Hi User:PotentPotables, sorry to ask if your busy, but can you add a summary of the origin of the Cohan surname for the article please? The current description is completely unsourced. I've found a reliable source (here [1], supports the Irish origin given but also supports it being a variant of Cohen), but couldn't find the white pages from the name's countries of origin (Ireland and France). The actress Lauren Cohan also adopted the name from her Jewish stepfather ([2]).

The reason I'm asking is I'm not good at paraphrasing and presentation of articles is not a strong point for me and I've seen your edits to another article which was phrased and presented very well. If your busy editing, please get back at some point to let me know. Cheers, --Theo (contribs) 07:12, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi PotentPotables, I've noticed you were writing a rewrite of the Merthyr Rising article. I actually started writing my own without realising that someone started writing something. What I managed to do is get access to "Working Iron in Merthyr Tydfil" booklet which gives a lot of background information regarding the ironworks. I also got "Dic Penderyn - The Man and the Martyr" by Sally Roberts Jones, and of course Williams' book. I am not sure if you are still active on Wikipedia, but if you don't mind I can try merging both of our articles into one in my sandbox. Let me know if you think that's a good idea! ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Women in Red 8th Anniversary

Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!
