Welcome![edit]

Hello, Soul Crusher/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  dbtfztalk 04:17, 28 March 2006 (UTC) P.S. I don't suppose your username is a reference to "Crush My Soul" by Godflesh?[reply]

Hah, that's funny I had never even considered that. In 2006 I had absolutely no idea who Godflesh were. Now Godflesh are one of my favorite bands and I'm a big fan of "Crush My Soul" and its music video. However, my username is and always has been intended as a reference to White Zombie's debut album.--Soul Crusher (talk) 08:59, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of PROD from The Cows[edit]

Hello Soul Crusher, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to The Cows has been removed. It was removed by Snigbrook with the following edit summary '(remove prod - sources can be found, probably enough for notability guidelines WP:GNG and WP:MUSIC #5)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Snigbrook before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 23:02, 21 August 2009 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Type (song)[edit]

The article Type (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't pass notability requirement for songs: hasn't been ranked on national or significant music charts, won significant awards or honors or been performed independently by several notable artists.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Glad you added the charting on this. I don't appreciate your attitude though. Clubmarx (talk) 00:35, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:22, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Piero Scaruffi[edit]

Please note from the following discussions: [1], [2], [3], that the consensus at this time is that Scaruffi should not be cited as a reviewer. You're welcome to open another discussion at WP:ALBUM and see if you can change consensus, but please don't keep adding him to articles or reverting when he is deleted. New York[edit]

In regards to this edit, the actual name of the place is New York, not New York City. My edit is correct. Radiopathy •talk• 03:25, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, alright Mr. Serious. New York City doesn't register as a place in your book? Fine. But I was referring to the edit you made that deleted part of the info-box and messed up the album segment. I don't know what you would call it, but one of the "|"s in the review section.--Soul Crusher (talk) 06:53, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated To Hell 'n' Back, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/To Hell 'n' Back. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 22:05, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of American Witch for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article American Witch, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/American Witch until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. œ 17:31, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Barkmarket Vegas Throat.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Barkmarket Vegas Throat.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:05, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Charlie Ondras (Unsane).jpeg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Charlie Ondras (Unsane).jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:19, 1 April 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:19, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Pussy Galore - Sugarshit Sharp.gif[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Pussy Galore - Sugarshit Sharp.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions. If you have a question, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.

Gloryhole page[edit]

Hi. Would you have some objection to either moving this to Gloryhole (album) with a link from the Glory hole disambiguation page and restoring the redirect the album page was substituted for, or my doing so? The word does have multiple meanings (see, for instance, Glory hole (sexual slang) for the alternative spelling Gloryhole for that particular usage). BTW, the lead line of the article mentionsł "Love Poke Here" as the album's name, not "Gloryhole" - I'm guessing this is a typo? Thanks! Allens (talk) 05:39, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done and done. Thanks for bring this up!--Soul Crusher (talk) 05:45, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! I've done the disambiguation page (adding the album) and redirect (to the disambig page; moving a page automatically creates one from the old page name to the new page name) changes. Allens (talk) 06:00, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Rob Zombie Feel So Numb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rob Zombie Feel So Numb.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File source problem with File:Julian Cope - Sunshine Playroom.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Julian Cope - Sunshine Playroom.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The article Jay Yuenger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced BLP - Created before BLPPROD so using standard PROD

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Von Lmo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Von Lmo.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:19, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Beautiful People Ltd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. noq (talk) 14:16, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits[edit]

Your recent edits to Ten (Pearl Jam album), The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile (Nine Inch Nails album) were reverted. There is a 10 revscore max for the ratings template, and the notability of the review source should be considered (MOS:ALBUM#Critical reception). Using Piero Scaruffi (whose work in music criticism comprises a self-published website and self-published books) as a source for music reviews would be appropriate when the topic is lacking in notability and coverage by more reputed sources. We should try to research the most reliable sources available on the topic (WP:STICKTOSOURCES), and Scaruffi's review site is not one of them for the aforementioned articles. Thank you. License tagging for File:The Emotional Plague .jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Emotional Plague .jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Piero Scaruffi[edit]

Why are the online opinions of Piero Scaruffi worthy of listing in boxes of "professional ratings" in the reviews box for Kinks albums? He's just a guy (albeit a smart, educated one) with an opinion; there are a zillion of those online. I'd like to remove him from all the Kinks album boxes, unless you have a convincing argument I am missing - DavidWBrooks (talk) 20:43, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the professional ratings box has reached its maximum capacity (ten reviews), then I can can understand replacing or removing his review. If not, then having it there might prove beneficial to interested readers of the article. Especially if that article is sparse in critical assessments. There is no point in removing his Scaruffi's review unless you are going to trump it with another.--Soul Crusher (talk) 20:59, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't answer David's question, but I can answer it for you. I did some digging around and it turns out Piero Scaruffi is notable (New York Times article). So I'm happy for his reviews to stay, unless the guys at WikiProject Albums know different. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:25, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, there is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums#Piero Scaruffi reviews (again). Can I politely ask you now stop adding the Scaruffi reviews just for the minute, and contribute to the discussion in that thread, until a consensus is reached? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:53, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If consensus is reached that these references are OK, you may want to add |authorlink=Piero Scaruffi to them for those people unfamiliar with this reviewer. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:45, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that you're adding references to the articles, especially to those that are unreferenced. When doing so, could you please add {{reflist}} to the articles so the references will display properly? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 16:42, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed two of these links to "reviews" before discovering this discussion. The information in the "review" was so seemingly insignificant that I just removed the link. No I see this is part of a larger issue and I'll wander over to the other discussion. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 18:38, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, a look at the other sections on this talk page shows that this issue has been discussed before and also seem to reveal that you don't really have a very good idea of what editing wikipedia is about. Carptrash (talk) 18:42, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Stop and seek consensus" doesn't mean "Wait a day or two and then carry on as you were", particularly if another editor turns up and claims your fresh set of changes to Black Sabbath articles were questionable. You're starting to be disruptive. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 05:09, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I only saw that you wished me to take part in the discussion. It wasn't my intention to be disruptive, I'll stop editing now.--Soul Crusher (talk) 05:12, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it. Go with your suggestion of pulling out direct quotes from Scaruffi into articles, particularly those that haven't got much coverage. Just do a couple in a morning - not hundreds! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:53, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see you're spamming his reviews once again. Was there a consensus that this is okay? Can you link me to it? Sergecross73 msg me 05:31, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I understood from the discussion found here that the consensus was that his reviews are allowed in the review box as long as there is room (limited to ten).--Soul Crusher (talk) 05:49, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, I don't know. That looks largely undecided. One person said that, but others didn't really agree. (Another said "only use PS if here's literally no other reviews", for instance. Sergecross73 msg me 06:21, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The respondents were trying to determine the quantity of reviews in the review-box that would constitute "many". There was was the suggestion of "when there is nothing else" and also "between five and ten." But nothing about him being excluded altogether.--Soul Crusher (talk) 06:46, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are we reading the same conversation? I see multiple editors fully against its use early on in the discussion. It doesn't appear like any 2 people really agreed on how to handle it, really. I think I'm going to start up another discussion on this... Sergecross73 msg me 20:09, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sergecross, Regarding Piero Scaruffi, a wp:consensus was reached by several users in a long discussion herethat he was not "a professional" critic. He has even created his own publishing edition "omniware" which only publishes his own books, see Tower.com source here and here on book-info.com . Plus, his publication was never cited by any serious critics. Soul Crusher has been editing for months, tons of reviews with only "piero Scarruffi". Some might think he is a relative of Scaruffi. Such dedication is suspicious. Woovee (talk) 18:27, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Amsterdam (album), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Acoustic bass (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Review formatting[edit]

Hi. When adding reviews, there is no need to include parentheses around the numbers. Simply put 6.0/10, not (6.0/10). Thanks. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 22:45, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note Please use "6/10" not "6.0/10". —Justin (koavf)TCM 07:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Piero Scaruffi Verdict[edit]

Alright, here's what we're going to do.

I see no clear consensus supporting his use articles/review tables. At best, there's no consensus, at worst, there's consensus against it.

I don't like how this keep getting the community into arguments, so we're going to make a final call on this. A final discussion will be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#Piero_Scaruffi_-_Final_Verdict_on_using_him_as_a_source_in_reviews

I will make a final call if there is a consensus to support his use in articles or not.

  • If I deem there to be a consensus supporting it, you may add it to articles rightfully.
  • If there is consensus against it, or no clear consensus, you may not add it to articles.

I'll be making the closing call on this, so I'll literally give you a final call on this, so there will be no interpretation needed on your part at all. If there is a consensus, I'll support your efforts to do it through pointing at the discussion I've started. If there is not consensus in favor of its use, however, and you continue to add it to articles after this, you will start receiving blocks every time you do it, which could lead to an indefinite block. Sergecross73 msg me 20:55, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Verdict is in - he's unusable[edit]

Per the discussion at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#Piero_Scaruffi_-_Final_Verdict_on_using_him_as_a_source_in_reviews - there's a very clear consensus here that he is not to be used as a source in music/album articles in any capacity. Do not add his reviews to review charts, or his opinions in reception sections. Since this is a long running dispute, you've been given enough warning up until this poin - if I catch you adding his info, you'll be blocked from editing. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 22:28, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

While I disagree, I will comply and not use his pages as a source.--Soul Crusher (talk) 08:10, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

April 2014 revisiting[edit]

So, there's already 5 people opposing your pushing of his use as a source again. There's very little chance of a consensus changing on this, so I'm just reiterating my last warning that, you will be blocked if you act against this. Furthermore, I request that, unless something changes and he starts writing for [[Billboard (magazine}|Billboard]] or something, that you finally drop this and stop testing the patience of the community. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 23:24, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Woah, this discussion has been up for about two days and none of the evidence I have presented to support my claim has been refuted. Your eagerness to have this swept under the rug and done away with is suspicious and your assertion that you are a neutral participant in this discussion of this topic is appearing more and more debatable.--Soul Crusher (talk) 01:32, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:AGF - I'm only eager to be done with this because it's been spanning months, and it's wasting what little time I have for Wikipedia at the moment. I don't want to be bothered about this anymore. And yes, discussion is ongoing, I'm just saying it's not very often that a discussion reverses fortunes after the first 5 responses are detailed/relevant "opposes". And my stance is to uphold the prior consensus, where I neutrally closed a discussion with an unanimous consensus against his use. Sergecross73 msg me 02:15, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying, Sergecross.--Soul Crusher (talk) 04:10, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Forumshopping and last warning[edit]

Do not create the same discussions at multiple venues. That is called WP:FORUMSHOPing, which is not allowed, especially when you're doing it because things are clearly not going your way at one venue. I won't block you for this now, since its possible you were unaware that this was not allowed, but at the same time, I just advised you to drop these discussions, and you've not only ignored this, but have increased your efforts with your forumshopping.

I can't stop you from fruitlessly arguing your time away at the current discussion at the WP:ALBUMS talk page, but if you open up another new discussion in a new venue, or open up another one about PS at WP:ALBUMS after the current one is closed, then you will receive a block for disruptive editing. Two unanimously opposed discussions is enough, you need to stop pestering the community on this. Last warning - stop trying to force your viewpoint through. Sergecross73 msg me 21:40, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the advice.--Soul Crusher (talk) 02:48, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
