked for CSD, another increase to the backlog. Following my involvement with early page moving, I was advised to get the page mover right by Liz, and now, I also saw it can be granted at the discretion of the admin. Also, while moving pages, I at times submit technical request if a closed move request—something I can do with page mover right. User:Piscili[edit]

Not done Please see the notice at the top of this page; with only 149 edits to the mainspace, I don't think you have the necessary editing experience for advanced permissions. Take a moment to check out CVUA, and if you decide you'd like to get involved, you can enroll at the Counter Vandalism Academy to learn more. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Thanks, Fastily 23:40, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the comment. But my edit counts in the mainspace already exceeded the 200 minimum edits to mainspace at the time you reviewed this request but the bot failed to update it accordingly. I have consistently warned editors when reverting edits but sometimes the warning template fails to load which I assume is due to my weak internet connection. And I have learnt to do manual warning when this happens. I request that you kindly take a moment and review my counter vandalism edits again. Thanks. Piscili (talk) 05:46, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Sure, although I stand by my original decline. You've been actively editing for ~1 month, which IMO isn't enough time to adequately learn Wikipedia's many policies/guidelines/best practices. You need to ensure that you're notifying editors when you revert their edits. If you're on an unstable internet connection, then you need to slow down and take extra care to ensure that you are notifying editors; RecentChanges patrol isn't a race to see who can revert the most edits. Furthermore, I note that you've made exactly zero reports to AIV, which is an important stop for any serious counter-vandalism patroller. Please carefully review my feedback, implement it, and consider reapplying in a month if you are still interested. -Fastily 07:13, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
