June 2020[edit]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. raftingtara.com Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:44, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Sutjeska National Park. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Request reason:

I'm so sorry because i added reference for some content that i wanted to make better, it would not happen again. Can you, please, unblock me? Schleewoon (talk) 14:56, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 15:03, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hello, regarding my unblock request I would like ask you to reconsider it because now I understand what I have been blocked for: too many external links while writing new content. I will not continue to cause damage or disruption even though it was accidental, and I will do my best to make useful contributions only. Sorry for the grammar mistakes in my previous request. My English is not native but it is proficient, and I lived in London for a few years. Now, I conduct an international research group exploring the geology and history of Sutjeska National Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina. My aim was to add the lacking data on this topic and other related subjects. Thank you. (talk) 15:10, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I see nothing accidental about your spamming. It looks quite intentional to me. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 19:24, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Is English your primary language? Your request is, to be frank, difficult to understand. 331dot (talk) 15:40, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are you declining to answer my question? What useful contributions do you want to make? Please don't make additional requests, you only need one open request. 331dot (talk) 16:34, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Is there any possibility to prove to you that it was not intentional? Can we fix this? Schleewoon (talk) 19:31, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The explanation below essentially says that you wish to use Wikipedia to advocate for raftingtara.com and its aims and activities. However noble those aims, that is not what an enyclopedia is for, and you will not be unblocked to do it. If there's another way you wish to help us develop the encyclopedia, please make a new unblock request. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:45, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Why were you adding links to a commercial rafting guide (raftingtara.com) to eight different wikis? Why do claim to hold the copyright on File:Rafting na Tari.jpg, which is taken from raftingtara.com? Do you have a connection with this company? Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:21, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but I have non-commercial cooperation with raftingtara.com and this photo is my property, given to them to use (I can send you the original jpg). My intention was to try to show the world that rafting on the Tara river is one of few where the water from the river is drinkable, and it is in the biggest European canyon and the second biggest in the world (right after the Colorado), protected by UNESCO. There is also one of the last remaining primeval forests Perucica, the largest one in Europe and raftingtara.com’s goal is to enable us to keep researching this area providing us with all the help they can, on a selfless, voluntary basis. That is why I must stress one more time that my intention was not to spam Wikipedia with their links but to tell a story about the Tara river, its canyon and the local people who try hard to help save this natural gem. I apologies if it seemed differently but I would really be grateful if you told me how to fix this issue? Also if it is necessary I can provide you with official written proof of the aforementioned information that raftingtara.com uses my image file..

Request reason:

I have understood what I did wrong and why I got banned (for using raftingtara.com as a source) and now I am aware of it and this will not happen again. Also, my goal was not to promote their bisiness or their work, nothing commercially... But to fill in the gaps regarding geology, history and some other data about the Sutjeska National Park and the whole region, the Balkans. During my research work I have noticed that wikipedia lacks a lot of geological, biological, geographical data, as well as parts about some endemic flora and fauna species. This region is a real gem in Europe and the world and I believe that it deserves more information in English-honestly that is my only goal. Can you imagine that you can drink water from the Tara river all along its 100 km and it is a natural reserve being explored by more than 10 active international teams as we speak? For example, there is nothing about it on wikipedia. I promise I will not mention raftingtara in my prospective contribution. Can we resolve this issue so we can be unbanned ? Thank you very much Schleewoon (talk) 21:53, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

It sounds like you may have some knowledge to share with the world, which is precisely what we are here to do. Provided you can do this with references to reliable third-party sources, and not promote any particular organization or entity, we're happy to let you contribute. – bradv🍁 06:48, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I need to expand a little on my previous decline, because I didn't fully explain. The way you are talking makes it sound like you want to tell the world how wonderful this region is, what a "real gem" it is. Even if you don't mention a single organization, even *that* can be considered promotion. This might sound strange, but the best Wikipedia articles are written by people who have no great love for the subject, no emotional attachment to it, and no desire to let the world know how great it is. They just want to document the facts, in an detached but well-presented way. If you can assure us that you can write about your subject in disinterested and neutral style, without writing in a way that can be seen as trying to "big it up", then I could support an unblock. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:58, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for your understanding Boing! said Zebedee. First I 'd like to stress that I have understood the reason for the ban (quoting one company' s source many times) and it will not happen again. I also understand that Wikipedia does not need emotional approach in its articles because it is a base of factual articles and I believe I could contribute in that way. I may have been subjective in my last description but surely my Wikipedia content would not be like that. For example, at the moment some scientists from University of Foca, Bosnia are participating in the regional research, listing rare and protected plants and animals in Bosnia and Sutjeska National Park. I appreciate your suggestions and emphasize one more time that my content would definitely be factual, supported by scientific sources and nothing more than that. I have made mistakes which will not happen again. That being said, would you please reconsider my request to resolve this issue and unblock me. Thank you very much. Dejan
