Hospitalized for Wikistress!!!!!
I am suffering from wikiburnout and chronic Wikistress.

And real life is very much in the way these days.
I probably won't be able to log in as frequently and contribute as much as I would like. Messages left here probably won't get a quick response as before. Your patience would be very much appreciated.

Take care, everyone.
Happy editing.

DYK for familial hyperestrogenism[edit]

Heya! I know you're gone right now, but I just wanted to thank you for nominating the article I wrote on familial hyperestrogenism for the Did You Know? column on the front page. I don't usually get a whole lot of feedback on my work (for example, I've only gotten a single barnstar in a little over three years of editing here at Wikipedia), so oftentimes I wonder if anyone really does appreciate it, or if it's good enough quality for that matter. Well, I must say I'm certainly not wondering about anything like that today! So thanks again! :-) -- el3ctr0nika (Talk | Contribs) 11:51, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, el3ctr0nika. Thank you for writing up the article. Please keep the nice articles coming. Sorry about the delayed response. I was off-line. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 05:06, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Minori Hayakari[edit]

Graeme Bartlett (talk) 16:03, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for nominating this for DYK. I don't always have the time to do the process. She certainly is one of the more note-worthy (obscure) women that I've written about. Thanks! SFB 21:18, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, SFB. Thank you for writing up the article. With the Olympics coming up, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your wikibios on DYK. Please keep the nice articles coming. A cupcake for you![edit]

Thank you for taking over from FlBot and manually updating the Community portal open tasks page! It would have been a ghost town without your boldness. I hope you enjoy your well-deserved wiki-break and come back to us soon -- the 'pedia needs you! :) Maryana (WMF) (talk) 17:25, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for the cupcake! You're too kind, Maryana. I was just trying to keep {{Opentask}} somewhat 'fresh'.... Not sure how useful this is to do so, but I'm doing it anyway. DYK Question re: Milo Yiannopoulos[edit]

Hi PFHLai, I noticed that you moved this hook to the preparation area, however I noticed that you did not use the picture. Could I ask why? This is not the first time I have made extra effort to include a media file in a DYK nomination, only for it to be ignored with no explanation. I am happy to wait for it to have its turn with the image. Thanks. WilliamH (talk) 16:08, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, WilliamH. Thank you for your question, and your wikicontributions on Milo Yiannopoulos. I was looking for a non-US hook for P3, and found Milo's hook on T:TDYK, and grabbed it. Now that I know you really want the hook to be used on MainPage along with the pic, I have reverted my edits. Milo's hook and pic may be used together in another hook set. Please note that there are more pics than we can use in DYK, so not every suggested pic gets chosen. And, the coveted top spot at DYK is preferably (at least when I am building hook sets) saved for longer, more content-rich, fully developed articles. I would prefer not using Milo's wiki bio, in its current form, for the top spot. Other hook-selectors may have different criteria, but I usually avoid choosing articles with less than 2500 characters of prose to use up there. --PFHLai (talk) 18:07, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reconsideration and perspective, which was interesting as I don't really deal with the admin side of DYK things. I've done twenty hooks and I've never cared what position the hook is in. I just see DYK as a pat on the back for a new article, and if I have to wait a bit longer for that to be reflected, I don't mind, as I say. WilliamH (talk) 21:53, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, WilliamH. Your article should get on MainPage soon. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 14:16, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up that I have commented on the Milo Yiannopoulos DYK. Happy for you or anyone to promote it to a prep area. WilliamH (talk) 15:14, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, WilliamH, thanks for letting me know. There was one open slot in the prep areas, and I took it. Milo is now on Prep 2. Hope this helps. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 19:36, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Maternal Sensitivity[edit]

Hello, thank you for promoting the nomination for the "maternal sensitivity" article. We are a bit new to this, so I was just wondering what happens now that the nomination has been accepted?? Thank you very much for your time. Carina1205 (talk) 20:25, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Carina1205. Thank you for working on the wikiarticle on maternal sensitivity.
After a DYK nomination is accepted, the approved hook goes to the prep areas, where changes to the hook can still be made by anyone. If there are any objections, the hook may be amended, or the promotion may be undone for further discussions. If no one notices anything wrong, the hook set will be moved into queue. Wikipedia's computers than take over and load the hook sets onto MainPage according to this schedule. Changes may still be made, but only admins can make edits once the hooks get on queue. There may be discussions on WT:DYK as needed. You may want to keep an eye on these wikipages in case someone has questions about your nomination. When it comes the time for your hook to appear on MainPage, a note will be posted on your usertalkpage to let you know. How's this for an answer? More on the DYK process can be found here. Hope this helps. Please keep your nice wikiarticles coming. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 21:18, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for taking the time and responding to my message. Makes perfect sense!! Hopefully it all goes well. Take care, and thanks again. Carina1205 (talk) 21:28, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
Manually updating Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask? My goodness, that kind of work should be commended; here, have a barnstar! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 20:13, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Nettrom, as the bot running {{Opentask}} isn't working anymore, somebody has to do it manually. I don't mind. Before we had bots, I used to update the template every now and then. Thank you very much for the barnstar. You're too kind. Thank you. --PFHLai (talk) 23:30, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're most welcome! Cool to run into someone who has been around here for so long they can talk about how it was before the bots were around, provides me with a bit of perspective as a youngster who's only been around for a few years. Regarding the bot updating {{Opentask}}, there's been some talk about getting it running again and I've had a look at the code to potentially let my associated bot account handle it. Would you be OK with the update process being automated again? Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 19:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Most certainly, Nettrom, it will be good to have the updating automated once again. Go right ahead. Please feel free to unleash your bot any time. Happy coding. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 03:54, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's great, thanks! I'll get to work. Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 15:09, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun, Nettrom. :-) --PFHLai (talk) 02:05, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I used to attend to this a bit but didn't notice the change over in updating the list. Whatever happened to FIBot? I don't often do barnstars; but, in this case, I think it's justified that you should have yourself a barnstar.

The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar

Awarded for manually performing tasks that I once thought were automated, such as the updating of Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask. --Qwerty Binary (talk) 14:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Have a good day! :) --Qwerty Binary (talk) 14:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa! Thank you so much for the barnstar, Qwerty Binary. I'm not sure if I deserve it. The FIBot was broken. The bot's owner is no longer with Wikipedia. So no one could fix it. Nettrom (talk · contribs) has offered to use his bot instead, but this replacement is not ready yet. So I am just "moonlighting" at {{Opentask}}. :-) Hopefully, we'll have a proper bot soon. Thank you, again. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 21:02, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Opentask shuffle[edit]

Hi! Just letting you know that I changed around the order of the Community portal open tasks a bit – I noticed when looking at the data that everyone seemed to be clicking on the top two and bottom two tasks, and I want to know whether it's just because of the order of the list and that's where most people look/click, or because those particular topics (wikifying, copyediting, requested image and article) are more appealing than the others.

To test this, I moved the high-click tasks to the middle and the low-click tasks to the top; if most of the clicks still happen on the top and bottom of the list, it means people aren't paying attention to the topics so much as how the information is presented. Anyway, I wanted to make sure you're aware of this and not confused if/when you visit that page and it looks slightly different from what you're used to :) Maryana (WMF) (talk) 00:03, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look?[edit]

I drafted another task list redesign for the Community portal, based on my clicktacking findings. Before I make it live, though, I want to make sure I'm not accidentally breaking anything! If you have a minute, can you take a look and let me know of any dire conflicts that might occur when this is transcluded onto other pages? It seems to look okay on my mockup of the Community portal, but there are probably bugs I'm missing :) Thanks so much in advance for your help! Maryana (WMF) (talk) 21:22, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Maryana, your baby's looking good so far in the latest versions of IE, Chrome and Firefox, but not good in IE7 (many empty bullets in some parts of your 3X5 matrix -- probably more to do with IE7 than your wikiformatting. Will keep looking and keep you posted. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 17:18, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Explorer! *shakes fist* Thanks for testing the browser matrix. I wonder why those empty bullets are showing up...? I'll investigate, maybe play around with the size of the columns. I'll take a look at it in other skins, too (though since most of the users browsing it are unregistered or very new, I doubt they're messing with their preferences too much at that stage). Very much appreciate your help :) Maryana (WMF) (talk) 22:10, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Izetta Jewel[edit]

Thank you for the DYK nomination for Izetta Jewel. I must admit ignorance on the procedure here, so if they're still needed here are two citations that mention Jewel as the first woman to address a major American political convention: [1][2] RegardsJohn F. Barlow (talk) 21:44, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, John. I cannot access the NYT, so I can't use the second ref. But anyway, I have added the point to the Legacy section of the 1924 Democratic National Convention wikiarticle. This is not really related to DYK, but sth I felt should be done while the refs for the Jewel article are still handy. Thanks. Happy editing. I've managed to engage Tomica on the nomination template, and some issues have been addressed. (I also noted the definition of "channeling" that I think is being used here by Popcrush.) If you could take a look and see whether this, and some Tomica edits (including the video release date issue), have moved the article closer to being ready—the new quotes around "channel" would likely need to be applied to the original hook, and I think "late" can be deleted from it, along with the image that isn't in the article—the momentum could be continued. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:16, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Botswana water supply[edit]

Thank you for that. I was sort of circling around North-South Carrier, trying to get comfortable with the subject, and just nominated that one too. So maybe there is a bit of a surplus of Botswana waterworks in the DYK pipeline right now. But why not? To me, these huge investments in massive structures are really interesting. I wish I could find photos of them, and of the landscape around them. This is a place I would like to visit. Not likely to happen. Anyway, thanks. You're welcome, Aymatth2. I would like to visit these wonderful places, too. Travelling is expensive. Thanks to you, many people can use your wikiarticles for a preview before spending $$$ on a trip. :-) Please keep the nice articles coming. Thank you. --PFHLai (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1500 DYKs? Seems like an appropriate time to do some archiving and start a new talkpage. Done. --PFHLai (talk) 23:59, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
