Hi again. Good work on the article, and nice template. Some thoughts:
It seems a bit odd that the template goes from North to South, but the list of bridges goes the other way.
Not all the bridges on the list appear on the template (I'm particularly attached to the disused cast-iron Foss Islands Road/DEFRA bridge, but maybe that's because I took the photo on the Bridges of York page).
One or two things in the template need altering, e.g. Foss Bridge rather than Fossgate Bridge.
Also, the Castle Mills lock pic doesn't actually show much of the lock, just the lock gates on the left, with no sign of the other end of the lock. The water in the middle is the Foss approaching the lock, plus a sort of overflow thingy that goes either straight into the Ouse or probably (perhaps?) down to the Foss Barrier. I'd go and have a look but it's dark (and snowy) at present. (Added: see [here.)
Do we still need the See Also link to Bridges over the Foss? And I'm also wondering whether the text and images there might be moved here. Then maybe Bridges of York could be renamed as, um, I'm not sure what...

If you look in the infobox, it will say [disambiguation needed] since Salton is a disambiguation page, that is a list of possible uses. Not being from the area, I was not able to determine which article was appropriate. So I tagged it to make the bad link more noticeable so that that someone with more knowledge could jump in. If you are interested, try this link for the tool I used. That would bring up the article in the UK project that have the same problem. You can just jump in and fix as many as you can. Please do you caution and try to get it right. Select 'I don't know' from the drop down box of choices when you are not reasonably sure. That tags the link as you saw making other editors aware. Hi, thanks for the changes to Thoralby and similar articles. Just as a note I think that there are about 20 of these type of villages pages that are done in a similar manner be new registered users and all starting editing about the same time. I suspect that it is a school class that has been given a project to pick a village and expand the article. The villages are mainly in North Yorkshire, but there are some in Lincolnshire, so may be the school involved is in North Yorkshire and the Lincolnshire ones are because the person comes from there. Thanks for letting me know. I do use information from that site on a lot of the village pages i am updating. With the release of the 2011 census data, it now makes even more sense to use sites like that for info for articles to provide the historic demographic data too. As always the info used is properly referenced so that the site gets credit. I would advise against just reproducing the wholesite info on wikipedia though. Comparisons of data over a spread of years is arguably more useful to a reader than focusing on just one year (unless that is all you have to go on).Rimmer1993 (talk) 16:48, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will take a look at what Acabashi has done, but they are a pretty good editor so probably made some reasonable points about what you had added. I would advise you take a look at Guide to writing about settlements and see some of the things you can and can't do as well as the style of writing, which is maybe what has got picked up on here. Don't get put off, some editors are more forthright in their editing than others and don't intend any slight (for want of a better word). If you examine the references at the bottom of the page you will see that the source you have found is one I use regularly too. Just be careful to put things in your own words and not just copy. Happy to keep helping. Also, you might find it useful to use the user sandbox that comes with your account as an area that you and only you can edit. This so you can see what any changes look like before they go live by copying them to the article in question. Hi. I've done further copyedits and adds on North Cowton. The London distance [1] I've put to nearest 10 miles, anything sharper would probably be too precise given the distance and the size of London - up to 100 miles from London I tend to go for 5 mile jumps. Somewhere like Berwick is 300 milesish so that a 298 or 303 would look a bit ridiculous. For the same reason I've truncated the distance from Northallerton, which itself is of quite a size. I've truncated the postcode district, as a postcode district is not 'part of a postcode district'.
I like the way you've used a section named 'Community' (which I use) - this is slightly away from WP:UKVILLAGES guidelines, but what do you do when there isn't enough stuff to make up all the other advised sections ? So a heading of 'Community' can be a useful catch-all for lots of other stuff that's not 'History', of which there usually is a lot.
I've changed the 'English Heritage' named refs to 'British Listed buildings'. BLB web site (easier to navigate) isn't EH, just a copy of the stuff. I hope I'm not preaching to the converted but you can use the BLB building ID/Ref no. to nav through here - [2] - and then use the equivalent EH number to add to the <ref>{{NHLE |num= add number |desc= add building |grade= add grade level |accessdate= add date}}</ref> template.

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 19:59, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The Images of England web site is to be decommissioned this month by Historic England. The text of the site entries has been available on the corresponding National Heritage List entry since that web site was created. The images are being transferred ahead of the decommissioning. As a result of this a BOT has changed all {{IoE}} templates to {{NHLE}} templates and translated the reference number according to a list provided by Historic England.
It would be good if members could check these, when they come across them, as I have spotted one with an incorrect translation. Some articles already had {{NHLE}} templates in them so the references may need to be combined. Other changes that may need to be performed are removal of template or text referring to the site as needing registration, changing the text "Images of England" or "IoE" to something more appropriate or may be even removing it if it is part of the description..

Welcome to the one hundred and eighty seventh WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 18,816 last month to 18,845 on 29 October 2023). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 216 is ahead of WP:GM who have 91. WP:YORKS also has the lead in FAs at 92 while WP:GM has 65 out of a total number of 4,866 articles.
Currently we have seventy five Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

A Happy Christmas to all members of the project and thanks for all the work you have put in supporting articles relating to Yorkshire. The year saw much change, especially to the governance of North Yorkshire which became a unitary authority in April. This affected a large number of articles, but most of this has been done by those who are active. There is still many of the smaller settlements that need updating, so if you have time have a go at bringing them up to date.

Unreferenced backlog
There is an Unreferenced Article Backlog drive running throughout February across Wikipedia, it would be good for project members to be involved in this and help reduce the number of unreferenced articles supported by the project. You do not have to signup to be involved. There are currently 245 in the "Cites no sources" section of the project's clean-up listing that could do with some sources adding to them.
