Your edits on Swaziland[edit]

Hello. Please stop changing Eswatini to eSwatini, since it's clearly wrong: see the long discussion on the talk page of the article. Continuing to make those changes, in spite of now having been reverted by two other editors, will be seen as disruptive editing, and treated accordingly. Thank you. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 12:55, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the name from Swaziland to eSwatini as that is now the countries official as recognised by the United Nations.
-Ryan
Wikipedia does not go by what the UN or anyone else "officially recognise", we go only by what WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES say, and use whatever name is in common use in English language media and sources, which means that we do not change established names until after common usage has changed, which usually takes several years (changing Bombay to Mumbai took ten years...), and in many cases never happen (the English language uses many names that are very different from what the name in the local language is, such as Germany and not Deutschland, Moscow and not the direct transliteration Moskva, Copenhagen and not København, and so on). So stop. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 13:32, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise, I didn't realise that it was done via common name and not official name. Now that I know this information I will stop.
-Ryan

July 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to 2034 FIFA World Cup does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Also, please see WP:OVERLINK Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:57, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 1[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited City of Music (UNESCO), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ambon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:38, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My computer had crashed during the edit, and after restarting my PC and submitting my edit, it appeared to remove part of the page template. Upon realising my mistake, I attempted to revert my edit but it had already been done. Rwpardey01 (talk) 19:01, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Home Secretary shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Wallnot (talk) 16:51, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I had not been reading the edit history or talk pages. I thought that it was fair to edit the article as there was a reliable reference and since it was only parts of the infobox that had been changed. When I realised that all the information had been removed, I checked the edit history to see what was going on and concluded that it was best to leave the page how it was Rwpardey01 (talk) 16:55, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
3RR applies even if the content you are adding is sourced. That said, the source you were adding does not say that Grant is the new home secretary—just that he will or is expected to be. Thanks for backing off for now though. Wallnot (talk) 16:56, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I know that, I was just giving my reasons for editing, however dumb they are haha. I apologise for getting involved in an edit war, I just get a little overexcited, for lack of a better word, when it comes to editing Wikipedia and stuff. I'll let other editors deal with the Home Sec article from now on and will make sure that any government related edits I make are from now one are only published after news is official. Once again I apologise and will be more restrained from now on Rwpardey01 (talk) 17:27, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize. The reason that template exists (instead of just blocking people as soon as they violate 3RR) is because people often get overexcited! Wallnot (talk) 17:29, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Joker Out moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Joker Out, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hitro talk 05:50, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joker Out requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
