License tagging for Image:Papelbon2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Papelbon2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Image:Papelbon2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Papelbon2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 17:18, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Tyger Smith[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tyger Smith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. скоморохъ 05:00, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, if you want to make a page that is not yet finished, you can always create a test page in your userspace. Basically just go to User:Rwolfe09/Tyger Smith, start the page and fill it in with the necessary information, and then click the "Move" tab at the top, and you will then be able to move it to Tyger Smith, should it be deleted. If you need help, just message me by clicking on "91093" and pressing the plus tab at the top. Happy editing! — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About the deletion policies[edit]

Here's basically how the deletion policy works, and what new page patrollers like me look for when it comes to nominating a page for deletion:

  • The page's subject in question is notable for more than one thing (Wikipedia:Notability)
  • The page isn't vandalism or not a "bash", so to speak" against the person (since you seem sincere and a good user, I know this won't apply to you) (Wikipedia:Vandalism)
  • The page has references, used with <ref></ref> tags and the {{reflist}} or <references/> lists. (Wikipedia:Citing sources)

If you need any more questions, feel free to ask me. Happy editing! — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are so many criteria in the deletion policy, and if you want to read more, you can read WP:SPEEDY, WP:PROD, and WP:DELETE. — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:40, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to "Citing sources"[edit]

When it comes to citing sources, you have to site things that are not widely known by the population, or that seems ridiculous but is true. In a nutshell, anything that can be challenged must be cited. For example, if I say, "People born in the year of the dragon are widely thought to be aggressive", then you have to state your source by putting <ref name="thiswebsite">This is my source, and [http://google.com/ this is the URL]</ref>.

Here is an example taken from September:

September begins in western astrology with the sun in the sign of Virgo and ends in the sign of Libra. Astronomically speaking, the sun actually begins in the constellation of Leo and ends in the constellation of Virgo.[citation needed] In Latin, septem means "seven" and septimus means "seventh"; September was in fact the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 153 BCE, when there was a calendar reform from the month of the Ides of March to the Kalends, or January 1.[1]

References[edit]

Also know that if, for example, you take another piece of information from the same place, i.e. "uchicago" in the example above, then you may just write <ref name="uchicago"/> from all information following. Sorry for the incomplete example! — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I'm glad to help. My internet is going very slowly right now, so I apologize for the late responses. Happy editing! — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 05:52, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply about Next Era Wrestling[edit]

So far, it's okay. What I would highly recommend is having a lead section (WP:LEAD), which is like a 3-4 paragraph introduction. This is the place where you assert notability and give the reader an intro as to what this is. So, add another paragraph or two at the beginning, and it should be good. — Cuyler91093 - Соитяівцтіоиѕ 06:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:BuffaloSabresRoster[edit]

Good work on creating a Sabres roster template, but apparently you were unaware that one already exists at Template:Buffalo Sabres Roster? It is used on List of current NHL team rosters and 2007-08 Buffalo Sabres season. I believe past discussion at WT:HOCKEY has frowned upon adding the templates to player biographies -- although I am not totally against it. :) Skudrafan1 (talk) 20:00, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
