May 2022[edit]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to 2022 Buffalo mass shooting. Please do not add the suspect's alleged name without consensus on the article's talk page. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 22:37, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. However, being an internet sleuth, I have access to his manifesto and multiple outlets with the shooter's name and plans. Could I post them eventually with references to those outlets? I haven't edited much on this site so appropriate advice would be helpful. Rocketman717 (talk) 23:08, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The gunman was identified as Payton Gendron of Conklin, a community about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Buffalo in New York state, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. https://apnews.com/article/buffalo-supermarket-shooting-442c6d97a073f39f99d006dbba40f64b Rocketman717 (talk) 23:18, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's a good enough source that it's acceptable to link it in a discussion, but that's still just one source, and they're attributing it to two unnamed officials, meaning they haven't confirmed it independently. There's no rush. Right now, if you want to post that link on the article's talkpage, feel free, although probably best not to quote the name. As to online sleuthing in general, please see Wikipedia:Original research. If your sleuthing brings you to information that can be verified using independent reliable sources, without constituting improper synthesis, then yes, those facts can be mentioned. But something like "I found a reddit account that has the same handle as a Twitter account that..." would fall under original research.

Sandy Hook[edit]

Please don't make major changes to articles, as you did at Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, without citing a reliable source. A lot of this stuff was WP:HIJACK and using the word FALSE in capital letters in this edit was childish. Also, the timeline of Rousseau and Soto's classroom is undetermined, as discussed on the talk page. Please don't add things based on what you believe to be true without providing any sourcing. ♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 04:34, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember editing that article. Come again? Rocketman717 (talk) 21:35, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unless the edit history is wrong or somebody else did it, there are two edits by Rocketman717 on 8 August 2022 here and here. They also show up in your user contributions here and link to this talk page.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:31, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
