Hi ,

I made a mistake, when I chose the template and didn't take the time to understand properly how to use it, I saw the rational there and left it as is, by inadvertence, I corrected it and added more comments in the picture talk page.

Thanks TaoWoAini (talk) 02:47, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Hello TaoWoAini, I responded on File talk:Z.Tao Crown.tiff. Random86 (talk) 03:10, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Uploading new photo for Kang Seungyoon page

Hi.

I tried to change the photo on his page using YG's photo but it was reverted back. I'd like to upload fan taken photos and I have express permission from the owners. What kind of proof do you need that I have permission to upload it? Thanks! Yeniwantschange (talk) 23:22, 19 April 2016 (UTC) yeniwantschange 2016.04.20

Hello Yeniwantschange; if the images are not already published online with a free license, you will need to follow the instructions on Commons:OTRS. I think that page should answer your question. Random86 (talk) 23:36, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

Newly created pages for albums by editor

Hi Random - I think you have looked at some K-pop album pages recently created by User talk:KpopBoy who does not have a User name. I do not do any monitoring or administrator work, but I noticed this editor's contributions today. They appear to be creating album pages, often without any references and with questionable notability. I have not looked through all their contributions, and only noticed them when they made an edit on a page for DEAN, which I often edit. Kpopboy appears to make a few edits in search of albums to create pages for, then creates an album page. I will not be surprised to find a page created for DEAN's first EP soon. I do not think that DEAN currently warrants separate Discography or Album or Song pages; and therefore, hope Kpopboy does not do this.

I agree with the WikiProject Korea stance on maintaining the K-pop pages to be consistent with all WP pages; and appreciate the efforts that Administrators and Korea project workers have made in tidying up the pages.

KpopBoy is citing Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums as a purpose for creating these new pages, which appear to be causing a goodly amount of maintenance time by many editors like yourself, to monitor and place tags and/or recommending them for Deletion.

Although I make it my personal policy to go directly to the User and discuss issues about editing, I feel that someone like yourself might be better to take this on as a possible problem editing area for K-pop pages.

P.S. - I finally got around to adding the references and info. we discussed for Lee Eun-mi (singer) although it still looks kind of sketchy. Hopefully others will continue to add more history now that it is started. She was quite interesting!

Thanks a lot - please let me know if I am being too severe on my thoughts about the Kpopboy thing.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 22:15, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Update, I see ThePlatypusofDoom is discussing this issue with Kpopboy. Please see the above entry Platypus.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 22:21, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

@Bonnielou2013: I tried discussing this issue with KpopBoy before (see here), but he won't communicate. Where did he cite WikiProject Albums? FYI, WP:NALBUM states "Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article". This applies to many of KpopBoy's album article creations. I redirected some of them because a good article could possibly be created (like with Closer (Oh My Girl EP)), but there's no point of keeping it up if it's unsourced with no content. Random86 (talk) 03:10, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Random Oh sorry, he does not cite the WikiProject Albums, I guess that is coming up automatically with the new page creations where he does not add an EditSummary for. Yes, it must be hard for you to try to discuss and they don't respond. I saw the work you did on Closer - good save. But, if he keeps adding more and more, it will become a double burden for all you monitors. Good luck, I will respond to him if I need to. Hopefully he will start to communicate with you or ThePlatypusofDoom.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 03:24, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

Taeyeon

Hi Random, I remember reading a couple of articles back in August 2015 about Taeyeon's younger sister being accepted as a trainee at SM Ent. I tried to search for the original article, but could not find it. Do you know if such an article does exist? I'm working on Taeyeon's article and trying to find a ref to support the fact that she has a younger sister. Thanks!!!--TerryAlex (talk) 18:04, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

This is all I could find: [1], [2]. There weren't any Korean news articles, just the Instiz posts. The original source is STC Academy's now-deleted Facebook post. I guess the Korean media wanted to protect her privacy. Random86 (talk) 18:28, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
I only could find this [3] as an alternative (at 17:55), but don't think it's good enough? The dilemma is should we just leave it unref-ed for now?--TerryAlex (talk) 19:26, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
TerryAlex: Just noticed I didn't respond to this...I don't think that source is quite good enough unfortunately. You could use this until another source is found. Random86 (talk) 00:36, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Message from Cosmicgirls

Thanks for the concern. But I already spoke to the user and we ended on an agreement, they concluded with me that art-pop wasn't correct. They were referencing four words that were in reference to the art film accompanying the album, not the album genre itself. I do not want misinterpreted information spreading about f(x) if you would mind kindly enough. It wasn't clearly sourced, it was an expression. I hope you understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 05:04, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

That's not how I interpreted the conversation. , were you agreeing that art-pop isn't a reference to the album's genre? The art film is never mentioned. Random86 (talk) 06:00, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I do agree that the album is described as "art-pop". But to avoid WP:EW I passed it. Simon (talk) 06:02, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
That's what I thought. Random86 (talk) 06:04, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the edit spamming. English isn't my first language and I just signed up to wiki and it's hard understanding everythingg. Please to not change the Pink Tape again because I don't want to have to report. Sorry for inconvenience but me and the other person already sorted it out until you found out about it and started it up again :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 07:11, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Cosmicgirls, the other editor doesn't agree with you though. You are one who is causing a problem. Random86 (talk) 07:14, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
I saw an incorrect source about f(x) and I had to make the change. Another user even did the same thing beforehand. So I'm not alone here. I understand what is an actual source (I have studied at schooling and learnt about it) and using "the queens of art-pop" is not a source. The Pink Tape art film belongs to the Pink Tape album, and Pink Tape is a concept album. Even on the album cover you could see. Maybe I know this because I am a f(x) fan, but the genre is not art-pop, the concept of the album is. Also, that source has not been backed up by anyone else. It was just four words and no one has come in to confirm it. I don't want to sound rude but you should know the difference between concept album and genres :/ You can't use one obviously controversial "source" and keep adding in, trying to silence my well defended opinion on it. I do not want a misinterpreted sentence being included as a source and a fact. Please understand me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 07:19, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Cosmicgirls, the source does not mention the art film; it says "Pink Tape solidified their place as queens of art-pop". I think it is talking about the music (i.e. genre). The source is not controversial (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources). Random86 (talk) 07:31, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Pop Matters is a website dedicated to popular music and media and saying a group or singer is the "queen of _____" is popular expression used by youth on twitter, tumblr, etc. It is not factual. It is just an opinion and expression. The concept of the Pink Tape album is meant to bring homage to artsy things, cult classic films, etc. Watch the art film of Pink Tape and it is clearer. Pink Tape is a concept album, and obviously, we are both interpreting that sentence differently, along with two other users, so how can it even be used as a correct source now when it's being constantly debated upon by us? You can't just include that in. Art Pop as a genre was never included in this wiki, and four words that NO ONE has backed up and approved is not a proper source. If I knew how to report this, I would, but I'm new to Wiki. You can't add a source like this and it being debated upon proves its unreliability. That should be logic. Please try to start understanding me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 07:37, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Cosmicgirls: What you are saying does not make sense. All genres are matters of opinion; there's no way you can scientifically determine them. PopMatters is a reliable source, so that is why it can be included. Colloquial language doesn't make the source any less reliable; if the source said "queens of dance-pop", then dance-pop could be added. Random86 (talk) 07:45, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Yes it does. I know what I'm talking about. You're just choosing to ignore me. I understand why you think it is a reliable source (it is a source afterall) but it isn't. It has equally been argued upon 2 v 2 people. How can you possibly go against me and the other person when only you and another user are agreeing with it while me and another aren't? You shouldn't be using it as a reliable source for that on its own. I know what sources are to be reliable or not, and I know music, Pink Tape is a concept album and it was referring to the concept of it. All genres are a matter of opinion but there's only one editor who used four words, and two users who are siding with it. So you are in the minority here. Please do not do this again, you are incorrect and purposely not trying to understand me. Maybe because English isn't my first language is why I'm not making sense. "Queens of dance-pop" wouldn't even be used because that's a laughable source right there. Other sites have listed the genre of Pink Tape, and explained it, instead of using twitter slang to describe the concept of the album. I have been taught for years that if a source is constantly debated upon, it shouldn't be taken as serious and only as insight. Don't include it again please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 07:58, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Did you miss the part where I linked to Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources? Random86 (talk) 08:03, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

I literally just said I understand why it's being used as a source. It is a source. But it is debated upon equally, that makes it unreliable. Everyone should know this, I thought history is a compulsory subject in each country right? Debated sources can still be spoken about but are unreliable. Please learn and understand what I'm saying. I'm not making up information. Stop trying to act like I'm incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 08:05, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for butting in, but like Random86 has said: All genres are matters of opinion. If an author is writing a music review on a website like PopMatters, he should know what he is talking about. Just because other sources don't mention it does not make his statement incorrect. He is referring to the album's genre as a whole when he says this "2013’s Pink Tape solidified their place as queens of art-pop"--TerryAlex (talk) 14:27, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

All opinions matter yet you are all completely disregarding mine because you think an album that's a stand-out is art-pop? Okay. Dance-pop is what is described for "Rum Pum Pum Pum", it says it on the wiki page and sourced. I put that in the genres, but somebody took it out because "I had no source" and "I was wrong" but now you can use a form of expression from that website as a source yet not my Dance-pop one? I see the double standards here. What are you all trying to do? I keep rebutting and someone else also agreed with me but no, I'm wrong and my opinion doesn't matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 05:16, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Cosmicgirls: Hello Cosmicgirls, I do not have "Pink Tape" on my watchlist so I'm not 100% aware of its editing history, but I just took a look at the article. Both sources that you referred to for "Rum Pum Pum Pum" do not have any indications that the song is dance-pop [4] and [5]. The Naver link [6] only has a tracklist with no in-dept description about any of the songs at all. The "Composition" in that article is literally unsourced right now. Can you clarify what sources you are referring to? Please discuss it on the "Pink Tape" talk page if you have to. Thank you.--TerryAlex (talk) 14:10, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Unnecessary info and miswriting titles.

Stop changing iKON's page as Ikon and respect the group. Stop shoving in unnecessary info to the article. Stop over editing. Stay away from the page. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reginageorge95 (talkcontribs) 22:46, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Reginageorge95: What unnecessary info are you referring to? You don't WP:OWN the article, and you can't ignore Wikipedia guidelines and policies. The page's title is iKon and the usage inside the article should be consistent. Random86 (talk) 23:04, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
The groups name is iKON as it should be written as IKON if the original name isn't accepted. Article lacks information while having unnecessary details. Stop editing the page. There are editors who would like to fix it and also change the old photo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reginageorge95 (talkcontribs) 23:20, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Reginageorge95 The only way you can change the page name back is through a new WP:RM. You can't tell other editors to stop editing a page; that kind of behavior can lead to a block. Random86 (talk) 23:26, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Looks like you're gonna catch one if you keep discrediting the groups name and overediting the page. I'm not the one who will make the changes. Show some respect and stop abusing the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reginageorge95 (talkcontribs) 23:31, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Flower Bud (EP)

On 6 June 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Flower Bud (EP), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a song from GFriend's EP Flower Bud was broadcast via loudspeaker across the Korean Demilitarized Zone as part of South Korea's response to a North Korean nuclear test? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Flower Bud (EP). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Flower Bud (EP)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000.
